no, that's cool, I've upped the dollars I will now spend to $1000+. that seems to be the area where you get the most bang for your buck, which is what I'm after.
I like that system for 800. but it would be almost 1000 shipped to here from cali, and the system below would be almost free. so maybe I should buy that Subwoofer local, since that is the reason I'm not gettin free shipping.
Is B-52 a decent name? I don't mind buying from them if you guys say they are Ok, but I've never heard of them.
I was thinking maybe go for the peavey/behr setup, buy a mixer and an MK-22 RSQ (or other), then add a powered subwoofer sooner rather than later, maybe buy used and local for the powered subwoofer. And possibly buy some better mics, but that setup I was talking about earlier comes with a good bit of stuff for only 600, and the name Peavey and Behringer stand out as far as I know.....
http://www.zzounds.com/item--ZZOPA1 - yes or no
this one has mic stands, speaker stands and mics...but maybe these mics aint that great.....it also has the powered mixer not integral with the SUB, don't know how much this helps.....let me know. jim

The Behinger box in the system you were speaking of is a Mixing Amp. Both units are contained in one, so you don't need the separate components.

Yes B-52 is a good name & will blow the sound of those Peaveys away! WHere are you located? If you can wait until Aug 14th, they ship free http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product? ... c=3SOSWXXA
Remember this is just the speaker system, you would still need the mixer & mics as I directed in the above post.

I'm in Delaware or NY for home, or some other state when I am working. Dammn! It would be cool to have those B52s. Had no idea they were good. Well, then I'll probably get those in August, depending on whether or not I can find something better before then, Cool, sounds like this problem is somewhat solved. Not bad
CorePac 70$
Mics/Stand 100$
System 800$
Mixer 100$
RSQ 150$
maximizer 100$
ok, I can handle this.....thanks. let me know if you come up with anything better. but thanks.

I don't think for the price you aren't going to find much better.

Look at it this way, if you don't like karaoke, you have a hell of a stereo!

I've got another question. If I want to use JUST the Smaller speakers with the B-52 setup and not the Sub when the subw isn;t nesc., I can't do that without bringing the subw, since it powers the little speakers as well as the subw. But If I buy a powered mixer instead of the unpowered one you suggested, WILL this powered mixer still work ok with the subw AND the 2 smaller speakers together when I do decide to bring the whole setup??? Another way to put it is, I don't need to buy 2 mixers (1 powered and 1 not powered) if I want to use the 2 smaller speakers by themselves at times or all 3 speakers (subw + 2 smallers) at different times, do I? As long as the 1 mixer I do own is powered, correct?

I honestly doubt you will NOT want to use the sub even in smaller rooms once you hear it. That's the beauty of this system, the sub is small enough to go in even small rooms. You wouldn't want to run the satellites buy themselves, for one thing, you would run the risk of blowing them once you realize the bass isn't there & you start turning the bass up to compensate - just like any 8", 10" & 12" design which is why I recommened this system. When you eliminate the sub, you are eliminating your nice full sound & going back to the non-quality, tinny sound.

My lips are sealed.
Actually reading your original post, it sounds like you are trying to decide if you found a hobby or not. Hobbies tend to drain your wallet the same as if it wasn't a hobby. You need to seriously figure out how involved your hobby will be. Money spent usually determines the money making potential.

[2. I buy 1000$ (okay guys, maybe 500 was too small, you got me going in your direction) worth of stuff that is smaller, more compact, easy to haul around, and I end-up doin small gigs, make a couple thousand bucks, have good stuff for homestyle parties, don't have to lug a bunch of heavy stuff. Happy, I already make a darn good living working just 6 months a year (90k), I am a contracted radiation protection tech. No chicas though, hmmmmm.[/quote]
guess you wont need to invest in lighting, wiv your job you should light up in the dark nicely

High % of kj's & karaoke shows don't use lighting, many still feel why, it's just karaoke.

do you? I hadnt for the 6 years I had been gigging. Then this year I decided I would get a couple and it has made a difference to the over all ambience at different gigs.
folk feel so much less inhibited in dim lighting on the dance floor

It makes a great effect, however, we found out the hard way that some people are highly allergic to the smoke from the oil. Had one gal start coughing up blood, we quit using the machine after that.

It does make good efx but the boy who operate it love it so much that he over do it. The stage was so white with smoke and the singer can see the lyrics.
