TheWraith

there are quite a few on this forum that are happy to flag CL HD sellers if you just post the links and you might be surprised at how many of these SC already has in radar and is already working on. Wish the FBI was quicker to assist

BTW flagged

I did that for quite some time and the same ones just seem to keep popping back up as others from other states even.

I'm not on CL much anymore as I'm not buying as many disks as I used to (got my eye on the CB HD). So I don't flag as many as I used to.

Wouldn't it make more sense for SC, HL, or one of their investigators to actually make a HD purchase from these guys? Talk about evidence!

Post subject:  Re: Ilegal Hard drives

because this is also a criminal case they get the FBI involved. They have already "popped" a few HD sellers and in those cases I think a purchase was made as evidence but these people have a lot more to worry about than a civil penalty (read jail time). Flagging on CL is a pain as it takes so darned many to remove a listing and they do pop up regularly. Here in FL I have a email list that I send to so around 30 people pop on and flag but I have seen the postings here work very well also. I don't think anyone here likes these cockroaches.

I also flag on Craigslist as a part of my weekly schedule. I like the idea of creating a mailing list for flagging. I will check with my singers this week and some other local KJ's to seeif they will help out. Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately there is not much to do about it. Manus can't sue them, some have been selling close to a decade. They just keep selling, keep popping up week after week, hell, some of them are doing better than we are with income. Which sucks, I hate drive sellers more than pirate kjs

I'm not sure you are correct.

Isn't this someone who was selling loaded hard drives?

That was a case in country. Unfortunately many of these sellers are out of country.

Sound Choice doesn't make any money for stopping hard drive pirates - besides, that's the pipeline for their lawsuits, why would they want to shut that down?

Rickgood see above link and the judgment included in it...HD sellers are smacked with the highest penalties and all sales records must be turned over....I think you missed something

A judgment on paper doesn't translate into real money.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but you anti-SCers are really not going to like what I have to say or what I mean. You will have to read between the lines to grasp my meaning.

I don't know whether it was evident from the order that was posted here--it would have been evident from the remainder of the case file that was not posted--but when we take action against a HD seller, for various reasons, that case has to be sealed. That means that we cannot discuss it or even confirm that a particular case exists, at least in this situation, and you cannot find the case in PACER. The seals on these cases can last for a long time and they often are not lifted until the end of the case. In some situations, they may not be lifted at all.

You should not assume that the lack of publicity about an action means that an action is not being undertaken. I wish I could say more but at this point my hands are tied. I encourage anyone who notes a preloaded HD advertisement to send the link to the address piracy (at) scsafeharbor dot com (of course, format it as a real email address) and also to report the ad to the site where it is posted.

Hard drives are built into CAVS players...

Here's a listing:

CAVS JB199 w/16,000 songs

there... I think I fixed it.
