I don't know about state run because our friends didn't mention that but they did mention that it is a dollar a song.  I thought it was because of the tourist area.  Either way, pay to sing...

Susie :)

Dollar a song is cheap compared to other things in Hawaii. My initial response was based on my cheap nature. It still seems kinda wrong.

I agree on both counts, inexpensive for Hawaii and kinda wrong...

Plenty of good spots there for weddings.

i am going to have to climb a 14' ladder, kappy, i don't have it as bad as you, but i am freaking terrified. i feel like i am going to slide between the stairs in open stairways. here is a weird point...i wasn't as afraid when is was skinnier. i think unconsciously i am afraid if i fall i will hit harder now because of the unwanted ballast.

i think any hopes of singing are going to be dashed. as well as one reason chuck isn't gonig along. i will be working overnights AND days for six days relocating a store. we will move all the cash registers and computers. the store will close one day at one location and open the next morning at the new location. we get to move the tech shop and the commercial sales department early, though. we also get to completely tear down and rebuild a network infrastructure at another location.

i will get to say i have BEEN to hawaii, but i will not be able to claim that i have SEEN hawaii.

Highest I've been on a ladder is about 5-6 feet..  (feet off the ground that is)..  Yet here's the strange thing,  years ago (certainly not off a cliff, HELL no), on a Golf course with a 3 to 1 slope,  I learned a little bit about Hanggliding... Never got further than 8 or 9 feet off the ground but when moving with that, I felt no anxiety...  It's standing still while I feel I'm reeling with adrenaline and going to fly off the edge of a high ledge because the adrenaline's pumping..  or let's say.. something like being stuck suspended in a hot-air balloon basket.. I'd freak...   It has something to do with ledges and sheer drop-offs or being stationary stuck with a fall nearby... Can't explain it..  Open stairwells are absolute Hell... Something like the Capitol, or a spiral iron stairwell climbing a lighthouse 10 stories...  NO THANKS....

i do okay (not good, just okay) if there is a rail or preferably a half-wall between me and gravity. i feel some illusion of safety that way. galss elevators, wall, etc. are real killers because they are invisible.

the 14' ladder is going to be rough because i can probably get to about 10 feet, then i will freeze and not be able to get up OR down for a while. last time i tried a scissor lift and did fine until i started crying hysterically. perhaps i am not well suited to work in a predominantly male field. the hysterical crying marks me as a wussy female.

Some local friends EMT's, cops, fire dept folks tried to cure me of my fear of heights by insisting I get in one of those bucket's on the cranes that go up about 85 feet.  Naturally I did the manly thing and said "What are you, nuts?", and ran like hell.. I'd have no fear of heights if I die from a massive coronary

Was a big dream in my past.  Heard about the previous trip with his ex-  but never got to go anywhere while we were married.  Think it might of saved what could of been a good marriage.  If he asked me now, I would still go.  Guess we are all stupid at some things.   Anyway, how much Karaoke is there?  Does anyone know?    Wonder if the bar owners are any brighter than what they are here!

I will let you know about the karaoke in Hawaii when I find out.

My baby, Texas GiGi is there now. The people are very much on top of their work so she will have plenty of time to see the island.

Our dog, Angel, is missing momma right now. Yesterday morning she saw momma packing and knew that she would be gone for a week. She is very patient with GiGi about the trips for now.

I am home alone but I have my little lap puppy to keep me company, all 65 lbs of her. She thinks she is too big to sit on my lap but she doesn't put up much fuss when I pick her up and set her on my lap. :D

It looks like she did. She is headed for the north shore right now. I hope she gets some pics.

btw,  here's a danger regarding Hawaii that deliberately isn't advertised.  Reason being, it'd seriously impede tourism.. They found out that the Bermuda triangle type phenomenon is an atmospheric condition that set's off air pressure variances similar to Tsunami, and Rogue wave, and rip tide physics, but it's atmospheric, so not visible when it happens,  Hawaii has the same conditiions..

Almost sounds like she's going to the island on "Lost" LOL! They'll have new cool character with a karaoke background!!! Works out perfectly, since they film it there.

i used to be afraid of heights until i started doing stunt work.  now i look over a rail or an edge and go "man that would be cool to do a high fall from here".

but every now and again i get hit with that oh sh&% feeling when i'm up high but then i change my thinking and wonder about falling on purpose.

call me nuts, but high falls are fun (except the backwards ones!!).

This might help if you don' already do this, think of how much turn you would have to do from certain heights and what kind of mat you wish to land on.

That used to help me when I remembered to do it.
