Takes no time at all to push a record button - if the mix is good, nothing much more needs to be done.

Lonman. I was thinking of the same thing.  Really how difficult is it to do two things at the same time, unless of course one is.........

I have several cds of myself singing Karaoke.  I like them much better than cds made in a studio.  I am not so much interested in how well I sing, but how the crowd reacts.  The live recordings at Karaoke are much more fun to listen to.

I'll repeat myself.   Too busy being the Bigdog to mess around recording someone.   I  provide professional karaoke.    I don't get paid to screw the bar owner by using his time, to make extra money at my gig, selling cds.

I can load discs, find discs, put discs away, look up songs, run mikes and carry on a conversation, all at the same time and still mix the sound perfectly.

But yet he can't put a disc in a recorder and press a button while the singer sings.  C'mon BD it ain't that hard and it doesn't interfere with flow.

I record customers sometimes when I feel like it.

I use my new toy  Mackie CFX12 Tape out to my Roland CD2 Digital recorder.

The roland records on to a Compact Flash Card and can record over four hours non stop. Ill listen to the Recording the next day,,,pick out any good tunes burn a disc and give it to the singer the next time I see them. no charge.

When Mixed right it sounds just as good as a studio recording,

ohhh I love My MackieCFX12

no Really.......I love it

BigDog, you know most times I have to agree with your attitude and of-the-wall statements, but then again times like today you are just being like a bull in a china shop with your statements. You should really consider engaging brain before operating mouth sometimes.

So you cannot record someone and provide professional karaoke? Tough titties, because most of us can multi-task. My wife and I run our KJ business, so we can, unlike you, record and be professional. We also don't screw the bar owner by using his time. He actually has live recording of the patrons in his jukebox, but I bet you have something to say about that as well, and on the last point, we don't make extra money at the gig, it's a service we provide.

Oooh nice - the Roland CD2 Digital recorder. I'd like to have one of those. I think I'll
put it on my wish list.

I can record singers with my Cavs unit and an external drive that I have, but it is a bit of a hassle. I'd rather be able to just push a button and record the whole night.

Is there a cheaper unit than the Roland CD2 Digital Recorder that you might recommand? I probably won't charge anything for people to get a cd recording, so I'd like to stay a littl more in budget.

I think if I just record the whole night and than burn cds at home for people I'll avoid a lot of headaches.

Any one will work , I got a Insignia Does'nt have to be a great name brand, unless your getting one with a built in hard drive for about 3 or 400 bucks. This one costs me 170. Canadian and records straigt on to a DVD-RW at slow speed it will record about 7 or 8 hours. If you stop after each recording it automacly makes chapters which is easier when you ripping the songs out at home. But the sound is crystal clear.
Check out the sound on this one:
