http://cgi.ebay.com/RSQ-NEO-E500-KARAOK ... dZViewItem

Ok... I bought this and they told me that it COULD play SCDGs that the sent me and it did work at first but then a week later I went to try them and they stopped reading. It just keeps trying to load and says no disc in it after a while of trying to load.

I have no clue while it suddenly stopped reading them. I was told before I bought it that "the machine was upgraded to read them" not sure if RSQ did it or they did but it worked! for a little then I moved it home and it stopped working. IT STILL PLAYS CDGs and NEO-Gs but not the SCDGs ... WEIRD! I dont think i broke it while I moved it... I was careful.

So I have a gig tonight basically one of the reasons we bought this machine... and now its not working... talk about bad luck. So luckily I read a lot about using laptops so I am transfering all the SCDGs to computer format and I am giong to try to use the laptop. I think I got a hold of Roxbox and it is working fine so far.

So if you have any ideas on how to fix the problem of reading SCDGs with teh RSQ NEO 500 PLEASE PLEASE just reply soon! I have to leave in 6 hours so maybe someone can be superman and save me in time and figure out something to try.

1. I already tried upplugging it and starting it up again.
2. Other discs work
3. I even opened up the system and nothing looks "out of place"

This is driving me crazy please help if you can! anything?

Thank you in advance... ahhh 6 hours

you purchased this from a reputable ebay dealer. why not contact them and ask for a replacement or technical assistance.

Their info says will play super cdg but the specs do not support it. They are a good dealer and will take care of you. But you better act fast! dont let much more time pass before you let them know about your problem.

Question: did you actually purchase from this ebay vendor?

reason for my question is that just for the fun of it I called their 800# and had an interesting conversation regarding this machine.

it appears that up until about 2 months ago the RSQ units would read only one brand of super cdg disc (did not ask which) then RSQ made an adjustment to the machine 2 months ago that allowed the unit to read all brands of super CDG discs.

this particular vendor notified every customer prior to selling the former units that it would only read one brand. and made sure they were completely aware of this before shipment. It is possible that you got one of the old units but is highly unlikely.

Their suggestion is to call them directly and discuss this with them. You can also contact RSQ and they are very accessable as well.

I came to this forum to find out how to upgrade my firmware on my RSQ NEO-e500, and now I am very nervous.  The Karaoke Candy store wants $70.00 to do it because I did not buy from them.  I have been scourring the web hoping to find the manufacturers site where I could get the info but so far no luck.  I contacted the seller and they just respond that the player "I" bought isnt supposed to read super CDG's.  The reason I purchased the RSQ is because I know 3 KJ's using it with SCDG's.  If someone has the phone number for RSQ I would greatly appreciate it because I cant find it.

Ok here is their weblink http://www.rsqaudio.com/

Company name is MediaSync RSQ in California (562) 404-9950 x204

I spoke with Ben at the above extension. He says that when you call be armed with your unit's serial number. Sometimes they can upgrade on E-500 units and many times they cannot be upgraded. It really depends on the exact unit you purchased.

Give them a call....by the way they are on Pacific Standard Time Zone

Good Luck

Sorry to leave everyone hanging... on my 4th visit to the Karaoke Candy store (Parma Ohio) to explain my dilemma I finally spoke with a guy who said he could update my player!  I asked a couple times why this was a secret or why no one else had offer this service to me, and he really would not offer an answer.  So $75.00 later I go to pick up my unit and he doesn’t seem to know where it is... then finally he remembers that he plugged it in on the display to test it!  While he is ripping the display model off the shelf (tearing the 2 sided tape that it was affixed with) the other staff kept asking where he was going with the display?  He told everyone that it was my unit and he was testing it there?

I figured it was used but at the time it was my best option to get an RSQ to play Super CDG's.  When I got it home I realized that it was missing the feet on it, the tray front was broken, and it was scratched up.  I took it back to the Candy Store and told a 5th person what I had been through and he dug up a brand new unit and gave it to me.

Finally my Super CDG's play great on a new machine!!!  Thanks for asking.

also regarding RSQ's response, after 2 conversations and a promise that someone would call me back, I finally recieved an email 3 days later that said currently there are no updates available for your model  There was not even a mention of my serial number being out of range?

 I'm glad you finally got your problem resolved. I bought an RSQ NEO-500 myself from wwww.acekaraoke.com; I've had it now for two weeks. It's able to read SCDG. So far, I have no problem (thank God). However, I've noticed that the player is a little bit slow in reading the next selection when I pressed "forward" and sometimes the lyrics even freezes, but the music continues to play (weird). I don't know if anyone else has the same problem. This is my first CDG player, so I'm unable to compare it to others.

Page 26 of the manual says "Setup LPCM" Remark: when using Karaoke, we suggest you choose 48k because if you choose 96khz, karaoke output may delay.  I cant tell the difference in sample rates but I use 48k, and it loads fast and has played perfectly since I switched.

I just bought the RSQMK22 Karaoke Player and it works OK, but the REPEAT function doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to do. I thought the REPEAT button prevents the player from playing the next track. In other words, it doesn't continue to play tracks like a normal CD but rather stops after each track.

Does your RSQ NEO 500 stop after each track when used with a CD+G disc, or does it continue to play like a CD disc? Also how do you like the 500 as a karaoke player?

Thanks,
Wes

I have not used the REPEAT button on the NEO-500. I'll try it out tonight.

My player stops after each track. I can't really compare NEO-500 to any other CD+G player since it's my first one. I previously own a Pioneer DVD/VCD player and it still works like a charm after 6 years. Overall, the NEO-500 seems to be a decent player. As far as reliability is concern, give me a few more months and I should be able to tell you then.

I was going to purchase the MK-22 player, but given your problems, I'm glad I opted for the NEO-500.

Thanks for the input concerning the 500 stopping after each track in a karaoke disc.

Hey Look its my old Topic!

Well I am still having the problem and I am so pissed off that I dont want to deal with it. But I must now.

RSQ doesnt seem very helpful so I can't wait to call. I am thinking about bringing it into a store in San Diego instead.

Shoot I just need advice...
