I just bought my first DTE track. Blue Oyster Cult, Burnin' For you. I am doing nothing but fire and burn songs Saturday night in honor of my ex patron firebug. Looking at ICroons, only two people made this song. I haven't checked All Star so they may have a version. Anyway, one was RC6905-12 and the other was SC10040-04. Of course most of the DTE selections say DTE so you can't really tell what they really are. But while playing this thing, it sure looks and sounds like a Sound Choice track. Did DTE and Sound Choice come to some sort of agreement? |

That wouldn't surprise me since Jim already floated the idea of SC downloads. The next step might well be SC being put on Cloud in order to make a few more dollars. It would seem since it doesn't look like SC will be getting back to production of new material, they have to create some cash flow in order to pay probably for their legal costs. Even though Jim is just working for overhead costs. |

Investigating a tad further, they have Tayler Swift's "Mean" in the free section. When played it, looks like a SC track but I can't find Mean listed on Icrooms as a SC track (which makes sense). So is DTE using the same graphics program and style that SC used? |

They need to be careful even if the SC TM is not displayed there was some mention as I recall that the display of graphics for SC has a certain look, just like CB has the blue field with gold letters. Then some CB as I remember had a black field with gold letters. Most hosts that are familiar with the appearance of of certain manus can tell the difference between a DK and say a Monster hits without seeing the TM. They need to get permission from SC if they are using their product, don't they? If no permission the run they risk of being sued right, Jim? |

There is no SC content on Digitrax. If the track you are referring to is the same one that's on VEVO, it appears to use the same graphics style as CB used to use. Also, there are more versions of "Burning for You" than the two listed on iCroons, but I can't find one in the CB catalog. It may be a new recording. |

Thanks.. It may be new. The music sounds a lot like how SC would do it but the background singers are not. I thought I already had this track until I started looking for it. Obviously I had not looked for it before. But I swear the screens look very close to SC's style except the text is yellow. Can some others go over there and play a few tracks from the free area? Maybe I'm just goofy today. |

The DTE graphics do look similar to SCs so you aren't going crazy on that point, anyway. |

Burning For You was also on Spotlight 8725. Good disc actually. Most of it gets used in our show anyway. |

Thanks! I do not want to discount any other versions or discs it was on (for anyone that may look for it). I was just going by what ICrooms listed. Searches at Sunfly, KV and Zoom came up empty. |

I believe Blue Oyster Cult is one of the original 'no fly' bands. Only 3 of their songs were ever made by any manu. |

Could be! But I can only think of four. How many Karaoke worthy songs did they have after the big three? |

I don't think SC made anything by Taylor Swift, I believe they were outta business before she came along. |

Why would anyone bother with manufacturer remakes of Taylor Swift anyway, her stuff is one of the only ones that are actually available on karaoke (entire albums) in the original music!

Yes, I was using Taylor Swift to prove it wasn't really SC stuff. It was just part of the process I went through to figure out what was going on as I was clueless that DTE tracks looked so close to SC tracks. |

Would love to find a list of artists - if there are any - other than Taylor Swift who put out their original tracks. I know Disney does, but I mean big name, like the old Motown label ( someone told me that Singing Machine made those discs for the artists, but I find that very hard to believe.) |

The Frozen disc I got was suppose to be the original. But, yes, I would love to see that list as well. |

I really don't think there are enough to count on one hand that put out their own tracks as karaoke versions. Taylor Swift is the only major artist I know of that does through her record label - now whether it's the label doing it or she's doing it - don't know, but it is all the original music, full complete albums released by the same record company that releases her regular music. Disney is all original. But even the Original Footage karaoke discs (laserdiscs) back in the early/mid 90's had the original videos and original music for multiplex, however when you switched from analog (multiplex) to digital (instrumental), the music was very obviously re-recorded, some not very well. Now back in 93-94, I ran a show that someone brought in a Stevie Nicks regular audio cd. She asked me what 'cd-g' meant. Then proceeded to show me the inside ring of the disc and sure enough it was stamped with cdg. It was only one or two songs I believe. But the words came up on the screen - not in a scrolling pattern but just the words like a printed lyric sheet. Now I cannot for the life of me remember which album it was, nor the song(s). And I have never seen that on any other regular audio cd since. |

It was the Singing Machine that made the 18 Original Motown CDGs. Someone who used to work with me (about 8 or 9 years ago) at Merrill Lynch, was involved in the collaboration and making of those discs, and he gave me the first 8 for free (because he knew I was into Karaoke, and also wanted to get my feedback/opinion on what I thought of those discs as they were continuing to make more). I believe Pocket Songs had bought out that label, or they just made them available in their website (when they were still selling CDGs).
