ISO a DBX 1046 Four Channel Compressor, for a reasonable price. The $500 they want for a new one is a bit to rich for my blood. Unfortunately, the one I had burned to death, in a fire. Thanks.

Smoothedge69 will you ever change your mind and finally go digital?

I walked the analog world buying up a bunch of gear (Good stuff) including the DBX 1046 quad channel compressors, Dbx 166 Comps, Yamaha Reverb units, Klark Teknik EQ's, Crest audio amplifiers, Roland digital delays, Soundcraft Delta series consoles, etc. etc.

I just wanted to share my experiences with the world and let you know that you can save thousands of your hard earned dollars by simply introducing yourself to the digital world of technology.

Now-a-days you can buy a digital mixer with a Compressor/Limiter built in every channel, 20hz-20khz EQ included, Revs, delays, etc. included.

Note: For the cost of all the insert cables and patch cords alone you can buy a digital mixer and have it all.

Which digital mixer do you recommend?

I see these mixers price in the THOUSANDS. I don't have that kind of money. They there are the ones that are just the jacks, and you run them off a tablet. Well, not I would need to buy the "board" and a decent tablet. Then, there is a massive learning curve. Maybe one day. I LIKE working with an analog board. I like to be in control of everything, and I don't want to have to sell my first born.

The Zoom Livetrack L-12 Digital mixer is the closest thing to an analog mixer that you can get. But yeah it was the learning curve and time constraint that stopped me from getting one of those jacks only mixers. Already have the tablet. Maybe one day.

I like the analogs over digital as well for karaoke since I adjust each singer, don't want to have to go through a menu to adjust the eq and effects every time, just grab the knobs and turn! Digital has it's place but not in a situation where you are adjusting every song IMO!

I totally agree with you. I hate using menus. Give me knobs and dials! Doesn't Presonus make a digital mixer that uses real sliders and knobs?

I just bought the new Bose T4S digital mixer that gives me 6 channels and all the FX and processing I need for a Professional show. was only $750 bucks.

You can get the Soundcraft digital mixers for as little as $299 (The same price you will pay for a 4 channel DBX comp).

Not sure why you would want routing options unless you have live band shows, but there is routing options available in many digital mixers.

Presonus makes some very nice mixer products. The digital mixers are around $1200

Even if you invest $3000 in a digital mixer you're still saving hundreds of dollars from having to buy analog gear to get the setup you're looking to achieve.

My analog rig I had 30 years ago cost me $16k and took forever to get my return on investment back. My new Bose digital rig cost me just under $4000 and will pay itself off very quick in the karaoke market.

Here is the way I look at it. I have everything I need. It's all in one box. It's all hooked up. I just have to plug in the speakers, the computer, and the TVs. I have all the knobs and faders that I enjoy. I can play with the effects, as I need them, without looking through a menu. As a a matter of fact, once I know my board, I don't even have to look at it to change something.

I am not one that sets my effects, and then leaves them like that. I am actively playing with the effects, during the song that is being sung, at the time. I'm like a wizard, behind my board.

And besides, I already purchased a new board. Why am I going to purchase another one?? All I NEED, now, is a 1046. Ok, I have a 266XS, and an Alesis 3632, right now.

But It is a Behringer. Not sure if it would do the job as well as a DBX 1046. Any input on the Berhy would be cool.

The multicom sucks, that was my 1st 4 channel. Wait til you can get the dbx, the other 2 will hold you over, put the dbx 266 on the main mics and the Alesis on the backups.

Actually, I put the DBX on my mic, and the cordless. The cordless is a Peavey 16. Great mic, but it NEEDS to be tamed. The 266 will do a better job on it than the Alesis.
