The creepiest performance I ever heard was by michaeljayklein in the Singer's Showcase. It was just a truly foul, sort of evil sound. Yikes. It was creepy.

My grandmother was punished for using her left hand in school, and had it tied to the desk and behind her back, to force her to use her right hand for writing. If she forgot, and went for the left hand, she would be smacked with a metre stick. When I was young, I thought that was amusing. Sad, but amusing, a difference  in times..... interestingly, she wrote equally well with both hands. She wrote with her right  hand, however, and ate and sewed etc with her left:) I guess they never completely broke her:)

My friends daughter was using her left AND right hand to "paint" in pre-school, and instead of letting things play out, her teacher forced her to only use her right hand to draw, saying that she needed to choose a dominate hand, or she wouldn't excel at writing with either.  My daughter was an obvious righthander from the get-go, so i don't understand the confusion for this child (who is half a year younger then sky), isn't there some SORT of way of telling which hand is dominate, or is it REALLY very important. I would have simply let the child figure it out for herself. What is your opinion?

0n a side note.... my daughter learned to ride a two wheeler today! (she got a bike with training wheels last month, and I took the training wheels off today:) Took about half an hour, but she HAS it.. i am very proud, i know. Sad, eh?:) We are Biiiig biker people, and I can't wait for her to mature on it, and take her with me on the trails:) (Ok, ok, a long ways offf...)

Im a LEFTY!!!  And Im in my right mind....... ha ha ha ... ya I know.. very old.  

Yes, Gilly..... for some kids it can take a long time for them to establish a true "dominance" for handedness ..... Up to 7 in some cases (tho rare.... most have it figured out by 4) ..... but they should ALWAYS be allowed to figure it out for themselves.   Like with anything else.... if the brain isn't ready for something... and its forced ..... it has a nasty of way of sneaking up on us later in life.  Im surprised an educator of "today" is actually trying to make the child choose.  

I too have to be "selective" about where I sit at the table ..... so as not to disturb those "picky" right handers like KAPPY ..... hehehehehehhe    

WTG ..... Sky on learning how to two wheel.  I am sure she is VERY proud!!  I remember when my son learn .... probably right about her age .... and I was extremely proud of him, Gilly..... normal mommy stuff!!

I think that's why I decided to be come proficient at typing...you lefties will know what I'm talking about when it comes to writing with pen or pencil--smudge city all the way!

It took me wanting to be able type online while lying on my back in the dark badly enough before I started to get quite accurate and fast
