Karaoke Forums

In my younger days I used to read a lot. But I hardly buy any of those books. I am taking about work of great writer like Loe Tolstoy, Joseph Conrad, Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, just to name a few.
But, I just come across an online free ebook site that have all those books. For those who love reading classic this site is a goldmine.

Thank you Jian for the classics link. The classics (I hate calling them that--it makes them sound so daunting and unentertaining in some people's minds, but that's the word we are stuck with) are certainly rewarding reading.  I could read Dickens from now until I tip over--such marvelous characterizations and his use of the English language has rarely been excelled. Any other Dickensians in this joint?

Great Expectations; my favorite. Must have read it 3 or 4 times and wach the movie version 5 or 6 times.

The David Lean version? That is a great movie! And EXCELLENT B&W photography.  Hard to pick my favorite..."A Tale of Two Cities" is undoubtedly his most exciting and "Oliver Twist" is his other page-turner but I've always held a soft spot for "Pickwick Papers"--one of his earliest works and the first of his books I ever read. They are all good.  Never could get into Victor Hugo though...I did find many of this books would contain historical references topical at the time that even today would be difficult to learn about.  Hugo had quite a bit of those--so it made for difficult reading I must admit.  Never could get through "Moby Dick" for the same reason--too, too many weird nautical terms.  I'm one to pick up the dictionary but that was driving me nuts!

I like reading classics whilst singing karaoke...this should of course keep the purists happy becos they can rest content in the knowlege that karaoke is still uppermost on everyones agenda
This of course is something only women should attempt as we all know men cant multi-task scuse me while I hit a high note
