That would be cruel.  My yelling is far more aesthetically pleasing.

This guy has a decent ear.  If you enjoy Tull's softer side, listen to his guitar and keyboard rendition of "Wond'ring Aloud"

I enjoyed this synth and guitar arrangement he picked out by ear.

Yep, this guy did a great job on this old J. Tull song!  The fact that he picked it out by ear makes it even better.  As far as a cover version, this is about as good as it gets.

This Brazilian guitarist although decent is just so damn aggressive it's annoying.  Must've driven Eric Gales crazy...

Interesting jam none-the-less, but this Hector guy really gets annoying.  See if you folks agree, this is the type of musician that always must be louder, and play more lead than anyone else.... Must step on alot of toes, too.

I always enjoy looking back at a few decent companies catalogs.  So I figured since a few are quite fond of Carvin, this might be enjoyable if you have a few spare minutes and want to see what was what around the time, and prior to when a few of you were born.

http://www.carvinmuseum.com/decade/70-guitaramps.html

This is Carvins full line. Speakers, cabs, etc...  I was just looking at Amps trying to research what speakers they used prior to manufacturing their own line (assuming they do)

A guy I was in bootcamp with was a former sound engineer. He swore by Carvin. You couldn't bring the subject up around him because he would never get finished talking about that company.

I used to know a lot about Carvin becaue of that guy. He did manage to convinve me that Carvin was a big deal.

I've yet to hear a negative remark about Carvin.  Assuming a person isn't totally happy, their return policy is extremely fair.   Considering they've been around since the 1940's,  and they still are mainly mail order (I assume people living in California can go into a showroom not sure), and a respected name, they are doing something very well !   I think they are one of the (if not the oldest) guitar manufacturer(s) in the US still going strong. Epiphone of course is now Gibson.

(I've also never known anyone who's returned a Carvin item either).  We discussed this about a year ago.  Carvin has managed to maintain a quality that few other companies have been able to maintain throughout their history*

*I think-  (People I knew that bought Carvin even in the 70's and 80's were real happy).

Here's another interesting article.  Hartley Peavey's story.  What inspired him to get into the business, etc.

I'm a fan of Lou Reed and the Velvet Undeground. They were very influential.  But $155,000+ for their first recordings?  Wow!!!

That's pretty interesting.  I haven't clicked the link yet, however EVERYTHING considered "classic" or "vintage" has fallen into a VERY exploited market.  Especially if it pertains to the 1960's.   For some reason, THAT particular decade has really become a sensationalized period of history.  Although it was a VERY influential period for music.  British invasion, etc.  Rock music took quite a few turns around that time.  Ballad went from the "I want to hold your hand" type cutesy comp. to "Long Long Long",  "Dear Prudence" and the harder styles we have experienced ever since in one form or another.  In a sense the "Psychedelic period" or contemporary music styles ALWAYS remained.  Just took various turns. In the 4-5 years the Beatles were composing music now known as "Classic Rock",  just look at the change in style from "Meet the Beatles",  "Beatles 65" to Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road, and the White Album..  Pure "boyish love ballad" to Hard psychedelic rock in such a short time... really amazing.  They WERE quite innovative.

Compare the rate and depth of change in music from 1964 to 1970 with another six year period of 2000 to 2006.  I'm having a hard time scrounging up one significant change in the latter period of time!  LOL

One bit of Beatles trivia: the first Beatles song ever played on US radio was I Want To Hold Your Hand on Dec. 6, 1963. Can't remember the station name though.

That's all very true.  John wrote a majority of the earlier hits, then Paul took over in the hit department from about Revolver till the end.  In the latter years John wanted to write more things that he liked without as much concern over the potential popularity of the songs.  If something ended up being a hit then that was just gravy to him.  Also he admitted that LSD affected his songwriting style quite a bit from 66 till 68 or so. Dr. Robert made that introduction. And of course Dylan introduced both John and Paul to marijuana and folk music when they were on their first tour in 64. That influence made quite an impression on them personally and in their song writing.

I don't believe prior to the Beatles ANY UK band ever did or could've had a hit release in the US due to certain issues that existed in the early 60's and prior between the UK and US recording industry and bigwigs during that time. I'm not sure if prior to around 60-62 any British band ever had a huge hit that was recorded in the UK.  The Beatles started and bridged the span aka "British Invasion". Erected the bridge and paved the deck of the bridge for other bands in europe to make it big here. Epstein, and those affiliated with the Beatles anyway ! Not certain about my facts,  but I think these are somewhat accurate. I won't take tremendous umbrage if someone tweaks my facts.  I'm curious about this. Just a vague old memory. First release I heard of "I want to hold your hand" was the German release on Something New... Or was it an earlier album around 1963 "Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand?" Whatever it was... Pretty much started the British Invasion in the US as you mentioned.  It was the first chart release, and big radio release,  As to whether it was their first US song ever heard,  I don't know.. Likely was.. Although I'd be inclined to think SW enthusiasts that got the BBC World Service were hearing a deluge of Beatles material around 62 and 63..  That song Was recorded in both languages.
