For what it's worth, I have been using MTU products for about six years now. Have nothing but the best to say about their products and their service.

AtM,
Not trying to rock the roost, but the little things such as hearing one side of a story and reading about it as another without fact tend to ruffle my feathers!
No defensive taken except from the mouth of the one who spoke it.
Now, onto bigger things. As for your microstudio software installation, simply send me an email to sales at mtu and leave me your name and email and I will take care of everything for you. We are more than willing to work with people, but you have to keep in mind we receive over 80,000 emails daily so spam filters are working in full force. And they are not perfect by any means!

I sent an email from the website and one from my email client. The spam software may kick the one from my email client again because I am still having trouble with my webserver for the account that I originally registered with MTU.
I did go into my MTU account and update with my new email address hoping to avoid further problems. I hope that helps.

Oh, you're talking about me... ! You can ask the admins about it Dougc... they were the ones contacted by MTU's represenative. The thread the complaint of the owner of the mtu product was pulled by the request of the original poster, due to the letter he received from MTU. And it really ticked all of us off back then, because he pasted letters he'd sent, and their responses. And THEN and only THEN did MTU respond to him, and it was a forceful response at that. Other long term members here saw it as well. So go ahead and be defensive all you want. It happened, and it was online fact here for a few months. Now I PERSONALLY have nothing against MTU other than their heavy-handedness online here. That spoiled me for life against them, and if they were the ONLY option of having computerized karaoke formats, I'd seriously think about giving it up. Thank GOD for the other program of Winamp, clubdjpro, Sax & Dottys and other types of computerized karaoke playing capabilities. No defensive taken except from the mouth of the one who spoke it. And by the way, your response is EXACTLY a case against MTU. You didn't ask one iota about that incident... you came in swinging!
That's all the evidence I need to steer clear away from a company like that.

Knightshow,
What you read is one sided. I followed this incident on 3 boards Keith (yodaddy) was raging on on MTU.
He tried the Hoster Demo, and liked it.
He then bought hoster and Loaded it on his computer then demanded a refund within hours. MTU answered him within a few (4 or 5 hours) and issued him a refund the same day he bought it, and stated they would not sell him anymore products, because of his abusive attitude.
Just form what I gathered from all the ranting and raving Yodaddy did, and knowing the mindset he seemed to have.
I suspect he Bought hoster and loaded it on the machine, got a refund and is still to this day using it for shows. People like this are why developers are so concerned about security. To many people stealing Programs that cost them 10's or even 100's of thousands to produce.
DougC is one of the Most honest and straight forward people you would ever want to know.
I know the mindset of the people for the area yodaddy is from, and they expect something for nothing. Maybe he should have went the winamp route.

Rethink about this statement, if you do not have evidence.

Jian,
I am allowed an opinion just like everyone else if you don't like it don't put any weight into it. Frankly I could care less.
I don't like vocopro products, and will express that opinion also if I feel like it. If you love their products, then by all means Buy stock in them.

Your opinion is an accusation about a member doing something illegal. If you are not prepared to prove it then, don;t say it.

I have stated this is my opinion, When I say it is a fact, then I have proof. I think I was very clear it was an opinion and not an acusation.
My opinion is Sadam Hussien is a murderer........ Do I have proof , No. But I am still allowed my opinion. In our country we have freedom of speech, Maybe you don't

The member that posted this thread only wanted to know what drives were recognized by MTU. Opinions are always helpful it allows the individual to make a sound decision, but when the opinions go from a general response to personal bitterness it does know one any good. If someone has had a bad experience with an item or company relaying that in a professional way is constructive and helpful to the person doing research, but bringing in hateful remarks doesn't help anyone. Regardless of what company it is everyone has had bad and good experiences and the great thing about it is we can choose to deal with the company or go else where. I think regardless of what someone feels is right it is only an opinion and please let it go. :)

