Seems that way. I agreed with a lot of what was said in that thread too. So let's do it.
A week of nothing but karaoke. Sounds like fun, doesn't it.

Why do women stop doing this just because we reach 6 feet, and a few hundred lbs ? I never did understand the reasoning behind this ! I've even offered to reinforce the legs of the chair used ! Isn't it descriminatory not to spank based upon age ?
<no not you Billy, I know you want to, but I don't want you spanking me anymore>

SOME VERY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT A THREAD THAT WAS PULLED
I am the widow of a veteran whose death was termed by the Army as “Vietnam Era – Service Connected.” May I say that I am very glad to see that current members of the military enjoy a higher level of support than those who served in Vietnam?
I am the mother of a former Navy Petty Officer, 2nd class, who has done 2 West-PACs (Persian Gulf tours) with honor. Yet again, I am so very glad to see that current members of the military are being so supported by even those who disagree with the purpose of the current war in Iraq.
Texas_Gigi has a quote on her scrolling signature that my husband, my son, and I have all lived by, lived through, and have always deeply believed. I thank Gigi for knowing who said it and sharing it with everyone.
Paraphrased, it reads, “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” My husband believed this with every fiber of his being and lived up to the sacrifice implied in that statement. His son and I have just carried on his legacy as best we can…
Some may ask what this has to do with the thread that was pulled. If you read it before it was pulled – you already know why I’m sharing this. If you didn’t read it just know that, to be safe, most strongly held personal political views should usually remain outside of a public forum.
SOME OTHER THOUGHTS ABOUT THE THREAD THAT WAS PULLED
I am a natural (genetically) platinum blonde – born that way. That’s why my username is Blondie! It is not because I am a Debra Harry fan nor is it because I want to pretend to be stupid. If someone actually wants my Curriculum Vitae, you would be very bored, but let’s just simply leave it with the fact that I’ve been published in multiple fields including Geologic Education, Geophysics, and Mathematics.
Bottom line here: I am a blonde and I am not stupid.
That being said, I actually collect blonde jokes simply because I sincerely believe that if one is to tell jokes they need to do it about who THEY are - not about someone else.
In other words, I reserve the right to tell jokes about myself and freely recognize the right others have to tell jokes on themselves. But I consider it very dangerous ground to assume you have a right to “make fun of” or disparage others… aren’t there actually Federal laws that prohibit doing that sort of thing?
.
So even if something that was said in the pulled thread was intended as a joke, please, know that I saw it – though I didn’t report it (thank you very much, Charmin) - and I found the statements made in reference to blondes EXTREMELY offensive.
Bottom line here: I haven’t logged-in or posted here much, but know that, in the future, similar comments will have me logging-in to actually make a report myself. I am a natural recluse but the thread that was pulled has already redefined what I considered to be my limits.
Peace to All,
Ellen a.k.a. “Blondie”

Ellen you write extremely well. If you add humour to your obvious intelligence we may just see Kappy getting a run for his money :oh yeah:

Why did I ace Geometry, but still can't comprehend principles of basic Algebra ?
What type of abstract mathematical abilities does a musician who has an excellent ear utilize when assimilating and intricately applying what's absorbed by ear ? Is this just geometric ? Pattern recognition ? Melodic, and harmony flow ? I can't memorize two sentences of song lyrics

Yeah, but I still really stunk at algebra. Probably goes back to geometry being more visual a math area ? Algebra pure memorization ? Just like quantitative science ? Did I mention that I have such a horrendous block regarding ANY aspect of algebra, that it got to a point where a friend (who's a college math prof) assumed if I learned correctly, just basic principles would enable me to grasp algebra one.. He was WRONG !

Thank you, Morgan
My sense of humor broke years ago. I've been limping by with a poor substitute for a long time. Usually it works better than you're seeing tonight...
...I plead the insanity of the current topics.
And nobody can keep up with Kappy...though I've enjoyed watchig you try

See Morgan,
I told you about 4 hours ago that I was exhausted, and my sentence structure, and general compositional abilities go down the drain when my fingers are left alone at night without a brain to watch over them. So this is attempt 2 at bon nacht ! Or is it guten ? Dunno.. Been too many years since I studied latin

Kappy <--- tragic example of ramifications from days past when medical science didn't recognise LD's, and Excitatory/Inhibitory problems with a childs limbic system, and other neurological problems.

Sounds like your first question requires an opine from the field of psychology where I have done very little study.
If I had to give one answer without going abstract on your latter question I would say pattern recognition is probably the most important tool I used to play a musical instument as a child. That is the only basis I have to measure how musicians learn to do what they do without abstract analysis.
Peace be
Ellen

It would require abstract analysis. Pattern recognition and the finite possibilities (limited equations) being the reference point. Trial and error. Just like putting together a puzzle I suppose

The tragic part of being mathematically inept, is that I'll never have the ability to solve the questions healthy adults have in life. Such as the circumference of a 100 lb nerf ball, or, how many standard-sized balloons filled with helium would it take to lift a 200 lb male off the ground in 0 wind conditions.
