For the past couple of years, my brothers and I set up a Karafun player and sang a song for our mother who was turning 98 at the time. We karaoke'd the song It's a Wonderful Life, using the original words, but added another verse, replaying the song, using our own lyrics to fit the occasion. We had her party in her Assisted Living home, just the other 'inmates' and her family. It worked like a charm, and we were 'ordered' to repeat the performance the next year at 99. Well, at 100, we are being threatened that if we DON'T do it again, she'd disown us all. (Not bad for 100.) That comes up in late Oct. Seems as though Karafun has either been sold or completely revamped their system so we cannot use the Karafun Studio to change lyrics in the KFN files. Their studio was relatively easy to use and actually worked pretty well. I still have the demo software, and would certainly consider moving to any other formats, but need the availability of changing lyrics to fit the situation. I don't 'think' that there is an issue of legality, since it is a captive audience of family and her neighbors who live in the same complex who attend the party. Not too many of her old friends are around - that's what happens when you outlive all your friends. Looking for some guidance - legality, etc. and where I could obtain software for the one-last performance (seems likely). Oh, we were looking to do a bit of change of lyrics to 'Sixteen Candles'. Do you realized what a lovely light 100 candles makes? Come to think of it, I think the fire department personnel will be standing by, as well, and they may catch the performance. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Richard |

I'm actually a disc based host, but I sometimes fool around at home with software called Karaoke Master by eMedia Music. I have Karafun in my PC for testing discs as well. Karaoke Master will do everything that you want, plus several other applications. Theonly link on the box is: www.ipemusic.com Just another suggestion. |
