if you really think you were drugged I'd also call the hospital and see if they can do testing to see if it is still in your system. every minute counts here.

That sounds just horrible what happened. I am not really a drinker, but when I do
drink it is only a couple beers maybe. One night I had 2 beers and was absolutely
tanked. I couldn't keep my head up and my eyes open. Now I may go 6-8 months
without a drink, so it is no surprise my tolerance is so low. But 2 beers- Geez. I think it was because I was extremely tired to begin with.
I'm afraid you were drugged from the sound of your systems. You should take this very serious. Somebody played a very not-funny joke on you! I would call the police just so they can have on record this happened. Then if it happens to someone else they'll know it isn't a one time thing and take it seriously before someone really gets hurt.

Quick update on Sharon...she went to the hospital for some tests and they are still there. Rich called to let us know. She is still not feeling like herself, but hopefully we will know something in a couple of hours.

My vote is for someone putting something in your drink. Never leave your drink unattended. That is a thing of the past. I see guys take their beer bottles to the mens room with them.
It's sounds funny but maybe you should consider taking a container that has a lid on it and pour your drink in it. I would say that you are lucky you are alive to relate the story. Good thing you went into the office and not out to your car. Everyone should learn something from this. If you get suddenly sick in a bar or restaurant DO NOT GO TO YOUR VEHICLE BY YOURSELF. Seek help from trusted friends or the bar owner or staff. Never leave the building. And if you feel sick to the point of puking have someone escort you to the ladies room. Do not go alone. If someone indeed has set you up, that will give them the opportunity to rape or kill you.
Stay safe my children.

She had to visit the doc for a check out.. Three days later... allmost normal..
The guy bolted and ran before the police arrived.. (They are kinda slow in that area)

Quote: Plain and simple, you were drugged most likely by a so called "date rape" drug. You symptoms are similar to those that are caused by them. Call the police and have them investigate. You may not be the only one and I quite doubt that you were.
I vote for this.
Very common thing around here.

What else were you feeling around the time that happened, what was going on in your mind ? Were you tired ? What else went on during the day ? What was your physical condition around that time ? How long had you been sitting, was it very hot, did you stand up suddenly after being seated and drinking several strong drinks ? My guess is you were hot, dehyrdated, stood up suddenly, got dizzy, hyperventilated while singing, and started to have a panic attack. How much did you drink prior to getting up ? Did you drink enough liquid such as water to rehydrate yourself? How hot was it ? You likely WERE dehydrated, and it times as we get older, when it's hot, and we stand up suddenly we can get quite dizzy !! You could've gotten a sudden dizzy spell which alarmed you, and possibly hyperventillated while singing which exacerbated that, and it's always possible if you were anxious, depending on what was going on with your body/mind dizziness thru you into a brief panic attack, It happens quite frequently in people that are suddenly alarmed by a sensation, and rundown. Don't go worrying about "being drugged" until you rule out other more reasonable phenom... Such as your own physical and mental condition at the time.. This wasn't a new place for you..
Believe me, sometimes in sweltering head when dehydrated and tired, standing up suddenly leads to hypotension, blood pressure drops, and people have toppled over. Bradycardia, a sudden drop in blood-pressure when getting up suddenly.. YOu don't have to be lying down... ESPECIALLY if dehydrated, it's hot.. I passed out a few times playing basketball, stood up from the bench, and the room lighting, layout made me dizzy, and I collapsed and puked my brains out.... It's like motion-sickness, the alcohol contributed.... Don't worry about it... YES, this has happened to me..... Several times getting out've bed in the middle of the night to pee....
I think you hyperventilated after getting up too quicky after drinking, and that scared you, that's exactly the sensation you would have had. "The spins"... Following the lyrics could've done that under certain conditions, it's like motion sickness. As we get older, we are more prone to dizziness when getting out've a chair suddenly btw. Also factor in other things. Your cycle, etc..
So before you start assuming the worst, ask yourself the following..
1- Did I stand up suddenly after being seated for awhile
2- Was it hot
3- How much had I had to drink (alcohol)
4- Could I have been dehydrated (also alcohol)
5- Was I talking fast while seated, talking about something that excited me
that caused me to hyperventilate ? Could I have hyperventilated while singing ?
6- Did the sudden sensation alarm me ? Did I panic briefly, adrenaline rush ?
7- Am I physically run down ? Could this be like a flu ? Was I tired ?
8- Are you taking any medications that have a side-affect of getting dizzy, etc.
I know it's terrifying when it happens, but I got VERY dizzy many times on stage, especially in huge colliseum type venues, and large open areas.... I've seen singer's, and wind instrument players faint on-stage... It's not uncommon.
Next time, especially in the heart of the summer, get out've your seat SLOWLY, lifting your head slowly too...and if you've been drinking alcohol, drink PLENTY of liquids to rehydrate yourself...

