I had one song that get 30 + comments non was bad. Yet I told people in the intro to the song that the pitching were off in many places, and those who listen know I don't sing well; just ask Steven. LOL

Jian... we all hear things differently... do you know how many people hear James Blunt and say he can't sing???.. The guy is still more popular than Starbucks... I remember you singing a Rod Stewart song and you pulled it off terrifically.. Anyone that truly knows, me, knows I am serious about music and I don't fluff around.. you can take my opinion or leave it, that's up to you
 James Blunt can sing...he's just grating on some people's (did I use it right there Toher?  LOL) nerves...and yes, I'm one of those people.  JMHO...no right or wrong to it.

There are only three people who for SURE can't sing whom I know to have gone on to have at least some music-based fame...Bob Dylan...a lousy singer but spectacular writer (probably why his songs get covered so often)...Ashlee (sp?) Simpson...today's Milli Vanilli...and William Hung (shudder).
Tom Petty.

Did I say that? Well, any popularity I might have enjoyed may have just dropped a few notches.

Hey Foxe  LMAO    It's my "Signature Style"  I guess when I get "intense" about an area, I want to make sure I've covered my butt. Since I'm always intense, and have a big butt, I suppose I'm better safe than sorry !

I could've shortened the whole paragraph of course, by saying, "There are some excellent Rat Pack vocalists far more qualified than I am Chuck, Who better than MJK, BornSaint, and a few of these really good singers that share your appreciation for those standards ?" I'd have to defer to somebody with better qualifications in your specific style. That's the fairest thing to do IMO. My Forte' <--{note the French accent egeux, not to be mistaken for personal possession of plural forts apostrophe} is classic ballad and 60's-70's R&B, Contemp blues type styles, and Anything Rock... When you get into Sinatra, or the older standards, I have limited ability to help.. To be honest. Too many have vocal training, I don't.

<Scanning for Apostrophes>

<Still scanning>

Yes, I thought for a moment when I heard that submission, "Another Shirley Bassey is born", but realized it was a guy toward the end.  Say Steve, keep the apostrophe shtick as is...it's part of the charm.  I think somebody missed the boat when they said, more or less, why point that out when this is a casual forum here.  The point is, the person writing this way in a casual forum may also be using the same mistake in their resumes, business letters, professional writing, etc.  That was the whole point here.  My partner often corrects me in my mispronunication of French phrases and there have been words I've been mispronouncing for years and when somebody points that out to me, I'm very pleased (sometimes it's almost a revelation to me when I discover the error in my ways).

Seriously Jian,  You aren't that bad. It's a matter of finding a comfort zone, area that best suits you, and going from there. The Rod Stewart ballad you did sounded pretty good.  I can't sing as good as you.  I stink the best in KS !

.

The reason is I tend to sing song that I cant sing. As I said before I sub the recording of my singing practice rather than the real recording.

The few few songs that I can sing well are those of Rod Stewart. Thank Joyce, now I will sing and sub again. :drums: [/quote]

C'mon Michael. Not every comment about being gay is a slam. He was just joking around fairly innocently.  Maybe he is on a personal discovery. Any reason we have to see that enveloped in red glow with the whole forum being "crap" because of this?  No discussion required but let's keep it on the page and not pulled by admin.

:confused: Where did that  come from? Did I miss something? I'm pretty sure that he was just trying to be funny ???  This thread got off to a much more serious start than I intended but there is no need for  :angry: feelings.
