Hey Lonnie---I tried the brasso trick on some of my really scratched up CDG's! Worked like a champ! Doessnt restore them to BRAND NEW CONSIDITION--but did make them play MUCH CLEARER with MUCH CLEANER Video words.!!! Ill be reworking all my rough ones.

Next question: would the brasso trick work on Laser Discs?? Or are they much more SENSITIVE. A number of them at the bar I DJ at are in DIRE need of some sort of upkeep.  Let me know ok???

Laser discs will play in almost any condition.  They seem to be not a touchy as cdgs.    For a laser to skip they are pretty messed up.   Any time a laser wouldn't que up, 9 out of 10 times there was a finger print on the info track near the hole.   Don't forget that side A is actually the B side and Vs versa, when looking for scratches.   Is the Brasso paste or liquid?

I would bet that all the discs are made from the same type of plastic.


Did you polish them in a circle or straight out from the hole?


I have had laser discs warp, that won't play right.   They can be flattened again.

Depending on the player and the strength of the laser and optics, dirty/scratched discs might play in one and not the other....If the scratch is deep enuff, no polishing compound will fix it.

Brasso is perfect for the task...so is any very fine grit polishing compound....Look in your garage to see if you have any scrap car wax/polish/cleaner-it too will work.

ANY plastic polisher will work on laser.dvd & compact discs, brasso is just cheaper & does the same thing basically.

Yep, and Brasso also contains a very lite/thin and non damaging solvent that serves to clean the disc....If it will put a mirror finish on soft brass, it certainlt will safely polish plastic cds.....I have 20 years experience with Brasso from polishing my Navy uniform brass

Recording studios & cd restorers have been using it for years.
