Must be a pay-for-view fight.   Told me last night to take the night off, because some people want to watch the fight.     He just bought a 60" flat screen.   He told me I need a night off, a vacation day.   He knows I haven't been off on a Saturday for a long time.    The bar owners always have my best interest at heart.   GOD love'm.

Thank you, all of my regular karaoke customers.        Your hard earned money will not be welcome in my bar, because of the big fight.    Even though you provide me with a steady weekly income.    I would much rather slap you in the face.     I don't need your regular money on this night, because I want to cater to some of my buds.    If the fight lasts 5 minutes, sure I'll lose a lot of money, but my buds will make up the difference.    I can ignore your regular contribution to my yearly income.    One night of icing is better than 52 nights of steady bread and butter income.    So if you get pi**ed (because I'm a F**KING jerk) and find another place to sing, there will be another fight on pay-per-view, very soon.     The income from semi-annual fights, is so much worth it.   Who needs a regular steady crowd.    I'll just have to clean up after you anyway.     My buds won't make a mess.

He did me a big favor.     Tonight I booked a party for $100/hour for   He wins & I win.    Excuse me, but your 40 IQ is dangling in the breeze.      :dancin:

I moved to this thread.   Remember the 80's DJ?   I gave it 3 weeks.  I was right.   Next week is the last night.   Firday, 8 people were there.   Now he told me was making $500 gross the nights I was there.   He lost $1500 at least and probably took a lose for the last 3 weeks.     LMAO    Gotta love'm.   Was it worth paying me $350 for two nights or not?        Oh the cook told me the DJ told him he usually charges $600 for something like this, but if the cook ever wanted to do a party, the DJ would do it for $350.    Now if he paid the DJ way more than he paid me, who's stupid?   :O     I can't tell anymore.        I'm getting so confused.

The fight was last week.    Found out tonight 10 people in the bar for the fight.    It was over within a half an hour.     People came in and didn't see me, out they went.   I hope he learned something about making money.    If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My guy canceled because he had someone tell him they all wanted to watch the fight on his new 60" high def flat screen TV.  Show off....     WELL..... all 10 of them had a ball.  Until the 15 minute fight ended.    I know they didn't spend what he would have normally made, if I was in there making noise.    LMAO

on a realted subject, the University of Texas games are a big draw at my venue, but we have a rule....i will hold off karaoke until someone decides they want to sing.  sometimes people want to sing right away.  sometimes they wait until halftime.  it really just depends on the game, but i get paid the same whether i start on time or a hour late.  it works well for us and the bar patrons are the ones who decide.  you may try to implement the same scenario.

sounds like the fight is still raging.....no TKO yet

Its always tough because even the best shows over the years eventually went away with a few exceptions. Bar owners probably get an inkling to try something new to bring in more people. That doesn't mean it will work or that it's wrong, just that they want more from their business and in their lives. It's a shame that KJ's are always hanging out on the breeze when it comes to job security.

The clubs in my area had their KJs stay at home on OU v UT game night. I'm guessing that they never paid them for that night.

We tried our usual haunt. It was dead except for the 6 people watching the game. They weren't even close enough to the screen for some of them to see it. It sounded like they were having fun though. We left after one beer.

After calling around for about haf an hour I found that nobody was going to have a show that night until the game ended. I doubt that they really started up after the game but they might have.

We will keep a game on the screen until it's over, but volume down & karaoke starts!
