Rob, is the reverb or whatever vocal effect on that recording coming from the recording unit or your PA unit, and if it is coming from the PA, what unit is it? It sounds great for this song!!

I would love to be able to sub songs on this site.  I am just not that technically inclined.  I have tried a few different methods and it is just plain and simple hard for me.  If I could go out and be recorded and then just upload the song here I would be a happy camper.

Yes Allstar, I do have something to say.   I run a professional one man show, I don't need half the town to help.   WE also trained everyone that worked for us, to do it by themselves.    It's not that complicated.     LMAO   :O

Nobody has to hold my hand or back me up.    I'm a big boy. :dancin:

The guy I manage does it all himself.  Heck even I can do it.  It's not rocket science and does not take away from the show as many here have already told you.  Want to see how easy it is, your welcome to come to Halifax, Nova Scotia (that's in Canada) and find out.  We don't hide.

I'll repeat myself.   Too busy being the Bigdog to mess around recording someone.   I  provide professional karaoke.    I don't get paid to screw the bar owner by using his time, to make extra money at my gig, selling cds.

I can load discs, find discs, put discs away, look up songs, run mikes and carry on a conversation, all at the same time and still mix the sound perfectly.

Funny I can do the same thing PLUS record someone without missing a stitch!  But I don't record people on a regular basis nor do I charge for it either so it's not a big deal.  If they want to pay me for a recording they can come into my studio.  But again, it takes absolutely no more time other than hitting the record button when the song starts & stop button when the song ends.

I'm going to start a seperate thread on recording as to not hyjack this one.

BTW - the only thing that I think would slow me down was the complainers
when recording.
By burning the cds at home I think I can avoid a lot
of problems instead of trying to do it all at the show.

Does it record the singer as well?  I would think the mic would need to be plugged into the computer in order to do so.

Who is loading the blank discs, the customer?   Who is marking which song/disc is which?    Who spends time mixing the sound?   Who goes to the store for the discs?   Who pays for the discs?    Send me info on this magic recording machine.    No humans needed to operate it.    Finished product start to finish, all by itself.    :O  Sounds like the Jetsons are here.      I woke up in the future.

Some Dogs are just thick.  You load the CD the same time as you put in the CDG (honest it's not that difficult).  The singer can mark their disc anyway they wish.  Um most stores carry CDs on spindles in packs of 25, 50, or 100s.  The customer will pay for a disc if they don't have one themselves.  The music is going from the board to the recorder so hey guess what, it's already mixed.  Yep, it is so darn difficult, but I guess only for Dogs, at least the Big ones.

If you have a hard drive system, you can just record the whole show & then record the ones that want the disc at home.

If you are recording discs on the fly, then yes you may need a little skill to mark whose disc is who.  I used to record tapes for customers, sometimes up to 20 at a time - yes they were all marked.  I had no problem marking whos tape was whos & it took maybe LESS than 10 seconds to get the next one ready.  There is enough time to start the recording before the music starts, adjust the singer, get the next song cued & ready, pull the corresponding tape,etc...it's called multi tasking.

Quote:

Well if you are doing your job in the first place, the mix you give your singers is automatically the same mix being sent to the recorder via the 'tape outputs'.

Quote:
Who goes to the store for the discs?

You can buy in bulk & sell to those who want one or the customer can bring in their own.

Quote:
Who pays for the discs?

You initially pay for them & make your money back as they are sold to customers who want a recording but don't have a disc.

Quote:

No one said this statement - ever!  The claim was made that it takes no extra skill or time to hit a couple extra buttons.

Yep no extra services for your customers.  Once again, it takes no extra time or ability from your 'professional' karaoke - at least it never did from my show or anyone else that records - just makes them MORE professional IMO, since they can run a great karaoke show AND record all at the same time.  Just an added service that makes a customer even more happy than they already may be.
See I never charged for the tapes myself - I offered the service on Sundays only, although I would record on any night if you brought in your blank.  It was something I just offered & the customers loved it.  It was one of our best night of the week we had.  I bought blank 15 minute tapes in bulk, averaged out to about $.10 per tape after all was said & done.
