FYI   The Web Guru deleted the said calender, not I sir.      Must have thought I was advertising.

Some use common sense practices, most don't have a clue.    Most are using doctored together livingroom stuff or other sub par equipment.

There are hundreds of KJs around here.   If I was the only one .........Oh too sweet.

I'll offer advice to any newbie.   Some of the info that has been thrown at the newbies is really stupid.     Lacks complete details, inadequate information, and I think most is misleading.    Yeah you have $200 to upgrade your livingroom crap, huh?     You have a machine and some discs, get a $50 mike and good luck.   You'll still have $150 for gas, to get to Kelly's gig to undercut her.    Is that what you want?   Is that what we should be doing?    Is that what the newbies want to hear?    Is that what they deserve?    Can we afford to keep doing this to ourselves?

I don't want to create more underqualified wannabes, that drag down the quality of the shows and drag down our pay.      Sounds like most don't care if the newbies get started with an advantage leaning toward being on the successful side.

So what is the big suggestion to eliminate this problem.   And it is our problem.

I got it.    We can be more friendly to them.   Shake their hand as they get misinformed. LMAO

SO what is some of the 'stupid' info the newbies have recieved from here?  There are ways to be professional with a starting budget & still sound good or better than the WalMart system.  You do not have to spend $20K to start out.

I think it is important to mention also not everyone that asks for
advice on the site is a KJ. You have people with home system too.
Not to mention the small private places that like to own their own systems like
churches, VFWs ect... They aren't making money from the systems, they just would like something simple for their members. You can't give the same advice for everyone. Lonman is very smart in asking people 1st, what are you going to use this for? Although he runs a good show with good equipment I've never heard him say do
it my way or it's the wrong way because he understands every situation is different.

I accidently sent a close friend of mine into deep depression because of the recorded CD I gave him, I took a second listen and became depressed. We're filing a class action suit against Behringer for ruining the quality of our lives. Anyone wanna join in?

One, Kelly ain't a her!  He's a he.  And two I ain't worried about anybody undercutting me.  And as I've already said, I don't mind helping out the newbie with information; suggestions, etc.  But as far as me considering it a problem. No.  I really don't want anyone in my area to be up to my standards.  That's what free enterprise is all about.  I want to be better than my competition.  I don't want them to be equal to me.

Do you think Wal-Mart and Target are going to worry or be upset if K-Mart begins buying inferior products? Or start treating customers in an unfair way?

Call me dumb, but I continue to see DJ and KJ forums where everyone is concerned because some wannabe out there doesn't charge what they charge or use as good a equipment as they do.

I guess I have to consider myself fortuante.  But the "subpar" "competition does nothing but make things easier for me.

I am more than willing to help, to a degree.  But I tend to concentrate more on my own knitting and how to always look for ways to improve ME, not my competition.

Kelly-  All MALE.  Always have been; always will be. LOL

As it should be, you never tell anyone how to be as good as you, but there are ways to help improve someone, offering suggestions to help improve themselves & maybe the equipment knowledge without cutting your own throat or putting them, their ways & equipment down in the process.
I agree that I would love to see a more even playing field, but it just ain't going to happen.  These small systems are getting jobs, they have no intentions on raising their prices - they may not stay at a place for very long, but there sure don't seem to be any shortage of work for them either.
