I looked at several systems, and the 3U was just a bit tall..
The mobo has "high end audio and video" on the board, and includes s-video and composite out header..

So if all works well, no full size pci cards needed..

I only have 375 gig of data, but figured the system could use the "Head Room" with the 500 gig.

Of course, a "Backup" in the car if it crashes..

My buddy is running a system on an HP laptop.. Works fine..

I chose the Toshiba because I have one allready..

I'm looking at a "Shuttle" type case to reduce the footprint a bit..

I don't mind playing with it a bit to get what I want..  :dancin:

I agree with you totally on the full size PCI stuff. No onboard sound and video can do it as good as even the cheapest add-on cards....The onboard stuff is intended to serve a server that streams media via the web, not provide clarity and oomph to an outboard pro PA in a live environ.

Yes, fersure go wireless!......don't leave that beatiful beast unlinked and sitting out in the garage....Patch it into your world where you can reach out and touch it constantly....Once it is in reach like that, it will benifit from your attention....It's a work in progress and should remain so.

SATA hardware raid and support for DDR2 or DDR memory..

Yes, it is equipped with wireless to connect here with my Netgear RangeMax 240 MIMO router.

Gotta keep the updates good..

I went wireless and got all the windows updates now I cant even change a hard drive or video board without YOU HAVE 3 DAYS TO ACTIVATE

I got mine all tore apart now and when I get it back together I'll Have to go Back on the phone and re-activate. Jd do you have the phone number handy to activate linux?

If it wasnt for the dual display bs in 2k Id go back to it.

Thanks Keith. Yeah, given up on women for a bit. Just left my last job also so I have a lot of time on my hand right now. I am trying get my system up to snuff and doing some upgrades. I have done completely digital on both KJ and DJ side. I have a laptop for a back up and put all music on my NAS so either machine can access at high speed.

Just got new front panel assembled so all my connections can be accessed from the front, except for the power. Working on the power cable too. That way I won't ever have to open up my case in the back to connect cables, all done in the front. I will post a picture soon.

I have gone flatpanel as well. Both my screen and singer screen in flatpanel. I have a picture of my singer flatpanel stand on one of other threads here. It works great.

Next, I need to get a skirt for my table and maybe a panel to hide my stuff on the table. I will be set then.

All right wise guys. I knew I should have been more careful.  LOL

I got my skirt for the table made by a local seamstress. It's going to cost me $40 plus $10 for the fabric. It will be ready this weekend. It's not too bad.

I got my rack almost finished. I will post the picture this weekend after getting one more thing finshed up, power connection.

Ok, OK!...I gotta pull it outta the rack in the next day or two anyway....No use sending pics with it racked cause all you would see is the front of it, you wanna see the guts, huh?...
Ok, I'll get a pic of it racked and then a few of the innards....

I am proud of the mods I had to do to the harddrive section...If you buy the same case you will want to do the same mod or the drives are impossible to get to and they will run extremely hot! I wish I had taked "before" pics of the harddrive section so you would better appreciate the mods I performed and why they are necessary.

Basically, you remove and toss all but one piece of the harddrive section...You only keep the stamped steel piece the drives mount to...then you turn it 180 degrees and remount it in ruffly the same location...The mod allows you to easily reach the connector ends on the drives and solves a very serious cooling problem.

The 5.25 drive section is perfect!....It pops out from the top and is shock mounted. It has room for 4 drives....The most you will install tho is 2 drives, so that means you have room for all kinds of nifty/handy stuff that will fit in the remaining 5.25 drive faceplates. You can find inexpensive 5.25 plates that contain all your rearmounted plugs n jacks from your sound and video cards...you can even mount a plate there with knobs and readouts to monitor and control your cooling fans.

I'm betting you too will remove the drop down key lock door like I did...It is not necessary and certainly a pain to leave it there.....Don't be afraid to remove it, the drives and leds/buttons it covers are recessed and not exposed to damage with the door gone....A locking door is good if you have a server that you want to protect from the casual/careless button pusher, but not required for the KJ who needs ready acess to his cd drives.

That would be my S-Video 4x4 switcher. I route my signal from my PC and convert it over to S-Video signal for any external TV.
