I'm sooooo confused. What is still legal to buy, AND use? I'd like to see a list from each person as to what do YOU think you can "still" buy that is legal to use in your show. Example: How about SGB, legal? MM, legal? CB, legal? AS, legal? SC, legal? Zoom, legal, Sunfly, legal? And so on, and so on....

No one's going to come after you for criminal violations, so in that sense it's all legal.

From a civil standpoint, it's all legal until you're sued, as there is no industry organization such as RIAA that carries an overall banner. And since Sound Choice, PR/Chartbuster, and Stellar/Pop Hits are the only manufacturers on that radar, meaning the set of US-based manufacturers that are going concerns and can sue someone, I consider the rest of them to be "legal".

It really doesn't need to be said, but it's all just my opinion. And IANDL.

Acquiring original media and using it as it was intended is "legal" under any circumstances. Using copies without out having the originals in your possession is theft any way you size it and that is effectively "illegal".

Just acquire original media and know you have done the right thing. As for what you do with the originals after acquisition..... that has been, is being, and will continue to be debated for a long time.

The correct answer is... EVERTHING, as long as it is on original manufacturers' discs.

The liability rests on the manufacturer of that product. The very WORST thing that could possibly happen is if the publishers/owners woke up and got involved, and that would be a cease and desist, nothing else. While I think the chances of this happening are- at this time- slim to none, there is a possibility that what SC has been doing will awaken the sleeping giants. If so, it'll be another thing to thank SC for..

Probably breaking some law no matter what we do. Whether they come after you, depends on if they can make a profit after legal expenses.
Went to buy a tool set at Sears today.....99.99 on sale. Looked close by it, at another set for 499.99......looked exactly the same, tool for tool. After closer examination, I read that the one for 500, contained all the licenses I'd need, if I wanted to work on other people's cars & make some money. Also, in small print, it said there was an annual fee of 200, after the first year. The one on sale was for home use only.....

You just wait, JR. One of these days you will receive a letter from Sears to submit to an audit to make sure you still own the complete set you bought for 99.99. If there’s one or two missing, you will have to buy a new set - :newlol:

"What is still legal to buy????"

It's all still legal to buy (and use with some restrictions).
The problem is that most of it has been and still is illegal to sell.

Wow...if you're married, Timberlea, your wife must be so proud...and if you're not, you must be considered quite a catch.
