Thing is, I'm a babbling idiot 99.9% of the time anyhow. So it would make no difference in my speach pattern to meet someone famous. To be knocked "speachless".... now, THAT would take some doing.  LOL

LOL.. perhaps that's really my problem then too, because I'm pretty much that way all the time too.. I guess adding the whole "celebrity" into it just intensifies it for me and I must say, it's not a pretty sight in the least!

It's easy to realize what ends up happening.  You lose sleep for a few nights before you are scheduled to (fill in event) with a famous person. You go FAR out've your way to think of how you will impact and people please.... You get to know the person, you realize this person isn't only famous. but they are also capable of being blazing A&&es, and you start to wonder WHY they are so big, (it takes little for them to fall from the high podium you've placed them on)... In time some you like, a few you end up hating.. To you, they aren't famous anymore.. LOL

Some will repeat "I'm (fill in persons name), that's why" as a reason for all too many things; This DOES go to the heads of MOST...(whether they appear humble or not for a good portion of the time).. You also can NEVER forget who's famous and who's the peon when you are with these people  :(   NOR can you forgot how easy you are to replace, and how people backstab, turn on you, and one day you show up, and you are no longer welcome in the studio, JUST like that...No explanation, no loyalty, you've been screwed over, and by whom... You never get to find out..BUT, you ALWAYS are expected to respect the :Code of the Road:, ONLY say positive things, NEVER get involved in conversations that are potentially confrontational regarding these people, that you are 100% accountable for anything you do say, imply, because you signed something.... and if anyone finds out you are a name-dropper, or backstabbing even by their Guitar, or Amp tech, remote friend, or soundmen,  word travels and  you are easily black-balled..  It sucks !

Oh yeah,  Did I mention the double-standard.... WE are just the peons ?  Anybody can say ANYTHING about us or trash us ?  We are toilets and must smile ?  NO THANKS.  Of course that's rock music,  My guess is little else is much different. Wait my own experience with jazz blues was MUCH different.  I was Teddy Wilson's last bass player.   That I CAN admit to.. Probably the sweetest man I've ever met.  Of course he was no longer actively famous.. That was in his remote past.  He was just a local now enjoying doing his thing  (or one of the last bassists)..LOL,  Did a few gigs locally

(as to what constitutes famous ? Dunno, Teddy was "famous" because of Benny Goodman, and Glen Miller)

I have never been star struck....I have walked by famous people and not even realized they were there..Others had to point them out..I think it is a huge invasion of privacy when people bother people that are famous....

I beleive they should be left alone to do the things all of us take for granted everyday....To think that I could possibly be someone that is bothered that way if I was famous really bothers me...They are just people..

I once had a photo taken with an IMPROV troupe in Texas...Their name was Fresh Garlic...They all were really cool..I think I may have even gotten an autograph or two...LOL...Nevermind...That's not true...I was in that troupe so I don't think it counts....All us famous IMPROVers still see each other and hang out all the time..No big deal....I think we are just as famous as anyone else....

It's interesting how different they often look "in real life" isn't it ?  LOL ..

You don't often notice them , usually because they don't wear a T-Shirt displaying there name, with arrows.  They often aren't quite as tall as they look in the "love Scene", or the dark glasses don't show the facial appearance you see on TV with makeup...I lived a few blocks from Paul Newman, and Joanne Woodward when I grew up in Westport.  He's only about 5' 6" (with thicker soles).. Wore dark sunglasses, never made eye-contact, and isn't the type of person in real, many would wish to stalk.. My piano instructor when I was 13  (jazz pianist John Mohegan) also a Westport resident (and I DON'T mind saying this) wasn't the most together person, or great teacher for a kid that wasn't good enough to be studying with him... He was abusive, kept the TV on, and always had a bottle of Scotch in his hand EVEN while he taught.. at $13 half an hour $20 an hour (back around 1969) that just wasn't right.. He couldn't care less about teaching me, he was extremely impatient, and he smacked my knuckles with a rolled up newpaper,  this is the God Honest truth !   Sad thing was Jazz lessons were a gift,  I thought I wanted them until he said to my mom,  "He's not ready",  and started drilling me on Hanon, Bach, two octave scales.. It was an ugly experience...  Anyway,  I'm still viewing this as a pissed off kid,  not a mature adult realizing I shouldn't have been trying to take jazz without knowing the rudiments at that time... I also had severe ADHD,  no one knew about that in those days, especially the slow hyperactives. I couldn't have possibly absorbed that stuff... Many probably thought I was retarded  LMAO... Unbeknownst to my parents.  THESE people were correct !

I know someone who was thought to be autistic, he suffers from ADHD still. They put him in remedial everything in school. He is now a meteorologist. Still has ADHD and uses Ginkgo for it these days.

When I worked in that club 11 (yipe) years ago, I admit to being a little star struck at first...but it kinda wore off...

After having Jerry Lee Lewis leave my boss in tears (she was a sweetheart, and we met his EVERY whim, but he STILL ripped on her) and Kim Wilson (of the Fabulous Thunderbirds) act like he was the King of Everything, I realized that although they were stars, they were still just people...and quite a few of 'em were...um...well...I'm not gonna challenge Otto.  LOL

Thinking about this reminded me of a couple of other famous people who came through there once or twice...Reggie Miller...THE face of the Indiana Pacers...highest-paid player on the team...was one of the lousiest tippers I EVER saw...he actually thought we should comp him for a $3 beer...but, on the other hand, Marshall Faulk, who was a rookie with the Colts that year, was one of the nicest guys I ever met in the place.  Kinda quiet and reserved...heck, if you didn't know who he was, you wouldn't know who he was...tipped well...just a nice guy.

You went from Brazil to Russia in half a day ?  Pretty good !  Don't you ever get jetlag ?  Or is the desire to spread good karaoke internationally too strong to let you succumb to the small stuff ?

Has Klaus Miene ever really learned to speak English? Older Scorpians stuff sounds like it was written by someone who knows nothing about the language like the instructions that come with some of the cheaper unassembled furniture pieces.

Probably not Chuck,  Some excellent vocals are sung by foreigners mimicking our language (what they hear) repeating diction, word sound only.... they can't speak it, nor do they know the language, or understand it.

Actually,  I wasn't totally honest.  There WAS that one time long long ago when I was a very young child, that I did wrestle with a case of that "star struck" stuff.

I shook hands with Ozzy Osboune once in the late 80's I wasn't really nervous but he said something to me but I couldn't understand what he said so it's a mystery.
