We had an old '65 International truck once, VERY low geared, and a 4 speed.... if you got giong pretty fast in 2nd gear and really tached it out, then let off the gas completely- without shifting up.... good lord, the rumble and pop would break glass almost. (used to do it in a tunnel in Salem, just for the hell of it) Ah, the good ol' days. :D

Since then my timing has gotten better. Lucky that was my small truck.

Yea thats why we had to turn the key off No vacuum to the advance in the distributor.
Then there the trick mounting a spark plug in the exaust pipe You could blow a flame for 20 feet or more.
All these kids are bored.... I was never bored in my life.

Oh I still modify things My rack mount has a small hdd for the OS and a high capacity hdd for the music.. As we speak im putting the ckt brd out of an old hdd usb adapter in the rack mount Its plugged in the ide cable with the big hdd. If the rackmount computer breaks Ill be able to access the hdd with a laptop via usb. (this is with no power to the rackmount computer) I thought with the ide cable still plugged into the mb it would load the data bus but it doesnt. the only problem now is I dont like powering a hdd and not controlling the heads or powering off without parking them first..
So Im still in them days sort of....

Chuck, I can give you a great example.. It get's back to particular "age group", "culture", and "acquired preferences or CONDITIONING"...
Example, your grandparents saying to you perhaps
"How can you listen to that METAL ?"
Let me give you an example... When Jimmy Hendrix first came out, MANY of WE GUITARISTS thought he sucked !! But now, he's a legend and great innovator...
When Van Halen first came out, we thought he sucked, and was a flashy noisey wannabe... HIs style took awhile to adapt to...
Often-times we don't readily accept that which is very different to our own aesthetic preference... A different example I gave is certain cultures inability to understand what's humorous about sardonic glib, or facetiousness in humor... Humor with a bite... As presented on TV... Is western culture.... Many other cultures do not understand it

I hate it.... Just remember never to buy a vehicle that has been abused in that manner. All of the bolts will be coming loose. It will be a rattling death trap. That's why I laugh about it.

I'm thinking of putting my Ampeg classic SVT head, and cab in the back of my Chrysler Concord.. bringing my Gibson EBO bass into the car... cranking it up... and playing old creme lines full volume.... I love watching glass shake away from the caulking.. and there's nothing as scintillating as the feeling of your hair on the back of your head standing up with each note that percussively jolts your brain around in your skull, and relocates your chest organs a few inches towards the front windshield.. My idea of great music depends solely on which area of my heart I'm trying to get to go into fibrillation..
But hey, I'm no different from anybody else, right ? What's healthy fun, is healthy fun !!

Don't know if I should admit to being an audiophile (might be misconstrued)
But I like really clear highs when i listen to music and it takes a lot of power to push that -- have a 1200 watt reciever -- solved the boom-boom problem by installing a 50 Hz filter on the bottom end of the bass. Can't hear stuff that low -- you feel it!And it's the stuff that travels through walls. Sometimes like my music fairly loud Lived 7 years on the top floor of a condo complex and every neighbor I checked with always said, "what stereo?"

About a year back I wanted to install a karaoke system in my car and I ask about it here. Someone said its not a good idea; safety being the main reason. Maybe some one pick the idea up. Then you can blast up those thump-thump with your singing.
And do it off key to get that irritating efx LMAO

I've lost a lot of the low and high frequencies in my left ear...right ear, just average decline do to age... and some of the lows... It could've been worse considering the only thing that dictated how loud practices and concerts were in the 60's and 70's was threshhold for pain. EVERY rock practice session, jam session, or just playing alone left you feeling as though you had liquid, or a film over your ears for at least a day following.... Like having water in your ears... It was almost constant.. Nerve deafness just about every night.. How I got away with this, well I suppose I'm really lucky... It wasn't safe..

By the way I love your new handle and seeing the real face of AtM -- although that PC graphic was pretty nice, too.
Are all of these changes in honor of your upcoming sub?

Most people above 45 cannot hear sound above 18khz. But I for some reason can hear sound at 20khz. Or is my home test kit not properly calibrated?

There is some classical music that has certain blasts of strings and screechy violins that drove me up the wall Now that I have had some hearing loss not as much.. Also some of the disco clubs with bright lights flashing and ear drum piercing music would have me staggering to the nearest exit..

Probably the only reason I haven't sold my violins, is that they make EXCELLENT tools for retaliating against neighbor's you don't like if say...
.... They happen to have DOGS

the guy across the street washes his crappy pontiac EVERY day.. sometimes twice... (maybe it depends on how many times he went out that day? Dunno).... and he blasts Pussycat dolls, along with garth brooks.
Umm... CHOOSE ONE or the OTHER.... both make me want to take a dump on his car, and make him polish it in.
Either way, i can't stand country, and I hate contrived fake" spice girl" like groups....
and what is WITH the guys with crappy cars, and amazingly LOUD stereo systems? Well, i don't know which is worse.. the music they listen to, or the damn BASS as they drive by...
argh.
ignore me, I am.