I don't know Kappy, if she is still so sick she had to go to the hospital today.
I'm thinking food poisoning plus acohol or someone slipped something in her drink.
It sounds out of the ordinary to me.

Bab's, If she truly remember's everything, but physically was that affected, I think rohypnol, or one of the amnesia type benzodiazepine drugs would've caused her to blackout prior to having that type extreme a reaction. Yet you could be correct. I guess when she stated "She remembered everything", I didn't focus on her being "Totally incoherent in the bar office". If she did have an anxiety attack, she would in fact have felt sick at home, and very weakened, and shaken up even today, those are absolutely exhausting, she could've been hypoglycemic from an anxiety attack too... I'm just wondering if she was feeling extreme anxiety at somepoint, if-so, I don't think it was a "date-rape" type drug.. She's a regular at that bar, she didn't mention there was a person next to her, or near her that might do such a thing.
What I think she's going to find, is she either had a 24 hour flu, or the bar was extremely hot, she was dehydrated, hypoglycemic, got up suddenly hyperventilated, had a sudden drop in blood pressure (Bradycardia), and had a full blown anxiety attack because she was physically predisposed at the time.. She could've even eaten something with MSG in it, Depends on other factors, but the fact that the terror symptoms were that acute, and noticeable, is an indication she felt faint, and started panicking very quickly, even before she could recognise what was happening, adrenaline kicked in...I wonder if she had palpitations.. probably she did..... I don't think she's considering certain things... She was sitting for how long before she got up ? She probably did hyperventilate and have a full blown panic attack... I've gotten those on stage too, thought I was dying, didn't know what it was that threw me off... often times a sudden dizzy spell is all it takes to throw a person into full blown panic... It's not always recognizeable... It's physiological, and leaves a person TOTALLY wiped out. It really does scare the living #%&# out've you.
Classic symptoms are depersonalization, and disorientation, a sudden feeling you are going to die, or go crazy... you feel out've control... A date rape drug would likely have exhausted her first...she'd not look terrified, she'd look exhausted..Weirdest thing, is that when I was tired, or just very relaxed there was a strange phenom at jewelry stores that used to happen to me for some reason, It was explained to me that the velveteen type dark background, shining, and lighting conditions have been known to cause VERY temporary blackouts at times, almost like a temporal lobe seizure, you literally do lose consciousness on your feet for a millisecond, never fall, it's the dejas vus phenom... You black out, and come to... So you think you've experienced the exact sensation and place prior...That's a theory behind dejas vus... lighting conditions induce a trance state assuming you are tired, right set of conditions, you do black out but briefly... That scared the crap out've me too... happened alot when driving and I was tired. Lighting might've been a factor too... How tired was she ? Many factors... My guess is anxiety attack..
Just an educated guess. Naturally I know as little as most.. Have no facts. Interesting that it happened WHILE she was singing tho, that sounds like classic hyperventilation symptoms, followed by anxiety...worsened by heat dehydration, etc.

