Post subject:  Question about buying some CDG's

I have a very serious question before buying some CDG's from 2 very popular sellers. I was offered a good deal on the Pop Hits Monthly (Stellar Records) 2013 backwards. I was also considering buying some Chartbusters.

I was told that the original manus stopped pressing the discs and did them in-house to save on mastering per cd. I talked with Stellar Records and Chartbuster back a long time ago when I noticed that some of my discs did not have the barcodes in the inner area of the CD which is proof of press. They explained that it was cheaper to manufactuer their products this way and their discs were in face "legal and safe to buy". They also said SC had done the same thing with some of their later product line.

My question is this, has anyone purchased CB or Stellar Records or any other brand and noticed their CD looked burnt? I know several who bought from those companies directly and a few new companies out there and they were told that they were safe to use them.

I would rather be safe than sorry. I need to backdate my catalogs, but wonder if it is worth it.

Every disc I own for my system is an original pressed disc with the ID# on the underside of the inner ring on the CD. I need to backdate quite a bit of music, but also need to update new music also. I do know about the sites that you can pay for custom discs which are burnt or you can download them as MP3+G or MP4. I take pride in owning my original pressed discs that I paid through the nose for years ago. I also take pride in letting the singers at my show know that I do NOT support piracy.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I have several direct from phm that were burned instead of pressed. Same with SC later product.

I appreciate you letting me know. I just want to make sure that what I get is ok to put into my system. I do plan on doing HD based shows so my originals are in excellent shape. With todays market, it is hard to tell what is what.

The companies I am buying from have been in business since the 90's and have always been honest and loyal to me. I just wanted to be safe and not sorry.

most manus started burning as oposed to pressing to help with costs, those are just fine.
if you go HD, don't forget to pay SC to do so. every other manu on the planet is fine.

Or run like I do, put ALL your other stuff on HD, and run your SC on disc!! I bought my SC discs all nice and legit. I will NOT pay extra to have them audited. My discs were expensive enough.

lol, you only have the 10 or so discs. Not worth it to audit, running them like you do is fine. For those that have a good lot of SC discs is worth it to have them audited.
