Yep ....and that is not the only occasion where the word CASH has been in his posts.
In fact you have over emphasized the point about CASH.
Why make such a big deal out of cash in your posts if you report all of your income, (which I doubt) what difference does it make in how you get paid. If you were not hiding anything then checks would be perfectly acceptable.
In almost 9 years I have never had a check bounce from a bar or a customer.
You say you pay your taxes yet your verbage does not support your story.
If you do pay them and report all of your income...good for you! If you don't they will eventually catch up with you. Too much paperwork trail these days to try to do it the other way. Unless you are a rebel.
Do what you wish but it does not make any sense at all to brag about it to other taxpayers.

Let's take a poll about cash or checks. To me there is nothing more satisfying than the feeling of cash in hand, at the end of the day. I would venture to say that given the choice between cash or checks, the majority of individuals and corporations would rather have cash in hand. I never have to worry about the validity of a check. They can't screw me, if I have the cash. The old one of a bird in the hand, is better than two in the bush. Can't take it back or put a stop on it. No trip to the bank to get what, cash. If you deposit a check you have to wait for 3 days, to clear. Cash is instantly clear. I can spend cash instantly. I don't use bank cards and I would rather pay cash, than write a check. Cash money (in some form) has has worked well for thousands of years. It still does. Make mine cash, please. It has little to do with income tax.

If you get paid "cash" (follow me here) no 1099s, no checks no one knows, why would you want a paper trail?
The message you were sending in this post is quite clear to the average businessman. What else could it have meant except to avoid reporting income. If you were operating your business with sound accounting methods why would you not want a paper trail. Especially when you are reporting all of your income to the goverment as you say.
I understand how cash spends and is very liquid. Most banks will hold the funds overnight if the check is drawn on another bank as long as it is in the same town. If it comes from the same bank then the funds are available immediately if you ask.
Your preference in having cash is a personal preference, but the statement you made above was not about preferences. There is little question in my mind what you were saying.

Not to mention that in the vast majority of jobs you have to wait two weeks to get paid, ie paid every two weeks or twice a month.

I get so tired of this old one flapping around in my hand.... I'd settle for a bush these days...

What if your boss, the bar owner pretends it never happened? Are you going to run to the IRS? Hey, MR. IRS Man, he paid me CASH. No 1099 either. I would like to report myself this instant. Take me directly to jail. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200
The bar didn't have to wait 3 days for me to sing all night and chase away all of the non singers.
So why should I have to wait 3 days for me, to get his money? Huh, huh, ain't gonna happen.

I'm not judging you on not reporting a cash gig. I'm sure plenty of us have done it.
I'm just concerned about 45, 000 a year for 10+ years. How do yo hide that amount of money. You can't pay for everything in life with cash. You have to deposit a certain amout of money to pay for everyday living. Mortgage, utilities, car pmts, etc... If you get paid cash at all your gigs like you stated you must have a day job you are paying taxes on or you wouldn't even have to pay taxes. Again I'm just curious, not judging.

Bab's, with no 1099, assuming he hasn't gotten their attention yet, why would they hone in on him ? There's no red flag. That would require someone reports it first wouldn't it ? If burdon of proof is somehow placed on him, it could get tougher given the sum of money... But as he stated, you don't divulge too much in here such as place of work, actual name, SS number, exact location, and the evidence becomes
"I heard it in an internet chatroom"
There's no evidence of anything
