Sound Choice has filed against two bars and two other KJs in my market (Myrtle Beach, SC). Two of the bars are where I do trivia shows. I have no idea if they had illegal files for karaoke because a) I don't care, and b) it's none of my business as trivia host. I have heard that one of the KJs who was named has offered to sell hard drives to bars and keep them updated for a monthly fee, although I have no firsthand knowledge.

So good that the activity has taken place I guess but they missed about 40 more shows, 2 or 3 less than a mile away from the places that were named. Not sure if they haven't filed everything yet, but I don't know how you can come to a resort area like this that has probably 100 shows a week in various locations and only come away with 4 with maybe 3 or 4 that are "legal" according to their definition.

I'm aware that there are numerous karaoke shows in the Myrtle Beach area, especially during summer.

I believe our attorney for that area is based in Charleston. I know we've done quite a bit of enforcement work in that area. They are adding areas as they are able.

One of my customers is in SC and he cared enough to buy legitimate music product from the manufacturer. So I am happy to hear that he may finally get some relief up against the pirates.

By the way. Someone is on ebay right now selling 300+ disc stating they upgraded to a computer. The way I read it makes me wonder if they copied all their disc to the computer and then think they can sell their disc. Crazy thing is they want $4000 for the disc. Of course this is simply an assumption based on what I read. For all I know, he did not load any of those disc. Hmmmm

Based on what we've discussed (for the past few years) on this matter, I'm curious as to what kind of relief you think your friend might get.

I know the listing you are referring to. This is the second time they have listed it. It will never sell at that price EXCEPT to someone who is uninformed.

I msg'd back and forth with the person that made the listing and told them to check what they have against eBay prices. They might be able to get $300-$400 for the discs they have.
