Chuck, what could YOU have possibly written to cause that to happen? I'm incredulous, seriously (or are you being facetious).  PM me if you have a moment...I'm not clear on this.   Frankly, unless someone writes something criminally venal, downright slanderous, culturally or racially insulting or chooses to add porno or other disreputable  links with their posts I can't quite fathom the whole point of this.

Good points and I should explain here because Milo had a questrion about it too.

When I got the email about a ban vote, I rushed rigfht over to the site to see the post it linked to. It was the second wordiest post I've ever written. I saw nothing that could even be misunderstood as a slam to anyone.

The rest will be in a PM to you michael and anyone else who is interested.

Da mn Chuck. Did you really remove all of your comments? That won't remove the ban proposal. They can only vote against you once.   :banger: Don't be scared, Chuckster! I just got two and it's no big deal.  :beermates: I may get moody and send out a whole wave of 'em if I decide to but they're no big deal. If they boot ya eventually then you'll have more time for the things in life that actually matter. This is just an addictive toy. (A big time consumer for those of us that hit it too often)  Stand by your comments. You didn't say anything wrong really. Most peeps are agreeing with that from what I've seen.  This wouldn't be much of a site if everyone started removing their posts. Seems a little radical but point taken I guess.

:2cents:
It was seen as a little too hardcore though. I meant it as a friendly challenge but I couldn't keep from posting off topic remarks anyway. I caved first.

I should have left my comments up but I was more concerned with offending people than I was about getting kicked off the site. I may get kicked some day but I hope not.

Just an observation but anyone that has almost 2500 posts since June 2006 is gonna have something objectionable in their posts somewhere, due to the sheer volume of posts.

Chuck, I have seen you come close to stepping over the line, but never beyond it. Of course at the rate your posting its really hard to keep up.

I'm still working on #500 in the past 2-1/4 years LMAO

Don't worry be happy LOL

Chuck,  Why not ask Phill to wipe your slate clean.  He's already done that for someone else.

This ban epidemic didn't begin until people started chatting about it in this room, and suddenly people started playing around with it.  Prior to this, it just wasn't common to "ban" vote anybody.  Sort've a new toy people have.  I'm just staying out've this whole passing episode because I have so much fighting in real life to catch up on, I don't have the luxury in here these days, fighting with folks isn't relaxing for me, It was a 50th New Years resolution to ignore, and grow up, I just don't have enough energy to be fighting in a room I come for musical stuff, and to nurture friendships.  All this "copycat" banning going on is quite babyish.  Unless somebody attacks me out've the blue for no founded reason, I won't ever ban.  Somebody needs to personally get under my skin, and that takes alot. If I get flamed without any provocation,  I ban.  Otherwise I treat others as I wish to be treated.  Just the way I am.

Given a choice, I'd ignore those I can't stand in here, and they'd ignore me as well.  The rest of the chatter would be civil.

Aww, That's (thinking of less offensive adjective) Morgan.  BTW, nice economical new set of wheels you've got there !  Nah,  I figured this would be a decent time for me to chill abit, and take a little time away from the usual posting behaviour.  Wait for things to chill, and level off a bit in here.  I got set back about 4 days from work, life, etc,  and I have catching up to do.

Seriously,  I don't believe anyone in here would get banned based upon others pushing that button.  Administration does the banning.  Whether a person has 4 votes, or 80 ban votes,  if administration, and management like you, I don't believe you'd be banned.  I think this has become a fear that's unfounded.  I don't personally believe ANYONE was banned by the "ban" button. It's not a nice thing to just click and ban somebody however unless they REALLY do something wrong.

Well, I walked on somebody's prickly little eggshells today and it felt good.  Egg shell walking should be featured in the Olympics.....often when posting in here you feel like you are tap dancing in a bear cage wearing a suit made of porkchops.....God bless 'em.
You know what Michael?

I wont edit that out, since it was directed at you, and you don't like people doing that, but......

Sorry if that sounded rude. I would say I didn't mean it to, but I in fact did. I've just had second thoughts.....

I'm doing exactly what I said needs to stop here.

We obviously come from 2 ENTIRELY different worlds, and would never be the type to click in real life, that being said..... this is a public place, and to each his own.

No ill will meant to you, I'll leave it there.

.
Now that I've time to think about this, this came from the same person who just a few days ago started a thread pleading with us to "knock it off" and not attack each other (see posts above and if you can tell me what it was I said that this person took as a personal potshot please let me know).  Like an idiot, I EVEN APOLOGIZED for something I was not even responsible for.  I bring this up not only to voice my displeasure with hypocracy but as good text book example of how all of us should be careful about  what they say to another person.  Think a few seconds before you type--you may not have anything to say at all sweetheart.  If you are having bad day just stay away from the damned computer and don't up louse other people's emotions or feelings.  Thanks and good luck!

