Swap meets too.. and "Alley Areas" in New York, L.A., Frisco etc.

I posted last year about 4 cases of Sweet Georgia Brown CDs in a garage in San Pedro.

To my knowledge, they had to be bogus.

The guy was Iranian, and was looking to scam another guy on a car appraisal.. The SGB was just sitting in the garage next to the car..

I should have called ICE.

And people are wondering why there is little action on karaoke harddrives. We are a very small market compared to the big boys and they are having a difficult time with the same thing we are. Most of it offshore.

No, these big corporations are good guys.
You won't see any of them doing naughty.
While you may see the odd counterfeit item on ebay
you can't expect ebay to know it is counterfeit can you.
After all, these big firms have to set an example to us mortals.

Lets look at a slightly larger picture. Look at all the TV stations, newspapers, etc......that carry all the advertisements for things that don't work, are untested, and in many cases, can even cause you serious harm?.....For example, all the weenie-enlagement adds that come in the email, and can even be seen on TV and in the newspapers........I KNOW THEY DON"T WORK........ as a matter of fact, it's gotten even smaller. The government hasn't cared for years, and it seems as long as someone is making money, they look the other way. That's just in our country, which only accounts for a fraction of the global economy. Do you think the Chinese goverment cares about counterfieters? I think it will only get worse.

Sure we are a very small market in comparison of counterfeit goods, but there are domestic sources and the crooks aren't very smart.

I understand the offshore issue, but the HD sellers I see are not only domestic, but can easily be found on craigslist. Contact the seller, make a purchase....instant case!

I think the real problem with going after these guys are the lack of $$$ available to make the pursuit worth their while.

hiteck, I understand that but for every karaoke harddrive on CL, how many counterfeit Rosetta Stones (to use the example in the article) are there or DKNY, Chanel, Sony, MGM, etc, etc, etc, products out there. As I said in another thread, Law Enforcement would have to hire tens of thousands of officers, prosecutors, judges, etc to make a dent in it. That's why these corporations have legal teams to try and sue offenders.

It's a little harder to pick a counterfeit Rosetta Stone, DKNY, Chanel, Sony, MGM, etc, etc, etc, product from an online ad. Preloaded hard drive with 10's of thousands of karaoke tracks not so hard to identify.

That's what I thought.
That was not so much an example as an advert.
There are so many far more obvious examples.
I wonder how they pulled that off?

Johnny... It is all counterfeit.
It will not necessarily work.

The Chinese even managed to fake themselves at the Olympics.

First of all, why would I need any Viagra type thing-a-ma-jigs?.....If it was a pencil, no one around me, would want to read anything I had to write.
And secondly.......what's with the Scittles comming with a one year warranty on batteries......they need batteries?.....no wonder they make kids hyper.... :)

Lol... That's Johnny.

Actually it is not however off topic.
If you do only a little digging on

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200714348018#ht_548wt_949

you will find it leads to a fake memory counterfeiting ring in Singapore.
Hows that for on topic.
