In the latest 30 topics there are maybe 8, maybe as many as 14 that pertain in some way shape or form to either karaoke or this site and karaoke in general.  Yet people go into topics that have nothing to do with karaoke and complain about the fact that people aren't talking about karaoke. They say, "them thar 'tards is bringin' down tha site!" Welly welly. Mayhap they should start a topic that pertains to something interesting about karaoke, like how bad some people sing (average subject) or how their last show yielded the bar $1000 and they're getting thrown out next week for a cheaper KJ. I know I don't invade serious subjects routinely unless the peeps in there are already cutting up to some extent or on a rare occasion I just can't help myself because I have to write something that I think is so dumb it will cause the fall of society and I want to see if it actually happens.  There is a button that says "New Topic" where you can start new discussions about karaoke and try to stay on topic. Topics like flirting, avatars, farting, usernames, the weather, outer space, what kind of car you are(?) or any other wide ranging discussion kind of has boundries that if we didn't cross regularly we may actually have a serious problem. In the words of a true American (Rodney King), "can't we all just get along?"   :headscratch:

Pretend this is the typical karaoke bar.....You stroll in and either walk directly to the books n slips and focus on singing, or you socialize, or you do both.....This IS your typical karaoke bar, so find your place and do whatever you want while we do the same. :dancin:

I think you missed the point. I totally agree with what you just said. The topics are not staying with karaoke and so the debate over peeps not talking karaoke should be kept in the topics relating to karaoke.

Kick me for being a b!tch, but, did we really need ANOTHER thread devoted to this subject?  I am confused.

I'm siding with Gilly. (scoot over hon, and make room for me)  :D

This is ridiculous, now we've got a million threads in the Discussion forum ALL related to WHAT the hell we should or shouldn't be talking about.

*Should we talk karaoke stuff, or not?*

*Should we talk it here, or over there, or make a whole new room?*

Pa-lease..... We are arguing about WHAT we should be arguing about, and where best to do it. I think I need a loooong vacation.

I'm just gonna do what I do best, WHERE I want, WHEN I want..... unless Phil or the Admins tell me I'm doing something wrong, I'm gonna ignore this current batch of nonsense. If you don't like it..... ban me.

.

I prefer the site as is. The argument is brought by All Star and a few others who actually consider themselves "premium posters" because they feel they stay on karaoke topics and don't get into rants about other things. Their calling other people tards on this site has gone way too far and if you actually look at their posts they are maybe more guilty of being off topic tards than anyone else. The standard topic for some of these peeps has been nothing on any topic, just the same old rant about what people are talking about. That is why I created this topic at the same time or before/after two other peeps to give them a place to rant so we don't have to listen to it anywhere else. Otherwise they would be guilty of their own accusations, which I fully expect them to be guilty of anyway.

All the talk about changing the room is for a very few peeps who have nothing better to do than make trouble where there is none.  All of us let other peeps talk about whatever they want to. It is (as you say) up to the admin to decide if people are spending too much time on other subjects. You will (probably) never hear that from an admin as this site makes money in volume. The more peeps that get driven away by this nonsense (as you correctly put it) costs the site future monies. Therefore they do little to take a side because they really do not want to drive any of us away. So we try to settle this until it is either settled down or someone else is banned to keep the site non-confrontational, as it should be.  Those who keep this ball rolling (and I do not believe I am one of them despite starting this thread) should probably be aware that if admin does step in it would be to make a new round of warnings or suspensions. This is of course, just my opinion and like all of us, it's real limited how much that counts for.

I'm all for no more talk about this but it comes back over and over because some people want a karaoke site that speaks karaoke and only karaoke, which is a good way to kill off the site. (In my opinion)

-Nuff said for me-

I don't know WHO started all this, nor do I care.

Hell, I don't even know if they are considering ME one of "the tards"..... I hope not, cause THAT would pi$$ me off.

Being here to have fun, being bored and goofing off a bit.... does not make someone "a tard".

But I will say, right down to the last one of them.......EVERYone here has crossed a line or two. (these "imaginary" lines that are being drawn) Be it bashing, taking a thread slightly off topic, or being downright slutty...... EVERYone here has done what everyone now is bytching about.

Welcome To The Class of 2006  !!!
In the famous words of Rodney King

"OUCH OUCH OUCH, HEY STOP, OUCH , OUCH,  OUCH, STOP KICKING ME YOU ,
OUCH OUCH OUCH"

"hey where do I go to cash my $7million dollar settlement check"

Karaoke is suppose to be fun !!!!!

