Quote: Hey, new topic! "Songs that Make you Sick!"
Funny thing Michael, over the years some of the song lyrics that I found most annoying grew on me... Initially like Fungus, but I learned to like it...
Your a Genie in Disquise, full of wonder and surprise, so betcha-by-golly-wow
The ALL time worst IMHO, was Paul Anka's "Having my Baby" BLECH.... that was just horribly tacky for radio play IMHO.... Of course today that might not be considered PC, because certain groups would fear it sends a message to teenage males that it's OK to have irresponsible sex Of course he never did do a sequel to the song as the kid grew up, and started looking exactly like the Mail man.

Watchin' Scotty Grow has to be on that list somewhere for being ultra sappy.
There was the bubble gum genre in the late 60's like Yummy, Yummy, 1910 Fruitgum Company and almost any Archies songs. Sad to say Paul McCartney's "Silly Love Songs" from 1976 too.

I'm throwing this out for ONLY the under 40 age group. Because I'm curious how many even have heard this... If you are older than 40 please let the younger folks have a shot first... For those of us that are over 40, this is a piece of cake... OF course Dave (squid) would know this too...
"They ask me why, I'm such a Hairy guy"
I'm curious as to what is known by the younger group regarding Rock History, that likely doesn't get replayed on FM radio, rejeuvenated on Nickelodeon, etc..

I answered in PM Tinkerbell. I'm staying out've this one. I can hear the voice, don't know the song.. It's one of those frustrating moments...

The fellow I worked with at the radio station had a fondness for creating his own "song titles" to popular songs we played. Here are a few of them...
Honeysuckle Rose: Honey Suck My Nose
Who Blew Out the Flame?: Who Blew Out the Phleghm?
I'm in the Mood for Love: I'm in the Nude for Love
Six Lessons from Madame LaZonga: Sex Lessons from Madame LaZonga
Eloise: Eloise, with the Social Disease
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: Shmuck Gets in Your Eyes
Needless to say, this was the height of high comedy to a 16 year old....and why do I still remember this, at the time ephemeral, nonsense?

Still alive and untouched
Tip Toe's In Silence ...Round My Bed
And quiet's the raindrops...over head
with her everlasting smile....she stills my fever for a while......

That would be "Hair"...from the musical of the same name...I believe the Cowsills had the best-known hit recording it

No, One song I DO try to sing, is "Never my Love" by the Association. In fact I wrote to Larry Ramos in Hawaii when I stumbled upon his website that was originally on America Online. Saddest thing, the Association was fabulous as they were, with Windy, Cherish, Never my Love, Requiem for the Masses,etc.. Are now just about totally forgotten... The Association Site which now consists of mostly 4th generation members (of course) only had about 30 hits when I stumbled upon it.. It was up for 8 months !!! CRAZY but true... I wonder HOW many of those hits were from Ramos himself, family and friends etc.... It's sad... A few well known musicians I know from the 60's and 70's era, live in the past. They thrive on what they were... I guess I can't blame them at all, THEY WERE all that.... at that time... Now, they are has beens.. THIS is why I believe it's truly sad when Somebody says
"Mississippi Queen"
(some 90's band)
Eat your hearts out !! :worship: :worship: :worship:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000 ... nce&n=5174
What if one of US wrote a song, made it famous, and 40 years later somebody said..
$*#)## by (some cover band of kids) and left us completely out've it :(
For those that don't know Mountain, here are a few samples. Keep in mind this music was listened to at WELL over 120 DB's for hours a day in the 60's and early 70's

This one was Alice Cooper. Maybe a little too hard.

Dave, Yes. That's "Hair" The first Rock Opera. Which was shortly followed by Jesus Christ Super Star..and it WAS in fact the Cowsills. Excellent :worship: Of course how could YOU, not know this ??
I wonder how many folks your age, and younger don't know any of these songs however ? That era, or rebel period of the 60's was such a MASSIVE period for R&R, The Beatles were getting into the psychedelic period, I got my first 10 gallon Aquarium, A chemistry set. My second Guinea Pig died, We bought our second Pekingese, My sister and I each chipped in 25 bucks ! How could ANYBODY not know about this HUGE period in the 1900's ? But yes, there are those that are deprived, they just aren't aware of the significance of this particular few years of Rock and Roll/Pop history !