Chuck was trying to not offend anyone, so he pulled his posts. I don't
believe it was to hide anything. He realised he offended someone because he got a ban vote and that was not his intention. I found it a cute way of trying to make a bad situation better. I laughed when I saw it.

I think there may be a point to the editing button conversation. After reading the other post about it. I understand some people are abusing it. I didn't realise that before, but this was not Chuck's intent.

Well, spend enough time lurking around, and you'll realize that some of the ones who are complaining about "editing".... have done some of their own the last couple of days.

What would stop alot of the crap, is if people would call THEMSELVES to task on what THEY are doing, and quit acting innocent and pointing fingers at everyone else.

Michael, it is so childish the way some people say things after they know others are gone for the day. Take your apology back.... I didn't ask for it to begin with.

You obviously don't like me, you've made it apparent. But you know what? I don't need you to.... I'm quit content with you ignoring me.  As to your "think before you type" and your claim that "I did what I was telling others not to do in my Knock It Off' thread"...... I already stated BOTH of those things, prior to your belated effort to point it out here.  I called myself on it before anyone else had to.

I edit things after thinking about them, to save hurting someone's feelings..... only. What I say here is usually read by many, and most know my moods, and my big mouth. But they still accept me, for the most part anyhow. So I don't edit to "save face"...... as SOME of the members have done. (Ya'll know who ya are)

Quit trying to better yourself by trashing me when I'm not around.... I don't think anyone is going to hand you any brownie points for it. Yes, I say things out of line and get pizzy with people when it's uncalled for....... But I am always the FIRST to stand up and take the blame when the mistake is mine. And it's left there for everyone to see.

We obviously wont be getting along- BooHoo- so get on with other things.

Unfortunately, some of us do not know your moods any better than they know mine or the person who might be reading this.  Sorry for "lurking"--I do not really scrutinize you or any others' whereabouts when commenting on anything.  I somehow managed to stay out of here almost an entire day...tomorrow it will be two days...then three...

Do they have some kind of patch you can wear to wean you off of this?

Here's what I've been doing lately.  Rather than get into the "personal" issues, I try to focus on the more technical or subject related matter. I think times like now, focusing on "Karaoke" and "Singing" related matter, and not losing our "roots" or losing site of why we came here to begin with becomes crucial !!!  Once we get to know one-another and talk about stuff outside of subject matter there's a HUGE tendency to at times get into clashes, and see ugliness in people that often-times subject related material can transcend.  While Not all like me, and vice versa, discussing sound mediums,  tape record, and CD technology is a nice reprieve IMHO from the personality stuff that's been going on in here.  For these reasons I've had to stay out've these threads.. I can't get involved in friends issues, and as I've stated I'm helpless when I see several friends going at it.. It's uglier for me, than going at it myself with someone.. Hence,  I must stay out've these threads... There are advantages to my staying on topic sometimes for this very reason.  Sometimes exchanging chatter about areas that drew me here to begin with, are best while embers start to go out, and the volitile periods pass.. WE ALL get in trouble at some point when we get into alot of the interpersonal chattering.. Not sure why... But we ALL do !!!  It's been a tumultuous week in here since last friday.  I knew it would be.. Now it's time for us all to chill..  I've been doing that myself.

Micheal,  I've been reading the Singer's Forum,  My hopes are that the decent singers get more involved in the forum, and exchange ideas.  It's great to see Elisha there, Nathan there, Morgan, Chuck, yourself, and all that are posting there.. If I post too much, it often drives people away.. I was hoping to start the ball rolling and learn and read, not monopolize. I do read the forums. I deliberately am not incessantly blabbing however because I like what you folks discuss without my contributing the minute knowledge of singing I actually have. WHile I love music, singing is not a strong area for me.  With the better singers discussing things such as choral experience, and other areas..  It's more enjoyable than my yacking away..

I'm hoping Singers forum, can develop threads for singers, that are as enjoyable for the more knowledgeable singers, just as tech forum can/should be for those that enjoy the more technical areas..  I've tried to start more sophisticated threads for that reason,  give people something that's enjoyable, and not overstay my purpose.

Ah, but as a musician, and an excellent one--your contributions are very valuable to us over there Steven so don't be shy.  Jazzy is an incredibly well trained and educated (and needless to add, excellent) singer so it's terrific to have her there from time to time and there are several other individuals who have come along whom I think would be interested in getting involved in our "serious thread about singing" there.  Of course, I've only relatively begun studying voice, but I try to pass on anything I find helpful that I learn. I think when we "laymen" singers  find just how effective some of these methods are to improving their overall performance (and often enough I learn something that actually makes what I've been doing easier to accomplish!) I'm sure more and more intrest will be generated in the forum.

PS to Morgan--now don't be taking up all his time with all this snogging and stuff--we need him too!
