First we'd need to clear it with the EPA.   I got shot down by the Western world protection agencies.  Perhaps Jian will have better luck over where he is with the Eastern world EPA.  If-so,  I'd need to relocate.  In which case, many animal species would end up migrating here to the Western areas after they experienced my singing.  I have a feeling any geographic area that wants to retain some harmony and balance in it's ecosystem, isn't going to let us do this. We likely won't be getting clearance to do this.

How could we forget Karen Carpenter ?   She really had warmth to her voice.

Regarding females of my time.  I'd have to put Karen Carpenter up very close to #1 if not #1 regarding this category.  Of course I haven't thought about it in much depth yet.  Voice that touches the heart,  I can't offhand think of anyone like her in terms of female ballad vocalists.  There were a few close.

Jian,  The Eastern world isn't ready for what I have to offer musically quite yet.

Sure,   Just don't ask me to sing though.  Unless this is a comedy.

Gordon Lightfoot had one of those voices that had an affect on me too.  "If you could read my mind" brings back many sensations and memories from High School.

With those types of significant effects perhaps your voice is a cure for bird flu. I was trading and making some good cash in those a few months ago. They say the US might get some this winter. Perhaps you could protect the contenent?! :fright:

I was going to sub that recently. Sang about 3/4 good and then had to abruptly stop it. Maybe I'll do it again soon.

I am a guy (at last check) and I have always liked Seal's work. His bad scarring from the disease he had make him strangely more interesting and his voice is exceptional.  His initial work (Kiss to a Rose?) is very probably one of my top 40 songs (favorites). My wife has the CD. I don't and I'm too tired to look at that song title right now.

I would say Michael Hutchence (sp?) of INXS, who hung himself from a bathroom door after a phonecall to his wife regarding her and their child joining him for the INXS reunion tour took a turn for the worse.  His wife was seeing the singer from the Boomtown Rats (can't remember his name right now) and he was not happy about the arrangements. Michael was what I see as an ideal male figure. He reeked sexuality, intelligence, talent and charisma, yet it wasn't enough for him to keep him from killing himself. Depression and despair are tough to get by sometimes and all the money, fame and whatever else you have don't mean you're happy (obviously).

I've got a song that really moves me.. It's performed by matchbook romance and it's called: My eyes burn.
I can't seem to get it out of my mind, it's like glued to my own experiences and everytime I listen to it, I like it more and more.. It's my own musical love affair. My girlfriend is jalous.. I keep telling her.. if you would be operated by a remote control.. I would love jou just as much! :brows:
Now, I'm homeless..  :?
Women :dontknow:

And the singer would be Damien Rice.. or a Belgian band named K's Choice.

So Tink.. (funny, my nickname was Peter Pan when.. nevermind) There you have it. If you would excuse me, I've got to ask my mother if I can go live with her.

Goof

To me more than just voice but the way he tells stories, Harry Chapin. Without a doubt my favorite musician of all time. I just love the way he tells stories, although many of his songs run over 8 minutes. It's like listening to adult fairy tales that spins new web of intrigue.

His voice is raspy average but to me, he's definitely the bard of my generation.

Without a doubt adjectives such as profound, poignant, intense fit Chapin well.  Taxi, the Sequel, Cats in the Cradle, WOLD were powerful songs.  That guy was one of the few that really could get my eyes watering, or should I say, it was hard to keep them dry when hearing any of the above songs.  Extremely emotional lyrics, and he really doesn't pull any punches with his emotional delivery.  Really gave an excellent concert too. Without a doubt the most powerful, and intense male story teller of my time (in my opinion).

JT of course is good.  But he doesn't have the delivery of Chapin.  None did

Quote:
Oh, I've got something inside me, to drive a princess blind.
There's a wild man wizard, he's hiding in me, illuminating my mind.
Oh, I've got something inside me, not what my life's about,
Cause I've been letting my outside tide me over till my (over til my time -sung in falsetto-), runs out

Song modulates to different key...

In falsetto'

Baby's so high that she's skying
Yes she's flying, afraid to fall
I'll tell you why baby's crying
'Cause she's dying, aren't we all

I was reading about the 1981 accident, and I didn't recall the "heart attack" from what I'd heard in the past.

Quote:
Chapin died on July 16, 1981 in an automobile accident on the Long Island Expressway at the age of 38. He was headed to perform a concert in Eisenhower Park in Nassau County when his car was struck by a truck. An autopsy showed that he had suffered a heart attack, but it could not be determined whether that occurred before or after the collision. Although Chapin was a notoriously poor driver, Supermarkets General, the owner of the truck, paid $12 million to his widow in the ensuing litigation.

Actually hon you have it (@$%&#!) about face. Hutchence was seeing the wife of the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats. (Sir Bob Geldof) Hutchence wasnt married although he did have a lengthy affair with kylie minogue

A couple other "pull at the heart string singer/songwriters" were Jackson Browne (early stuff) and Karla Bonoff from the 70's. What about the current day singers?
Hmmm.....  Anybody care to name a couple?

Yep Eben.   It wasn't about Chapins singing voice.  It was about how he could tell the story, and how he integrated everything he had into the ballad.  In his particular case loneliness, and suffering were themes he conveyed extremely well.

I never wrote an autobiography about either man so I'm not surprised I had some facts wrong. I know they had a child together and she was supposed to join him on the reunion tour. You live over there so all those facts were probably blown up quite a bit. It's just a shame that he killed himself on the brink of a new tour, a new start. If I corrected every mistake written in here I would be writing until the end of time. I'll try not to set my facts in stone from now on.  Thanks, Morgan.

Also some of the older JT.   "You can Close your eyes".  However I don't feel even JT had the pain and emotion behind him, and ability to convey lifes pains to the degree Harry Chapin was able to.  The agony came thru his voice.

For females Kate Bush really touched a nerve back in the eighties when I first heard her  (around mid-80s) yet SHE took some getting used to,  intially her soprano range was VERY tough to take given the high level of energy she put out..IMHO
(naturally I had to learn many of her songs to accompany female vocalists too)

Janis Ian- Between the Lines album
and Helen Reddy also were emotional sounding singers IMHO
