It's amazing the different metabolism's people have.. Some of this must be genetic makeup... It can be over 100 here, and there will be a pool full of people out basking like reptiles on a hot rock appearing as though they are in heaven...
In my case, if it's over 60 and muggy, I'm gasping for cooler air... I'm of Lithuanian blood, I wonder if that has something to do with it.. maybe part eskimo, I haven't a clue, but some of you Floridians LOVE 80's... I can't tolerate or habituate to even that type heat... Just everything about me screams.... I need 40-60 and dry
I guess I'm just a wuss... My parents can be over, it can be 80, and they are shivering, asking me if I'm raising penguins someplace in the condo, I guess as folks get older, the cardiovascular systems change...but dang... I love 40-50... that's T-shirt weather for me... Yet when it comes to cold, I'm no "polar bear" either. How people do that is strange to be as well... cold plunges ? No thanks. IF I spill ice water on myself accidently, I'm afraid I'm goint to go into hypothermia and croak .. Nah, I just don't do well with either extreme Michael... I really think the upper middle area's of canada would be ideal for me. The dark so much of the year would get to me I assume..

"when I die, I want to come back as your soap on a rope"
Morgan, some of the British area's are VERY sophisticated in terms of absurd, or facetious humor... New Britain, South Africa, Australian's that I've known really do have a profound sense of humor.. At least to my own experience.. The British humor is VERY advanced... It even pours into their governing systems. How the house of commons pulls that off, eludes me..
I haven't a clue what I'm talking about now really, I just find British humor to be about the most profound, Especially british people I've known from South Africa for some reason.. Australians too.. I know nothing about New Zealand, I'd get heightsick on your golf courses

Exactly what I would've guessed... You know what's interesting, MANY eastern european, and middle-eastern locations have no understanding of "sarcastic humor".. They don't grow up in a culture capable of understanding sardonic glib, dark humor... Letterman to them is just stupid... Nothing more.. (of course to many here it is too .. But I love that stuff)...Benny Hill.. etc...Very sexual humor too.. often less censored

Many do like a "Jay Leno" type of more "PC" humor.. To me the guy is so rigid, and afraid of offending anybody, there's just no humor.. It's insipid, no edge (IMO)...

I personally can't stand Conan O'brian. he just isn't funny to me and
he steps all over his guests when they are talking.

Bab's, I don't enjoy him either.. After growing up with comedian's such as Johnny Carson, and getting used to Letterman since his first show around 1982.... Conan doesn't touch either of them.. From even Conan's first show, the contrast was so noticeable, that it was a tremendous letdown to me... Some of us have been spoiled by a Johnny Carson era of older school late night talk show hosts. Whether we just got used to it, and acquired a taste making him "the best", or he truly was amazing at what he did (and I'm inclined to think it's a combo of both), Few will likely touch Carson in our lifetime..IMHO.. At least to OUR generation of viewer

Some of you that are younger, might or might not recognise this... I'm sure many females do still... But in the mid-early 80's, Letterman was really getting bashed by critiques as being "sexist", and condescending to women... He was quite hated by not just the feminist groups, but many who thought his humor was just rude, and vulgar.. If you watch the reruns of these shows, at least to me, they were even more tame than what we see today... Letterman took ALOT of getting used to, he crossed the line many times at first...He also helped expand the line...(I think) not sure..
My guess is people that can't laugh at themselves have a tougher time with Leterman, Unless you can really look at life sarcastically. It's VERY tough to like Howard Stern... Whole different ballgame.. Yet not too much unlike Benny Hill in some ways... Just less slapstick... The same connotation basically.. Bodily distortion, and sexual innuendo are quite heavy IMO

I never really gave this much thought, it's pretty interesting when thinking about the evolution of humor. It certainly is subjective, and acquired... None of this is funny to somebody not of the culture...
When you try to detach yourself somewhat, and think about it. What is really funny about "Humor with a bite" ? or sarcastic humor ? We've learned to enjoy it...
Time to grab the bull by the tail, and face the situation. (going to get the mail. 100 degree's %*#) blech)))

Potty humor will never go out of style. But I have to say I'm tired of
seeing guys get hit in the you-know-what.

without a doubt there is nothing better than a good english comedy.
the poms (english) got a bad rap in NZ some years ago when the unions were playing merry hell. Seemed that every unionist interviewed had a pommy accent. They were given the title of whinging poms. comments like "just because you have ruined your own country, dont think you can come over here and do the same to ours"
I happened to be in the UK last year at the time of the underground bombings. To see these so called whingers stoically walking miles home at the end of the working day...some not getting home till near dark. No-one interviewed moaned about the inconvenience. To me that spoke volumes. And you know what? as soon as the tube was up and running again those same people were stoically crowding back on them.
I tip my cap at the poms and love their country (I would happily live there)
if you get the chance then I recommend the following British comedy series...
Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Mr Bean, The Two Ronnies, Open all hours, Allo Allo
just to name a few
*****goes back to rafters to resume fast cooling mms****

Quote: Potty humor will never go out of style. But I have to say I'm tired of seeing guys get hit in the you-know-what. Very true, "Bathroom humor", and "Gallow's humor", are ways we actually cope with certain things.. We always have that strong inner-child, and stuff we find embarassing about ourselves, or too terrifying to stare in the face for any duration are best viewed thru humor at times. It's a backdoor approach of sorts <no pun intended> Quote: three posts illegal
Yep, especially when still on probation for 5000 posts in a year.
Morgan, I've been trying to find "Good Morning" with Moore and Cooke, The frog & peche stuff, and "Sam and Janet who".... cracked me up..

The two ronnies goes back to the days of John Cleese, I think they got a start with him.. Fawlty towers I've seen... Don't recall much, especially the two ronnies because it was a strange busier period of life for me... Didn't get to watch TV, or movies much... My favorite movie, for some sick reason, is pretty easy to watch..
"King Ralph", followed by "Sixteen Candles" (which I need to buy), because the humor was amazing... Peter O'toole, John Hurt, and than throw the crass behaviour of John Goodman on top of that is an amazing combo

"You daughter is into fox hunting too?"
Than she opens her mouth, and in that baritone voice goes
The prospective princess goes.
"Ever since I first layed eye's on you I fantasized about seeing your buttocks while bending you over the railing" to Goodman.. That was just sick !!!
Than the guy from Zimbabwe takes Goodman skeet shooting, and next thing you see, they are carrying their pet dogs back bandaged...
