There does seem to be some appreciation of the talents involved, even if one is not necessarily a fan of the genre being performed. I think none of us who submit on SS appreciates nothing better than hearing from someone whose style and preference of music could be construed as the "antithesis" of the other singer, although most of us here realize we all are doing basically the same thing just applying it differently. I've learned just as much listening to some of the rockers and country music people than folks who normally do the type of music I'm fond of doing.

Do you suppose the vast age spread has alot to do with this ? This is a relatively older group (on average). Older and international brings an array of diverse style, but also better quality.

Geez, I don't know...frankly I think the "other" site has far more older people than this one, although it's probably the same mix---just "seems" that way to me. We have people on this site regularly contributing from age 80 to 16. Average age group here seems to be mid-30s. By the way, on SS my profile age is 42 and on here it's 41...I could live with that!

I don't know why people leave the site..I for one, have had a blast on here in the short time I have been on here. I have no desire to leave unless God decides to call me home. I have met a lot of neat people on here and whether they can sing or not, I still do my best to leave them with nice compliments...I know I am not the greatest singer in the world, but I won't tell someone they stink either. I was brought up with the saying "if you can't find something good to say, then don't say anything at all" Brent Lamb said it best in his song 'Quiet Please'.....
"Quiet Please, too much has already been said, just let it be and learn to listen instead, 'cause sometimes through the silence big problems become small. If you can't find something good to say, then say nothing at all." The Bible also tells us to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" I wouldn't want someone to tell me I sound awful or can't sing, so why should I tell anyone that.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now...hope I haven't offended anyone. If people want to leave, let them leave...don't criticize and throw stones. Grow up people

Sorry, I don't read the Bible and don't intend to, but thanks--see Thread #503: "Irrevocable Damage the Bible has Caused", posts No. 33, 36, 37, 99, 116, 122, 124 ibid.

Most damage to me resulted from the counterindications, and volitile affects that take place when childhood innocence (where there is still a chance at happiness) and pious relatives mix. Very tough to survive unscathed

Hey MJK....I wasn't trying to get anyone to read the Bible...I was just merely stating that that's how I try to live my life and believe me, I will be the first to admit that I am far from perfect. I can understand why people want to leave, because there's too much hatred being printed here on all these forums...that's part of the reason I don't post, because not all of the replies are fit to read. I have let my submission on songs slack off too, because I was afraid of what people would think, but then I remembered that it doesn't matter what people think of me....so I submitted Matt Redman's 'Heart Of Worship' and decided to let God have all the glory and I will take a backseat. Someone commented on one of my latest submissions that I was on here for a reason, so far, I haven't figured it out yet, but it made me feel good that someone still cared enough to stop and listen to my songs and leave me with a nice compliment. Granted, not all the comments I get are as nice, but so far I haven't met anyone that hasn't had a nice thing to say about me(I think even your comments on my songs were nice). So again, if I offended you, I am sorry....and I don't blame you if you stop listening to my subs and stop commenting as well...I won't hold it against you or anyone else that decides not to listen to me....I am not on here to be a 'people pleaser' anyway. - Tonya

There hasn't been much quality on here in quite a while. Quantity, yes, but not quality. High post counts but nothing meaty in a vast majority of them. I would imagine why many have left or not posting.

I don't know what consititutes as 'quality' to some people but some of us do put a heap of effort into our work. We could also say there's not as much quality in music, film and tv as there was 25 years or so ago. I know that when I work on a music project, the amount of time & energy I put into it is quality. I am not a vocal acrobat but I do my best, cause I care about what I am sharing..

There isn't much quality in the discussion forum. This is where
we let our hair down and talk about anything. From time to time we have some very
intelligent conversations about karaoke in the discussion forum. Yeah it turns silly a lot, but again that is because it is the discussion forum and not the tech forum.
Now the Tech forum I think has some of the most knowledgable people around.
They have helped a lot of people including me. I don't think it is fair to say that isn't quality.

That thought had occurred to me as well.

he's not talking about SINGING, but the online posting in these very threads.
Tons of quantity, hardly anything of quality.
For the rarities of life, I actually agree with Tim on this issue!

I personally marked these posts as GRADE A. They meet all the recommended standards of the very best karaoke forums in the entire WORLD.
They rock!
You've heard the whole deal about 1000 monkeys all typing at the same time for 25 years would eventually write the works of Shakespeare?
Well at this site they write the collected works of 1000 monkees.
(no..really) :drums:

Generally speaking, it would be nice if posts on these threads constituted more than 3 or less words on any given subject or response.
