I just consumed some jello shooters (they finally set sorta.. I think I used too much vodka ) and I am avoiding any big words right now.

I conside myself a very articulate person but I am forever having difficulty getting the word "accompaniment" out of my mouth in a fashion readily understandable. I still say RAD-e-ator instead of radiator--I throwback to my New Jersey upbringing.

Accompaniment I can see having issues with, I kind of say accump-nee-ment...also I think the radiator thing is diff from person to person.. potato-pot-o-to. And yes you are articulate, especially doing your Curly impression

Hey Lisa, when I get too relaxed I slip into my Texas accent. That is the time it is really hard to say your user name, it comes out like "fa-ar-y-net".
The double a is local to this area I think. Some Texans not too far from here say "fa-er-y-net".

It's good that we don't have language police, or is that a rumor?

Up until the age of 24 I had almost insurmountable difficulty saying the word "always". Oddly, the very first words out of my mouth, according to my mother and sister was "six cents" (or maybe I was saying "Sixth Sense"?) Cue: eerie theremin music......

Linoleum! Lot of people I know can't pronounce that.
Have an aunt that can't say rubber band. She will just say bum-gand
Know someone named Hal - when I say it, it sounds like I am saying How.

"Rural" is hard to say. Usually comes out "rrrrrrr-al."
Around the St. Louis area where my in-laws live, it's common to pronounce "mostiaccoli" [sp? It's not in my dictionary], the pasta, as "muskachelly." I never understood that one.
I used to pronounce "Worcestershire" the way I thought it was spelled, like "war-chester-sher." Eventually I figured out I got the syllable pairings wrong. It's "worse-ster-sher." Darn English, leaving us with this language that's so confusing.
My wife says I pronounce words like "for" and "your" as "fer" and "yer."
At least I'm good with "nuclear."

I was once stationed with a guy from Worcester, Mass. It took me a week to understand anything he said, and he did most of the talking.
Not to make fun of the Massachusetts accents, it is just one of the hardest to understand for people from way down here. Welsh accents are even easier to understand to me.

I have tons of Brit friends... you think that the Mass accent is bad, make friends with someone from Manchester. I have a friend from there and he sounds like he is talking with marbles in his mouth. I have known others with that accent too....it's pretty much the same. Oh, and get someone from Kent, England drunk and try and understand him. It's easier to understand Martian I assure you LOL

I was attending a scuba diving course way back then. It was supposed to conducted in English, but we didn't expect Australian English to be incomprehensable.

Yup. I had to read it three times before I finally got the real (I think) meaning.
Gilly, any guy who would allow your speech impediment to ruin a romantic moment doesn't deserve to live. Even if you do sound a bit like Elmer Fudd (I think that's cruel) you sure as he|| don't look like him (cruel and stupid seem like enough justification to take extreme measures, to me! Besides, there seems to be a whole lot more to you than a speech impediment.
