I'm trying to use my CDRWin to burn a disk.

Before anybody starts their pirate accusations:

I have a disk that is slightly scratched and wont play ONE song, that happens to be a fav of mine, so I'm trying to save it.

Anyhow, now that THAT is out of the way....

I did just install a new HD, but I have used CDRWin twice since then.

Here's what I'm getting when I try to burn the disk:

Quote:
Error 'START DAO RECORDING'command failed on device 1:1:0 Unable to set recording speed

Wassat mean?  :headscratch:  (@$%&#!) bullshit
I googled a bit for help, but those tech rooms people talk too much fast gibberish for me to follow.

*Slooowwwww english only please*  :D

Oh, ya..  "DAO"  stands for "Disk At Once"...

Try it at a slower speed...

And be sure it can read the sub-code..

Three causes

1. disc does not have enough capacity
2. A track header is wrong
3. A track has a time of less than 2 seconds.

Eliminate one track at a time The one thats scratched first.  Clean the cd with anti scratch stuff.

Try TAO track at once..

And............DA stands for "dumbarse"

I shoulda realized that.  :D

Okay, so maybe I'll try track at once.

Brand new disks- thought of that, tried another.

The files all open fine in Winamp?? So they should be valid files......

Hmmmm. I'll be back. Thanks guys.

Can you change the reading/writing speed?  I can change it in CD clone.   When I get faults it usually stops reading at the scratch.  It can't get past the scratch.  You might try doing one song at a time.  Get around the scratch and do a compilation of the songs, then do the disc from that disc.  Understand?

Try polishing the scratch out.    Get a Disc Dr., or use Brasso as Lonman suggested.

Apparently not. Even when you curse loudly at your monitor, and slap it around a bit, that feature STILL wont pop up in CDRWin.

I got the demo version of this, and I used it to burn the cdg, it works fine. I'm just.... ticked OFF to not know why CDRWin quit working for no good reason. Things like that bug me to no end.

Any scratched CD that I've ever had, and mind you- they've never been serious scratches- if they wont work in my player,  I burn them onto my comp, they play FINE on there with my winamp & sax-d program. I don't know, I just gave up on the CDRWin thingee, atleast until I can look at it again in a, uhhh, "calmer" frame of mind.

Understand?

Dur, dur, no.... Can you repeat all that more slowly? What, you think I'm an eejit? I said speak English, not Dufus...

Yeah, yeah, I recall reading that somewhere. I'll have to give it a shot.

Thanks BigDog.

I can solve your problem quickly.........

But you stated recently that you have no use for engineers.

It seems us engineers are never wanted, but always needed.

Makes me raise my price for my secrets.

Just how badly do you need to solve this little problem, Sweetcheeks?

What's it worth to you?

Blue Stained Shoes, the demo version of CDRWin is limited to burning at 1X.  It is possible that you bought some new CDRs that have a minimum burning speed higher than 1X, which means they won't work.

No, I have one of those stacks of 50.... and they're over 1/2 gone, so it's not that.

The only think I can think of that I even changed... (and please don't think I'm a dork if this has nothing to do with it) Cause..... I'm a dork.  LOL

I installed a couple of new Audio/Video programs recently. (Roxio, Pennacle Studio, Vegas, and T-Rex) Now, beats me if these could change settings in something upon installation... I'm just saying, that is ALL I have changed on my comp from CDRWin working one day, then not working the next. ?????

...thank you Mike.

I did that too Matt. I tried to reinstall it from a disk I had it saved on, didn't work. So I went to the website and tried to download it from there..... same thing.

Pinnacle is a DVD burner program, Roxio is an audio burning program.

Ah well, I don't think I'll ever figure it out.

I did get CD Clone to work, but I don't really like that program as well, so therefore I don't want to buy the full version of it. (so...let's see... I got about 17 days left of my 21 day free trial to figure this out? )  LOL

I really don't burn cdg's too often, it's just irritating when you can't figure something stupid like this out.  :(

You should go to www.padus.com and get the trial version of Padus' Discjuggler, which I prefer over CDRWin for disc burning.  The trial version limits you to burning at your drive's slowest speed and , like the CDRWin demo, will last forever.  Hopefully, THIS will work.

Okay, I will go try it out.

Thank you.... maybe I'll like this one better.

So, you liked that little post of mine about engineers, did ya?

I need it.... very badly..... so, quit teasing and give it to me... NOW.

:D

Okay, seriously, I can't get it to work, so name your price. I'll see if I can afford it. (if you're still willing to help... and not currently "ignoring" me, that is)

I did get Clone CD to work for this one cd, with that Daemon thingee majig... but, why add another freakin' step, CDRWin always worked perfect for me before.

You little mother (@$%&#!) !!!

What do you want, me to beg?

Well, you've forgotten who I am then, cause I don't beg.
......Not for computer info anyhow. You wanna see me beg for something, well, you'll have to come a little closer Keith, and try out all your skills in person.

*throwing you a bone*... here, gnaw on THAT Keith.

(where's the "flipping the bird" smilie, dayum it?!?!?)
