Thanks Jeff.
It seems that I have not been getting enough sleep and that can wreak havoc on some of us.
I was a bit overboard there. I need to talk to my sensei about that one. Sorry about the thing with Michael. I was hoping it would actually help. It seems that I am a bit off today.
If it helps, Jeff, you guys inspired me to start that so I could see how people wanted to handle an actual critique aside from the encouragement we get in the Singer's Showcase. I love the encouragement a lot. I might sub stuff in the future and wanted to know how people would handle being honest with me.
It turms out that I didn't search well enough either to see if it had been done before. Turns out it had been done to death. I'll search more carefully in the future.
I am glad to see that you and Michael worked things out. Thanks for the friendly mention here too.
Chuck

Chuck,
As you know by now I always have an opinion and it is seldom humble. Here's my opinion about you; you and I started on KS about the same time. I have enjoyed your comments about everything. I like your sense of humor and whether you are just being silly or you are being serious I like to read what's on your mind. I don't always understand it, but I enjoy it.
The only negative thing I can say about you is that I get the impression that you often sell yourself short. Yes, you've got some issues! Wow, what a news flash. Which of us doesn't have issues?
So, don't go anywhere. Based on responses I've seen to your posts I'm guessing that I'm not the only one who likes having you here. Plus, if your wife is willing to put up with you, why can't we?
Please . . . keep on posting.
Larry

Larry Thanks Larry. One of my biggest issues is that I don't know how well I do anything. I'm sure there are some things I do better than others, but the people that know me will give me a lot of encouragement but almost never tell me what I need to work on or even give up on.
OK, done being serious now.

Chuck,
I think self-awareness is one of the most difficult things there is. I guess like any other skill some people are better at it than others. I've always tried to be brutally honest with myself because I know that I cannot rely on others, particularly friends and family, to tell me about things that need improvement.
The exception was my ex-wife, when the list got too long to be manageable, we divorced.
I am always striving. There are things I really wish I could do but I know I can't. That sometimes drives me crazy. When my partner and I are choosing material for our duo there are tons of songs I would love to do but I know that I can't carry them off. I'm smart enough to know for example that I can't do Frank Sinatra or Elvis. I might wish that I had that high falsetto that Frankie Valley has but it ain't gonna happen. So we choose stuff that I can do without being embarassed to myself or my partner.
If you really try hard to think about it I'll bet that you have insights about your abilities, even if you aren't willing to confront them. But you also have to cull the doubts from the real stuff. Self-confidence is a funny thing. It can be so fragile.
But hang in there. You'll get it. Hidden in the joking and wise guy comments you make on this board, I read thoughtful and intelligent commentary. I suspect there is a pretty substantial person hiding down in there somewhere. I hope when he comes out that Texas GiGi likes him as much as she likes the current version.

Larry She says that she sees it too. It must be stuck to my back.
Truthfully, once I can start getting better sleep I will be myself again. I am actually a decent person and fun to hangout with. I have my opinions, lots of them, but I much better at expressing myself than I have been lately.
I am really sick of doing the poor me thing. I never realize I'm doing it until it's too late.

Chuck,
You've never come across as anything but decent and fun. And maybe a guy who is trying so hard to find himself that he may not recognize it when it happens.
Relax a little. I think the new photo helps.

I tried looking for myself in California. I wasn't there either time.
EDIT: I found myself. It turns out that my Spider-Man calender is still on June. I flipped it over to July and their I was.
Gilly, do I really have to eat the pictures of you? I don't think they'll go down too well.

Chuck,
I don't think it's possible to find oneself in California. At least that's my opinion. So I understand your failure to find yourself there.
I don't know what to say about the Spider Man calendar. I think you may have a serious problem there. I was going to suggest that you write a note on the calendar reminding you to flip it but I guess that won't work, otherwise you might have flipped it sooner anyway. Maybe a calendar of Gilly's photos would work. It would give you motivation to flip to the next month. International copyright laws, Gilly's husband and Texas GiGi might put something of a crimp in that plan so you may have to come up with something else. I think it's a great plan though!

Hmmmmmm . . . [mulling it over and deciding that simply ignoring that post would probably be the best idea] . . .
I'm not ignoring you, Gilly, just that post. I still have all my fingers and toes, all of my teeth and the majority of my hair. I'd like to keep it that way for the time being, thanks.

I honestly think when it comes to going off topic, Chuck is certainly not the only one who fingers should be pointed at (myself included) I dunno, sometimes it can be fun to wander off topic, that's what makes it so tempting. Also, once it HAS wandered off and someone interjects something on topic, it basically gets ignored . Staying on topic can be tricky, so it's good to have some goofy threads too like the "that's me!" one...although people seemed to have a serious issue with keeping that one going too...

I'm no expert but i have been involved in numerous flame wars over many years on many sites.
The first rule : Keep it clean. No profanity that the webmaster will boot you for.
Wit may let you win the war.
If you are the flamer just reconsider answering a topic that you think is lame, Look, read, And move on.
Everything in between those brackets would depend on your mental ability, the depth of the insult, and retort, And the webmasters patience. Best of luck.

In the immortal words of Inspector Clouseau, "Not any more." I was married once. I think it was more allergic to the lady I was married to than I was to marriage.
Gilly, however, is married.

Something to think about when you believe somebody is "Trying to flame you"...
It's just typed bullxit appearing on a screen from someone pretty immature who's more remote, and anonymous to you than the person driving by on the road that "flip's you off"... It's just "fonts", if it were in a car, and a person was "flipping you the bird", this wouldn't be much different.. Except realistically, you are more vulnerable in your car... , and assuming it's "A flame", it's not allowed. Report it, wait.. It'll disappear. You aren't allowed in this type of forum to "treat surliness with surliness", I got kicked out've sites for "responding to flames"... If a person tries to flame you in such a venue, it's quite cowardly...like picking a fight with a kid when the parents are right there, just small dogs trying to bark loud...

i think everyone just needs to have some ice cream.
i'm not sure what flaming is, but if it's like someone telling you you are not that great (this is toned down) and they are on this site or any site like this, and, if you don't personally know them, you shouldn't get your burrs in a cockle (?).
like someone so eloquently put it earlier in this thread, it's just fonts.
the only opinions about you that should matter is your own.
