After pretty much giving all my discs to a KJ friend of mine a couple of years ago, I just found out one of my resort pool gigs wants 1 hour of Karaoke on Saturdays and 2 hours on Tuesday.

Although they're not the greatest set you could have, I was able to get 500 tracks from Party Tyme for $242.00 including shipping. I got several of their variety packs with a mixture of oldies, pop, rock and country.

They're fine for what I want to use them for but it seems somebody just starting out could legally get a decent starter package like this.

Added bonus is that you would get to rip them at hq audio which would be an advantage over pirated stuff,

...I agree

...Have purchased most of what they've produced over the years with the exception of the Christian and Christmas tracks (already had those in other brands).

...Some may have different opinions (swipe issues, slow releases, etc.) but I've never noticed any problems with swipes. Although they might be a little slow on newer releases, what they have typically put out are popular in mainstream hits.

...Years ago, my first purchase was one of the Billboard Packs. After reviewing that set I purchased the rest along with many of the Box/Pack Sets. Probably have 95% of their catalog. Just have to be careful, if you want to try and avoid purchasing dup tracks because they offer single cdgs but also offer Packs and Box Sets. I ended up with a couple of dup discs because I wasn't paying attention.

...Overall, IMHO, I find them to be much better than average!

They can't authorize ripping, because of licensing issues, BUT they don't sue people over it the way another American company does, so you should be safe.

he meant that pirated stuff usually tops out at 192k and buying these fairly good quality sets for nothing lets you rip them at 320k. it's easier to buy it than steal a good copy of it.