My two cents on MTU's support here. I purchased the Hoster and was pretty happy with the way it handled CD+G files. I ripped almost 200+ discs without any problem, except one song. Pretty decent.
However, I had some issues with video files. I had a lot of DVDs that I converted from LDs I had. I tried several programs and several format to convert them so that Hoster can recognize. After about a week of trying, I searched their forum and not finding the answer, I posted on their forum for help.
I got one answer from their support person that didn't even come close to answering the issue. Others suggested some stuff but not what I was asking. I was asking which format (MPEG, SVC, AVI, VOB, BIN, etc.) and which codec (DIVX, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, etc.) should I use so it will be recognized by the Hoster. The files I ripped didn't work, some played sound but no video, some had scrambled video, some played on the control screen but not singer screen etc.
Well, it's been almost 3 weeks and my post has not been responded. I was very disappointed with the response from MTU. Having no choice, I decided to go on with another week's worth of experiment on video formats. I found that the only format that worked was AVI with DivX codec. I wish they would have had some data so I didn't have to spend hours on hours of experiment to find the answer myself.

I found that out with a search of the forum. But I am not using converted ld's. I have a bunch of karaoke dvd's
Some of them you have to remove a sound channel from before converting, and some are just a straight rip.
I am using a program called IMTOO platinum ripper, and it does a great job. I havent had any video or audio problems at all with it. What are you ripping with?

The truth is I am "Yodaddy" from the MTU forums.
...and I did buy his junk, and I did demand a refund afterwards...And then I erased Hoster and Microstudio from my machine....and then I had to rerip all my cdg's and start over....so you are wrong that I continued to keep using MTU after I got my refund.
MTU is too restrictive in that it converts all to .kma files, and kma files will then only play in Hoster.....But get this, then MTU prevents you from converting your files to other formats....MTU will convert any format to kma, but after that you are stuck....that is a very oneway street.
There is other software out there that is FREE and will allow you to play your files in several ways, but not MTU Hoster.
...and MTU threatens to sue you if you find a way to convert kma files to another file format that you can use in other software players.....MTU has their head in the sand.
I can think of no reason a 'worker' from MTU is on this forum except to promote/defend his software and his overpriced hardware.
I just finished building a rackable hosting machine that uses free software for 1/10th the cost that MTU wants for one of their hosting computers and software....AND my machine and the software will allow me to do anything I want with my files using many different FREE software programs. You can do the same once you admit MTU is a ripoff.
MTU is overpriced junk.....let them sue me.

See I don't see it that way. If I were planning on using my music files in other types of players, I could see the problem. If I am planning on using my music files on 1 player & nothing else, then there is no problem if the program I am using does what I need it to do - it wouldn't matter WHAT format it used, there is no reason to switch players.
But if I wanted to use mp3g's, I can still use Hoster with those as well.

At what point does the individual become responsible for what they purchase. Research, Research, Research and then make an educated decsion. The fact that MTU elects to make their kma files restrictive and prevent it from being converted to another format is irrelavant here. What you wanted out of a program before you purchased it is. I can not say what research you did I can only go by your posting, but if you purchased the program under an assumption that it would do what you wanted it to do then that would be on you when it failed to meet your expectations. I think it was pretty professional for MTU to refund the money Knowing the program could still be used. If they misrepresented they product by suggesting it would do something that it could not then I see your point, but even if that was the case they did refund your money. To say the program was junk because it did not offer the ability to convert files isnt a fair statement in my opinion. I would look at the overall performance of a program first. The program is marketed as a Karaoke hosting program not a file converter. So base the assessment on what it is being marketed to do. I'm sure if these questions on what the program could and could not do were asked before purchasing you would have gotten an answer. If you asked these questions before purchasing and did not get a response and still purchased it then again I ask when does it become the individuals responsiblity for what they purchase. :thinkin:

But say MTU goes under, and you are stuck using the current version of HOSTER. Then something total better comes along, and you want to change. Time to re-rip all thoes songs again.
True this may happen with MP3+G files too, but I think the MP3+G format is eventually going to be a standard for computer controlled karaoke. I belive all hosting programs can play the MP3+G format, not true for the KMA format
The KMA file is more likely to go away than the MP3+G file. JMHO
