Steven Kaplan @ Thu Jun 15, 2006 1:26 pm wrote: Quote: I'm looking for an engineer who can create a 60 watt, tube powered guitar amplifier with two 12" speakers, with killer sound. This whole package must weigh no more than 5 lb. and the dimensions should be no bigger than 12" high X 18" wide X 4" deep.
As soon as that's ready I'll be looking for something similar in a PA system. Larry, Wouldn't it be nice to cut down the weight and size of Guitar Combo's and Bass combo's that significantly. Bose already has something close to your PA. If you increase your cab dimensions by about 175% You'll have something close to a Fender Pro or Twin. As to the weight, well, you'd need to increase that by 15X. :( (that's what becomes a problem for those of us on the other side of 50).. Speaking of "big being In", Did you know that last year Hammond re-issued the actual B-3 for it's 30th year anniversary of being out of production ? After 1975 they stopped making the "B", and the "M" Series large wooden cab organs.... Last year they reissued the identicle (cosmetic) organ, to the original specs, only thing is, it's now solid-state technology. I'd love to hear one live anyway, reason being, the great sound of the Hammonds' was proper Leslie placement within the room you are working. Digital has also created fabulour Tonewheel organ sounds... Since the Leslie used Doeppler shift principle, it also used the room it was placed in as a cab (of sorts) and more than not, players couldn't optimize it's great sound, learning leslie placement principles is tough, and not often convenient ! Digital Synth technology found a way to transcend the difficult task of Leslie placement, I know Korg Synths have a spectacular digital Hammond sound, which IMO sounds nicer than my B-3 (which doesn't have great speaker placement in my home) Digital technology did do an amazing job of Tonewheel organ replicating, and used the joy stick type device on the synth as a feature to control leslie rotating speed, intensity, fade, etc..... Doubt many music stores will wish to carry, and sit on these 300+ lb reissued items.. I still doubt much will really match up to the sound of a properly conditioned B-3 with two Leslie 122 cabs. Even my 770 cabs (which are hybrid, I believe the 122' s were more of the tube leslies) don't sound that great... Unless the B-3 is really set properly, and kept in tip-top shape, digital technology actually did a great job of recreating the sound (in THIS particular case that is).. String ensembles too ~ Hey Larry, Speaking of clever inventors, did you see my post about Mike Matthews ? Remember Electro-Harmonix, Big Muff, and alot of the guitar stomp devices from the older days ? Mike Matthews is running into probs in Russia as a leading manufacturer or tubes.... He bought Sovtek when they ran into probs after the tube era, (bailed them out) He made Sovtek big again with HIS marketing ability (I beleve), and now the Russians want it  They are making him offer's that aren't best to refuse :(
Kap,
I'm sorry I didn't reply to this. For some reason I missed going back to this thread.
Being on the "other side of 50" is why I made the suggestion. I'm tired of carrying all of that stuff around. But I need it to get the sound I want. Oh well.
I didn't see the post about Mike Matthews. I'm not surprised about the difficulty he's having with Sovtek. It seems that countries that have never been exposed to our kind of freedoms and democracy just can't help repeating the dumb stuff of the past. One can only hope that in time they'll get it.
Larry

Quote: Can someone send me a link to this item you are talking about. I'll bet that it doesn't do everything I planned on putting on it. Quote: Yeah Charmin, is this invention marketed anyplace we can reference on the internet ? If it already exists, the patent is a public record, didn't I list patent sites in here at somepoint, or just references ??
Okay, lemme go look and see if I saved the email with the link, haha.... Keith is the one who found it for me. (back in the days he was still talking to me) Now I don't suppose he'd give me the link again if I asked for it. He wont even return my emails or PM's. Steven, you talking to him still? I'm sure ya are..... I've tried whining and everything else, he just wont answer me.... though I know he read them. So, if you are talking to him, chew his ear out a bit. (for me)
Keith if you read this.... YOU'RE BEING A STUBBORN A$$.... And my mom just got a horse I wanted to show ya pics of, I'm going up to ride him this weekend.... but you're gonna miss out on the pics. (...is it working?)
Anyhow, off to find that thingee majigee that I "re invented" for you all.
I'll be back.

Okay, here ya go:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSH ... Dept=audio
It pretty much has all the features that I, and some others, thought we were "inventing", lll.
What ticks me off, is that this thing was JUST presented by Sony, and is not even available until late summer. Talk about just barely missing the mark, haha.
Oh, well. I'm in the process of inventing that remote control that controls men... (what they say, what they do, what they eat, what runs through their minds... all that good stuff) I've heard it talked about & nobody has made one yet..... But I'm a bit more determined than other people. I'm gonna invent it or die trying. :D

That product that you linked to is still all wrong. You have to actually hold it up.
My design does use LCD display but it's something you wear while laying in bed. It has a remote that you don't need to look at that just lays under your hand while reading.
Well, I'm sure I said too much already. I am not motivated enough to build one so anyone who wants it can help themselves.

Yeah, there are a few things I woulda done different. And Steven had some great ideas too.
But now...... You'd just be improving on someone else's invention. And that's no fun. I'm gonna buy one when they come out. Though, knowing me- and as much as I like to read- I'm sure I'll still want to curl up with a good book sometimes.

I have an idea for a study, it's not an invention so it might not belong here.
I should check my blood pressure after reading certain posts and see how quickly it rises while reading.

I am currently playing with one. Hell, i am ALWAYS playing with one. It is my security blanket. I wear it on my wrist like a bracelet too:) (a REAL one, the nice metal one)...
ok, sorry, back to your regularly scheduled programming:)

Systematic desensitization... You can either do it behaviourally, or go the Rx route
Speaking of good old toy's, I loved those nice solid metal little gyroscopes... Everything is plastic today... I need to hit the "Viewmaster" site, see if they still actually sell the bakelite viewmasters. I believe they might..

Steven, my daugher loves em too:) Check out http://www.gyroscope.com/ :)
And viewmaster? I still have mine from when I was a kid, and sky has a "modern" one:) We keep it in the car, with a million little disc thingys. Some kids get movies for long drives... she gets the window, and a viewmaster, and a couple crayons with scrap paper:) (I have an etch-a-sketch, next to the passenger seat for ME:)

That's an amazingly nice gyroscope site ! Thanks Gilly !
I should check with my district to see if "Do it yourself" Tornado starting compressor heads are legal. Great toy for the guy with too much time, and a control fixation ! That's what I need, A means to unleash the impotent rage contained within.
http://www.gyroscope.com/catalog.asp?catalog=1021
This is probably one of those things like Jart's, they can't stop you from buying them, or air rifles, they are legal as long as you don't take them outside ! Especially in the mid-west  Some districts probably have certain laws, where it's fine to create a Tornado as long is it doesn't excede F1 and doesn't touch ground for more than 5 seconds in a rural area. I guess you need to know your county laws on Manmade storms !
On man, am I getting some great ideas.... Stand in a man-hole with this thing shooting up at a very very sandy road location, be the neighborhood clown that freaks out some lady who's getting back from the hair dresser, and thinks the dust devil is a tornado
