For the last couple of months I have had a problem which I havnt had in years. Motor boating is an oscillation which causes a few pops per second and usually requires a low audio input (bass) as a catylist. When running full Fx I get it at a low volume (it takes a trained ear to hear it ) and it only reverberates one or two pops sometimes into silence. The average listener does not detect it but it is driving me nuts. At unity level going into a Micro verb4 or slightly lower it starts Not all the time just something that Fx sometimes causes...I am trying to remember what causes this and thje only thing that comes to mind is a leaky coupling capacitor between amplifier stages which allows a quasi dc component to cause a low frequency oscillation..
This is with a dfx12 and a microverb4 and usually unity gain into procs does not cause problems...Anybody that has had this problem or solutions is appreciated

No I can actually hear it in the headphones. Most wouldnt hear it under the music level which I could live with. It isnt self-sustaining but going into dead silence after a heavy drum beat there are 2 or 3 trailing pops which is the objectional issue.. I think the last time we had this problem was with a Bogen tuber pa amp. With them it was simply replacing the electrolytic capacitors It is unusual with modern amps. Fx can cause wierd feedback problems but with minor tweaks can be elimiinated. This problem developed with the same gain structure we have used for years in this particular system. And its hard to isolate because any gain reduction in the mixer or verb4 kills it.....

Now that you mention it the problem wasnt really noticed until I put together a newer computer. It occurs when using winamp for a sound engine.. I use sonar3 for a few songs because it has a lot better sound engine and I dont think I'v.e ever noticed it with that We did use the laptop at the all-nighter at the farm a few weeks back and I dont remember hearing it but to be honest at that party it could have been doing all kinds of stuff and we wouldnt have noticed it. Outside one tends to run the effects higher and at a highter volume and youd think it would raelly do it then..
BTW Id never used the laptop for any extended time on the system but that night was the best sound Id ever heard on it or any other system. And my regular system is no slouch it uses a Delta44 sound card.. The new comp is a 3.3g with 800fsb and it sometimes locks up using the old ATI 7000 dual video board. My mode now is using the laptop for a backup but I might use the laptop full time and use the other for backup.... It very well could be a computer issue....

Reason I asked, is that I use a laptop for my shows. Once in a while there is a rthymic "tap" or "Tic" noise that is not noticeable to anyone but me. You don't hear it while the music is going but it is noticeable between songs, "if you listen for it."
I believe it is a noise from the hard drive. The fact that it is steady and consistant make believe that.

Ham radio, We'd get FM'ing. Voltage or power problems usually. Low freq. oscillation from RF

We have now passed into an era where recycling or repair is impossible.. Charge $10 for disposal and force them to buy a new one..When will capitalism and free enterprize take control again and not big money control?
A few years ago if gas was $3/gallon the average american would say I'm not going to work...When is people going to stand up and say NO?