Let's Summarize.....Things I've learned in my tenure at KS
Yes it's illegal to copy cdgs, everyone does it but nobody admits it
Undercutters are everywhere its called free enterprise
my way of doing rotations are the best
No you lost the contest because you're either are a man or a  flatchested or overweight girl--face it
Vocopro DOES SUCK
Behringer on the other hand -- NOT ALL BAD
Soundchoice is number one choice
KJ's who sing every other song suck
Filler music/dance sets  at some venues REALLY ARE OKAY
$50,000 sound systems to host a $100 Karaoke show is INSANE period
Lonman is the man for tech advise
Timberela loves his Yorkvilles and gives you straight advice
Steve Cappy - God bless you 8,000 posts - your fingers must be bloody from typing
Mr. Oct -I only  wish I could get a gig like you - Singing and gettiong paid well
Knightshow - One of the most passionate karaokers

I could go on and on ----- WELCOME AGAIN THE CLASS OF 2006
It IS your year to shine !!!!!! :handshake:  :handshake:  :handshake:  :handshake:

Sweetcheeks, leave your mark on this world...Make them install guardrails as you pass by and you will live forever...Define the limits.

Opinion noted.

Now for those of us that have been on here for a BIT longer than three months, I'll say that BEFORE the singers showcase, and it's success, the the talk that was going on in the "general discussion room" WAS about Karaoke. Look at the name of the forum for god's sake... "KARAOKE SCENE" and the url is "WWW.KARAOKE-FORUM", not "billy bob's beautiful blunders" or some OTHER general discussion forum.

It was created FOR karaoke.  Try learning a little history here before going off on who you think is causing all the trouble. For all your jokes about the "premium posters" and jokingly talking about TARDS, the sheer reason we're talking about ANY of those things TODAY and yesterday is due to the threads you're creating as of late! Duh!

I'm all for having fun, and as you pointed out, I can go off topic. Milo was correct when she said it's human nature. MY main gripe is when it's serious topics that those of us want to talk about have a serious flood of just mindless blathering about other subjects. I don't care PERSONALLY what you guys talk about, but create your OWN damned threads, and let those of us that are talking about stuff CONTINUE to talk about our own topics of discussion.

Yes and there are plenty of karaoke topics going currently but the only ones you are worried about are the ones that do not pertain to karaoke. Stay in the karaoke topics and we should have no problem whatsoever. Why worry about the others if you have no interest in reading them?

These threads are the result of you and yours coming out and calling peeps tards and saying that Steven should be ashamed for writing 6800 posts and so on and so on. The original posts are still there and guess what? Someone got banned for it. That should say where the site stands here. ...and no it was not you who said that but it is only a few who continue to stand by the statements as if they were the shining truth. These threads are a result of you and yours, not anything I have done.

I don't care PERSONALLY what you guys talk about, but create your OWN damned threads, and let those of us that are talking about stuff CONTINUE to talk about our own topics of discussion.

These are the threads I have shown up on for the last week or two:  Tell me how many you think are serious karaoke threads.
1. Good Morning (coffee thread)
2. American Idol
3. Keeping karaoke on subject (My thread)
4. Your Username, how did you pick it?
5. Do you get star struck?
6. Voices that touch the Heart
7. I'm a Dodge Viper
8. What do you find sexy?
9. Flirting
10 ROFLMAO
11. Payday
12. EBay
13. People are leaving us (An old thread and a Chuck2 thread that you should have no use for)
14. The Universe
15. Hand Gestures during singing

How many of these do you find serious karaoke threads highjacked by me or anyone else? These are all of 'em so it seems like my name shouldn't be coming out of your mouth when you make general statements about people highjacking karaoke threads. I don't come in and make jokes where peeps are in a shop discussion or seriously going back and forth trying to enjoy each other's karaoke knowledge or company.  If you have a problem with these topics that I have spoken in then stay out of them. They don't pertain to any serious karaoke knowledge and supposedly they don't interest you in the least. So I don't see a problem so far. At least not where I am involved.

I guess that all of the peeps in here will be more aware of going into a serious conversation and going off topic so you get what you want, either way. Now we can all go on and talk about whatever we want, right? Peeps here shouldn't feel like someone is going to bite their head off if they create a fun topic. Is that okay? Or should they all be karaoke related? The site says talk about anything(!)

Personally, in my humble estimation, anyone who uses the the word "tards" so freely has not yet reached the maturity level of a 14-year-old....so much for this this thread. Takes off glasses....

I guess no one knows how to read anymore. Reading is fundamental. I didn't propagate the use of the word except as it was pointed at me and mine so you don't know what you're talking about.

I have never seen more reading and understanding issues than I do in here.

I may have jokingly referred to it as it was pointed at me but in truth I see no humor in the use of the words to describe Steven, Chuck or myself or anyone else who it may have been aimed at. (As a few of my later posts concur to)

"Propagate"....don't know what I'm talking about but I do spell okay.  Jeff, you should never automatically assume anything I or anyone else writes is automatically positioned at you directly unless otherwise specified.  Thank you....

Let's have some threads based only on karaoke. Let's have all of the posts stay on topic. Is it worth trying?

The people who have lodged the complaint that the forum needs to stick entirely to the subject of karaoke, which I can respect; please say something interesting about it and we will discuss it.

Maybe we can give it a week to see if we can do this. Let's see if this will work. One week, nothing but karaoke. If we can get a consensus, a nearly unanimous gesture, to post nothing but the actual subject of karaoke maybe we will learn to conform to the elders' wishes.

Come on elders, start a topic. Let's do this thing. :D

No attitudes, no name calling, just good ole karaoke. What have you got to lose?
