I understand Chartbusters is no longer available and Pep took over... My question is? Are the Chartbuster Essential 450 Vol. 1-10 - MP3G SD Cards legit? http://www.acekaraoke.com/scbes4pkesd.html#.Vlo6AIRlmL8I know the complete set says almost 3000.00 but I can Buy them for $70.00 per volume from eBay seller. (That's about 16 cents per song) Quote:
They are relatively expensive. You can see them at ACE karaoke online. They are selling for 299.00 per vol. OUCH. so that is 3000 almost for the set. BUT they are the highest quality available. We have several sets and can sell them at our cost about 65 to 70 per set I need to check. I bought them and was going to list them but we would lose money at auction on eBay. If you google Chartbuster SDHC you will find many people selling them all around 250 to 300 per vol. The SDHC we developed for the professional Karaoke Jocks and commercial people. The Super CDG sets are much lower quality (128 bit rate mp3) and you loose even more if you convert the Super CDG to Mp3+g
The disc sets , that we have , Volumes 7,8,9 and ten , are full CD audio discs. CDG.

It would be impossible to say without having someone who is familiar with the original product (i.e., an ex-Chartbuster employee) examine them to see. Chartbuster did release these products originally, but they could be counterfeit.
To me, the key question is, if this product really is worth $300 per set (meaning that they could be sold for that, or something close to it), why would they sell them at cost? There are legitimate reasons for doing so, and less legitimate reasons for doing so.

Any communication outside of EBay is a violation of the terms of Ebay.

I caught the sellers name before you deleted it and if it's who I think it is then I believe you should be OK. They are a B&M/ebay retailer in S. Ca that I've done business with before and unless things have changed drastically in the last couple of years, they were always on the up and up. They were probably able to pick them up when Chartbuster was dumping inventory for pennies on the dollar. If they've got them that cheap I'll have to give them a call as I still need Essentials 8 and 10 to complete my set. Would rather have the discs but at that price I'd settle for the SD cards.
And Danny quit being such a negative putz... since the seller stated that they were NOT listing them on ebay and since there was no solicitation to buy, there was no violation of ebay terms of service. AND she never stated that the discussion was through ebay channels, just that the seller was also an ebay seller. I've originally found sellers through ebay and have since talked and bought from them directly and saved money in the process.

If I remember correctly Chartbuster's SD cards are already MP3G. I can't remember if they are zipped or not. Man, I am still learning these posting buttons.

The ones I bought from CB are 256kbps. In fact when I enquired as to the bitrate when negotiating the purchase, the salesman gave me the "If 256 is good enough for Steve Jobs, then it's good enough for us," spiel.

As I was going through audits some years ago with Chartbuster Karaoke to get my certification I sent back quiet a few Chartbuster scdg Essentials libraries that I have in back stock to get verified. I was told any Chartbuster scdg's sold after 2008 (I had to provide receipts of distributors I purchased from verifying purchase dates before 2008) were illegal and anything before was legit. I don't know if this still holds true with all the Chartbuster shakeup but I'm sure I'll find out more with the PEPROCKS new certification program.

Food For Thought: Wouldn't the determination of legitimacy of a product made by a different company entirely be HERESAY???

We will not be verifying the legitimacy of CB product through the registration process.

RE: SD Cards, Super CDG Vol 1-6 CAVS FORMAT , RSQ NEO+G All CB were made by Mr. Stovall and I even asked them why I was getting some of my Chartbusters with labels and burnt cd's. They started doing everything "in-house" to cut down on cost of glass mastering. They went from jewel cases to cardboard sleeves down to white paper sleeves in the last process of their releases. (There was even the topic of flash drives but I am unsure if they ever got that far.)
I did have conversations before they went under with Debbie and also Norbert as I was concerned. They did try different types of bit rates and some were standard CBR while other were 192, 256 and 320CBR. Depending on the product and amount of songs would depend on some of the bitrate changes to fit more product on 1 disc. They had their 1000 song hit collection also.
Chartbuster did make some Super CDG discs in house just as Larry from THM did as they were not making as much money selling through CAVS Corp. They did CD+G Disc, MP3+CDG Discs, SD Cards, Super CDG and NEO+G.
I am sorry to reply on such a late feed.
