For those thinking that Vj is Illegal (excepting our canadians) google "promo only". I just spoke to the people there, and it is a new market, but the ascap, bmi and sesac fees cover this material.

I have been researching this for something new here for almost a year, and it will be something new to the area here. I am still wanting to do karaoke, but I get a much higher fee for the videos. (100" projection screen). i have about 50 dvd's on the hard drive now 100 hours Pluss. My second gig is friday evening. The first one went into 3 hours overtime........Great money!!!!!

I had a LCD projector and a 100" screen 14 years ago, for the Pioneer Laser discs.    But now only 20% of my discs have a video.

I posted this sometime ago, but I'll say it again.

Put on a scary karaoke disc.   No words on the screen.   See how loud the crowd gets.

Put on a CDG.   The crowd gets a little bit quieter.   Something to watch.

Put on a video and the crowd noise goes way down.    They watch the videos closely.

We are a TV society.   People will watch a test pattern all night just to see if it changes.    Videos are the way to go.    It gets more people interested and watching the TV.   And when they watch TV, they aren't talking and making as much noise.

I don't think that poker will replace us.      It's mainly a guy thing.     How mnay wives will put up with them going out by themselves?

I feel certain we will be very safe, unless they start catering to the women.

Ok testosterone filled topic..... poker.... I'll have you know I kick serious bootay at five card draw and texas hold 'em.  My girlfriends and I have a poker night every Friday and the ones who are married leave their husbands at home

You know in japan you rent a room and sit around with a few friends and sing karaoke. vs the crowd of a bar.

I know a few guys that are are starting to try this out in the US.

How much do they charge?

I remember that someone once told us that there were several such bars in Seattle....I've never seen one, but know they are the standard in the Orient...

Well again, the poker (Texas hold-em) nights I worked, the gals outnumbered the guys quite a bit & some them were couples with their guys both there together.

There are a few in the Seattle area (or at least used to be).  I knew of one that charged $35 per hour - $5 per extra head.  It had appetizers, but no drinks were permitted (No alcoholic drinks).  Not sure if they still exist, but were primarily targeted to the Asian community.