Wow..Hey thanks for all the well wishes and information.
I went on to the hospital. They did bloodwork, urine test, a Cat Scan and xrays. They could not find anything physically wrong with me. They gave me stuff for dizziness and nausea. The doctor said that she could not find anything wrong with me and that her conclusion was that I had been drugged. I was told to take the meds (for dizziness and nausea)she gave me as needed and make sure I drink at least 3 liters of water the next 2 days to flush this crap out of my system.
I'm still feeling a little off today but I definately feel better today. But, I just got up from sleeping about 10.5 hours. Which in itself is kinda strange for me. I think I'll just lay around and watch movies on my big comfy couch today and drink mass amounts of water.
Thanks everyone, you guys are great. And you know what? I think it will be a while before I drink anything again out in public. And if, for some reason I do, I will be watching it like a hawk.
The world is just mad, I tell you, Mad!! I have my theroes about who and why. We will be checking the clubs video camera to see for sure.
See, maybe video cameras aren't a bad thing in a bar atmosphere.

One more thing. What freaks me out the most is this is a place that I have been going to for over 10 years now. I don't go in everyday, but I still know 90% of the people in there at any given time. Sometimes I know everyone. I used to work there many years ago and so did Rich. They have a very loyal crowd. This was done by someone that I know and I thought I could trust.
It will be a cold day,you know where, before I go back without Rich or people I can REALLY trust.

did the blood results come back normal for liver functions?....was the white cell count normal?.....get a print out of the blood tests, and go over each individual result yourself, or with your doctor.
to tell if someone has been drugged, you have to get the test very soon after the incident, in most cases, or it won't show up. Just to reiterate, Never take your eyes off your drink, starting from as it's made............hope you feel better soon.....johnny

Wow! That's scary! So glad you are at home taking it easy... Thank goodness you had a friend there and were able to call hubby.
I don't have any guesses as to what caused it. I do know that sometimes I can drink like a fish and not have a buzz and other times I might have a drink or two and WHAM! But my WHAM is recognizably the drink hitting me..
Take care,
Susie

We have all been a bit sobered by what happened. I imagine it will be a while before we go back to this club. I have spent enough time with Sharon, drunk AND sober, stressed out AND chilled out, hungry AND stuffed, that I think she was drugged. My first thought was stress because the job is stll new and she is having a busy summer, but after I talked to her I realized I was way wrong.
You guys know how great she is from the forums; she is even greater in real life. (I would say that even if she couldn't read it later, heh, heh.) The whole situation is cow feces and it is absolutely pitiful that the most "reasonable" explanation involves being drugged in a roomful of people she knows and while sitting with friends.

Quote: did the blood results come back normal for liver functions?.
She was out drinking the night before, that alone would elevate liver enzymes, or possibly show some toxicity. If they used a benzo type "date rape" drug, the half-life is short, those usually show in urine tests, and within a shorter time.. What I'm curious about is whether or not she's familiar with an anxiety attack, whether that was even considered..Nothing would've shown in the test's either, sometimes at best a slight elevation of adrenaline in blood sample, but hypoglycemia would require the glucose tolerance testing.
Gigi, Squid mentioned the look of terror on her face.. You don't think that could've been from hyperventilating while singing, and getting a sudden faint spell triggering panic ? If I hadn't been rushed to the ER several times, and gotten this diagnosis finally, I'd never be considering it... It happens. I thought it was heart attack, stroke, etc..

Wasn't out drinking the night before. Hadn't drank a drop in over a week. I'm not a heavy drinker, But I can hold my own and know when to stop. If I'm in a mood to pull a bender, I always have Rich with me.
<Edited TMI> I think I'll go cook a chicken...
Thanks everyone...If it hadn't been for all of you I may not have gone to the ER and I would be sitting here thinking there was something physically wrong with me....
And thanks Chuck and Gigi for entertaining me last night...It was fun watching everyone sing even though I was stretched out on your couch in some weird state...And you guys brew one heck of a glass of H2O....
