We just got done subbing my first song to let you all hear what I mean by sounding like I'm in a tunnel Please let me know what to do different as to not sound like that ( in a tunnel sound) I thank you again for your input as always.

I would like to recommend that you not stand in a tunnel when recording.
Ok, seriously I'll go have a listen.

Hey Kelley, congrats on your first sub. I do know what you mean - it sounded a bit hollow. However I don't really know what would cause that. Could be a lot of things. Maybe the mic you are using or the quality of equipment. Are you plugged straight into the comp with a mic? Maybe a different soundcard. Anyway, I will defer to those techies with more experience that can truly help you out.
Once again - nice job!!
Bill

Thanks for the encouragement Bill we have been racking our brains trying to figure this out. But anyways thought we should mention that this was recorded in our mobile studio with quality equipment condenser mic, Behringer Eurorack MX1804X, Recording straight from mixer.

Maybe the mic is picking up just a bit too much. Maybe put a sock over it or some type of mic muffler. See if that does anything.

try compressing it a tad, lower ur mids, and try a new verb setting, what type of mic r u useing? but still great singing....all this is JMO

Sorry, I just don't comment on all but a few country singers on this site. They never seem to extend the courtesy to give me feedback on anything I submit so I just ignore them. I have never figured out what this is all about...I'm sure it extends to other people who generally don't sing country music. I may not have a deep appreciation for a genre, but I do listen to other types of music when I can and if I think the performer has merit I will mention it.

Should I be offended? Im not. But should I be ? Country isnt all I sing OR listen to. I actually have commented on just a few people here already but have lots more I'd like to listen too including yours. I'll get around to it I just wanted to be part of it too by subbing a song myself. I hope you weren't "assuming" that I wouldnt comment on your subs . But.. by all means ignore me . Its ok I can take it.Why even comment on this thread with such a comment?

Hey, just went and checked out your sub...sounded good to me...I don't have any suggestions for you on the 'hollow' sound...I'm still trying to work out all the bugs on my recordings. Anyway, I really enjoyed my listen, keep them coming.

Michael, After all of that I did take the time and listen to a few of your subs and even commented and found you are a great singer, I really would have gotten around to listening though, just dont hold it against me that it took longer than maybe you thought it should. No need to be so whiney ( if I may ) with such a beautiful voice like yours. You should know by now you got what it takes to hang with the big dogs !

Sorry, just had a bug up my behind or something when I came in this evening...I have my evilish moments too folks! Regarding your recording, I think Jazzy Bags gave the same suggestion I would have given...you sounded just a bit remote; don't know if it was actual distance from the mic (my first guess) or in the reverb...I would try moving closer to the mic and playing with the reverb a wee bit and see how it sounds.

OK we tried this again We changed the mic and think that was most of the problem
This new sub (as the other one) doesnt have anything but a little reverb in it. Im still thinkin I know I can sound better than this so Im not quite happy yet but we'll work on putting different effects in now that the tunnel sound is taken care of. We'll have to do that tomorrow the studio is in the garage & its not a/c so its hot in there tonight!
Its crazy, We put our sm58 in there and it sounds better than the condenser mic , a proffesional recording mic that was in there. Anyone know why that would be ?
Anyways please take another listen & let me know if you think the tunnel sound is gone or Im just crazy.
Thanks again, Kelley
