Hard to believe some of this is about 40 years old.  I can hear his voice so fresh in my head.. Those horn arrangements too..  Them and Chicago.  As if they are still around, and I haven't heard these songs in years and years.

That's really amazing retronaut.  It's so difficult to envision Negron as 65 years old. I need to read what's going on in his life.  I really had LOADS of respect for these folks as musicians in the 60's up til the early 70's when they tapered down somewhat.. (or were no longer huge acts). You know,  I don't recall, but did the band end because 2 out've the 3 vocalists just didn't make it to even mid-life ?  Such talent lost, because many couldn't handle the lifestyle, and period.

Does it count if I happened to look it up through the BS & T link in the Chuck Negron Wikipedia article?  hehehe

It was a guy named Al Kooper...who was the "bandleader" of BS & T

Well,  Since you were being honest Dave.  I'll be honest too.  Within different periods of my past, hearing the name you brought up reminds me, that within the past 25 years,  I've looked that up at least twice,  knew that, and TOTALLY forgot this :(    So you looked this up, and YOU will recall this for a long time.  I probably look this up every 10 years,  say to myself  "Him, Al, not to be confused with Alice Cooper", and within weeks or months I no longer recall ANY of this, and ask questions that ARE in all honesty genuine questions when I ask them.  I just forget that this isn't the first time I've heard this  :(   Oh, to get old, and it gets even worse I hear..  In time,  chances are slim I'll be able to return home from shopping with

1-  My purchases
2-  My keys and automobile
3-  Anything on my shoulders
4-  Knowing which home I live in

I didn't actually "cheat" there though...I looked at that article before you asked that question when I read this thread the first time...since BS &T and Three Dog Night are a couple of my favorite groups, it interested me that there was a connection there

.  Speaking of trivia.  Do you realize a duck's quack has no echo ?  OK,  this is about as technical as I get...

because the duck is quacking on a flat body of water with no walls and top.

I am posting a mix of 3 songs using different settings of vocal harmoniser
Mr October you will get a reasonable indication of the different settings. None are what you would call top knotch but then neither is the singer

Apparently,  I am guilty of spreading what turns out to be an urban legend.  A ducks quack I guess does echo after-all.  I thought this to be a scientific fact it doesn't, I was wrong

Get the duck in a large hall and get it quacking. You will get it. Or record the quacking and play it back loud in the Grand Canyon

Actually, Chuck Negron was truly the only one of the 3 that is fortunate to still be upright. His 20 plus year heroin addiction cost him everything but his life. Millions of dollars, pawned gold records, houses everything. And even though the band reformed for several attempted comebacks it was Chuck's addiction that caused them to fail. Having said that he is a survivor, clean and sober, looks good and very fit Unfortunately, he can't sing his own TDN songs let alone any of BS&T songs. The current BS&T show that is touring includes 40 minutes of BS&T songs with a lead singer that sounds very much like DCT. It is Chuck's backup band that plays. Then Chuck is introduced and comes on and does 40 minutes of TDN music. By the way, Floyd Sneed, the original drummer for TDN, is Chuck's drummer.

Here is a little info on the other original members. Currently, Cory Wells and Danny Hutton (the other 2 dogs) along with the original keys player Jimmy Greenspoon and original lead guitar player Michael Alsip tour about 100 days annual. They do a 70/80 minute show that is well worth seeing if you are a lover of TDN music. As a footnote, this band was the largest grossing touring band for a couple of years (69,70,71). However, they never earned the true respect of the music community because they were not singer songwriters. As such they will most likely never be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

Keep your eyes on ebay for an eventide. I picked one up 2 years ago for around $500. There is no better harmonizer on the planet than an eventide.
