I also love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.  I positively love Boston, the music can take me to so many places!

When I first read this question I immediately thought I would like to meet Joni Mitchel, then Phoebe Snow popped in there as did Carole King and Firefall....  When it comes to favorite singer or group it is really tough!  Eek! How could I not list Heart?!?!  One more, then I'll stop listing who I would like to meet - Jo Dee Messina.

I have met Van Halen, this was approximatly 1980 and I shared a house with 3 guys, they were just like the older brothers never had...  Anyway, one grew up next door to Eddie VanHalen and the group was playing in Denver (we lived in Boulder).  My roommates mom came over from California and we all went to the concert, and  backstage.  After the concert we went to the motel.  My roommates ended up sending me home with the mother....  Very good fake big brothers.... Of course they stayed! ;)

I have also met either Brewer or Shipley from the song "One Toke Over The Line".  I sang it at our karaoke show and one of the non-singing regulars told me that the guy from the group had a sister on his block and that the guy comes to the club sometimes when he's in town.  He's a very non-descript gentleman who doesn't like it known who he is.... He's very nice..

Hi Suzie:  You have a very impressive list... One of the lead singers of 3 Dog Night ( I think Chuck Negron) is known to frequent Dimples, a major karaoke bar in Burbank, California ( I wonder if he sings One, Joy to the World, or one of their other hits)  Joyce

Since they are family (cousins) they get good travel rates from my mom their travel agent.  She manages and arranges our whole families guilt trips ~

Since I began this thread topic, I may as well add to it....When I was a child obsessively listening to AM radio back in the 60's, I was first taken back by Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane's voice, it influenced me enough for me to decide at the age of 10, that I wanted to be a singer in band..she was my hero (egad!)  Well, 2 years ago I did meet her.. I was able to ask her many questions that I had dreamed of as a kid.. I havenever considered myself start struck but I asked to take her picture and she responded in her typical fashion, "I don't give a sh**, go ahead"

The other person I met was Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & Papas, 2 times, also within the past 2 years.  A woman walked up to me as I was singing on stage and looked at me smiling, just standing there.  It was her. I had to keep singing although I froze with shock inside.. When I finished she approached me.. She liked my version of Please Mr Postman..she asked me if that was the Shirells, I said no, the Marvelletes.. I gulped..Yep I was bold enough to song a Mamas & Papas song in front of her.. She came up to me and hugged me... and then I'd come home get on SS and read from those that ranked how bad my pitch was, my breathing limitations..You can't please everyone but it's nice to get a seal of approval from someone in the Industry

Both women were more approachable and down to earth than my neighbors..lol
To make a long story short, to meet a few people that I would hear on the radio way back when my obsession with music began, ad one that truly influenced the way I sound today is one of the most beautiful, profound  experiences I have had in my life.

I've said it before..... and my answer is still the same:

George Jones. I adore that man.  :D

There are tons of others I'd like to meet also.. but if there had to be just ONE,
it would be him.

The thrill of getting to meet him, and maybe pull out some guitars and sing with
him....... would be priceless.

If I've got He Stopped Loving Her Today, I'm gonna sub it. I love that song. It still brings a tear to my eye when I sing it.

There are so many singers from so many different styles that I would LOVE to meet, but if I absolutely had to name only one, the first that comes to mind for me is ELLA!!  Ms. Ella Fitzgerald is my hero for someone who completely is free and knows how to use their voice.  The amazing melodic scat she would come up with never ceases to blow my mind while at the same time just plain having a beautiful instrument.  I would love to just have a jam session with her and really learn some things about communitcation through music!

Some other jazz artists in particular who I'd love to meet are:  Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gerry Mulligan, Paul Desmond, Vince Guraldi, Pat Metheny.. and on and on..

I think Jazzy and I would like to meet the same people.  Stan Getz! I used to work with a disc jockey who never tired of playing this one particular Getz track, for obvious reasons: "Ladies and gentlemen, 'Whatever Lola Wants"...Stan Getz!

Another couple of musicians I wish I could have met in their zenith in France was Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli...just listening to these guys, you knew they were having such a wonderful time.  Besides that, is not "Django" maybe the second coolest name of all time?

I've met and got to chat with several of the oldies stars in the past 3 years such as Andy Kim, Billy Joe Royal, Al Green, Dickey Lee and numerous others.  They have a Caravan of Stars in Jackson, TN twice a year and there is also a night of meet and greet where you can actually meet and talk to them some.  Pretty cool.

But if I had my choice of one that I could meet and just sit down and chit chat with it would have to be Tanya Tucker!  That woman is my HERO!

I would also like to meet Rita Faye Wilson who was known as Little Rita Faye when she was a child.  I was named after her so of course I would like to meet her.  She lives in Texas and is married to Earl Sinks of The Crickets.  I think it would be cool to chit chat with her.  I have a pretty good collection of her vinyl records.  She sang as a child and then as she grew older did some recordings of Rock-a-billy.  Also is credited on some of Patsy Clines songs with the autoharp.

Fleetwood Mac was my high school sweetheart's and my own fav. Tusk was our album, and we shared several of the songs from it as "our" songs. Beautiful Child, and others were fantastic.  I would have liked to have met Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain but Cobain I would have had to spend time with. I would have liked to have known who he was.

Johnny Cash seems like an interesting life as well.  I feel sorry for Elvis. He had no life in the traditional sense. He would have been interesting if not totally screwed up.
