I have no idea what this means.

I mean, I know where Marco Island is. I assume you're intending to imply that Kurt has a house there, or some such. But he doesn't.

Well, that's what I had heard from some people in the karaoke business in the Naples, Florida area.

Well, if some people in the karaoke business in Naples said it, it must be true.

Hey! Look what I found? Here's an old post from kjflorida from April 9th, 2013:

BruceFan4Life,
Since I have never had a ex-partner or had a competitor with even a similar songbook I know you are not talking about me.

What do you find wrong about anyone reporting thieves ? Ex-partner or not. What is so high and mighty about that ? If it was your house that was robbed would you not want
someone to report the thieves if they were aware ?

If a finger is pointed all that is done is an investigation. The only ones that have to worry about being investigated are those who can not show they are 1-1, also known as thieves.

I hadn't heard that Kurt Slep was moving to Florida, I hope his new place on Marco Island is real nice and that he does keep his eye on the middle district of Florida.

I knew I read it around here somewhere. Here's the link incase you think I made it up.

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=27605&p=358517&hilit=Marco+Island#p358517

I see that you refuted it there as well but kjflorida is a certified SC KJ who works in that area. Maybe she had a personal conversation with Kurt that you weren't privy to? Why would she want to put that information out there? Maybe to try to put some fear into her competition? Typical SC M.O.

I noticed you didn't add the previous post where YOU wrote that Kurt was moving there. All KJFlorida said in response was that he (Kurt) would enjoy it there. He didn't confirm anything about YOUR post stating Kurt moved there. It appears to be all in YOUR head.

Would any of you be surprised if he did live there?? Come on, he's a slimy business man. ALTHOUGH, since he is charging KJs $150 - $500 to audit them, s they can PROVE that they are legit, maybe he CAN'T afford to live on Marco Island, but he will soon!!

8) I don't think Kurt will move there anytime soon smooth, he is too embattled and spread too thin. Just about anything of value has been sold, means of production, SC catalog etc.etc.etc. The only business plan currently is to create the illusion that the legal process is working in order to license the GEM series, "suits drive sales". I'm surprised Jim has stuck with him this long since the amount of the awards have been generally for the fair retail value of SC's product. Jim says he gets $400.00 an hour, I wonder just how many hours he has put in sometimes, seems like he has plenty of time to post here and on other forums? If Kurt is less than a millionaire, then the real question is how much longer can this legal show continue? We are not even talking about the cost of someday resuming production, which we are told will eventually happen, I'm not holding my breath on that one. Have a great day smooth, live your dream.

*IF* Kurt has the means to have a place on Marco Island then GOOD for him. Good for anyone that does! They did something right financially.

I imagine the hosts here are all over the spectrum from a socio-economic perspective. I hope those that have been at this for 20+ years managed to save some money and live a comfortable, if not easy financial life. If not, then maybe I got into the wrong business.

8) I think it is possible to make money running a karaoke service business. The amount you make depends on how you see your business and the amount of time you are willing to devote to it. Most working hosts have a hard time even taking a vacation since if they leave their active gigs for any length of time; there is the chance some other hungry host will work their way in. That they return from vacation with no business. I had no problem making anywhere from 40K to over 50K, while working only 10 months a year. One of the reasons I retired was my long term partner who filled in for two months a year decided to retire as well.

So Chris I think a good KJ host can make a living depending how they manage their money. Will they get rich probably not, will they be comfortable it's possible. Then again in my situation I never quit my day job and did not rely on entertainment alone to support myself. One of the ways you seem to be approaching the business is to increase the scale of your operation, in order to make a greater profit, which is fine if that is what you want to do. You said something about quitting your day job and going entirely the entertainment route as far as personal income. I guess it is working out for you, you never did move to Texas though that was the other goal right?

That link only reinforced that you made it up.

Look...this is really not difficult to ascertain. Florida has the most open "open records" law in the country. Virtually everything you'd want to know is online. Marco Island is in Collier County. They have an online tax records lookup where you can put in any name you'd like and see if a person with that name owns property.

colliertax.com, click on Tax Search, then click "Property Taxes." After you accept the terms, you can search by last name. Easy as can be.

KJFLORIDA said that she hoped he enjoyed his new place on Marco island. Maybe he was just renting?

I guess when a rich person is filing law suits against the less fortunate, he doesn't want to come across as affluent in front of a jury, hence all of the denial.

KJFlorida was responding to YOUR statement, not asserting that your statement was correct.

You're trolling, right? No one could be this thick, or think we are.

Because YOU had made the statement first that you 'heard it from a friend that Kurt was moving'. KJ Florida stated, he hadn't heard about him moving but hoped he enjoyed it. That was a response to your he said she said post.

Since when does being a karaoke pirate make you less fortunate?!!?!?!??!? Are you trying to tell me that every single person that Sound Choice has sued is or was "less fortunate"? You are full of it!!!

I personally know two hosts locally that were sued and settle with SC and neither one of them is "less fortunate". And for the record, both are happy with the way things turned out and are MORE fortunate (financially) than they were before! You are full of it!

Trollololololololololol!!!!!

a person who makes $75,000 a year is still less fortunate than the guy who makes a million dollars a year.

I make quite a bit less than that & feel pretty fortunate! Guess it's all perspective. But even though I don't make anywhere close to $75,000 a year, I have still never felt the need to steal for my business. I'm very fortunate for that.

The local Brick and Mortar Karaoke store in this area was running multiple shows on the same night with copied discs for years. Nobody seemed to care about them at all because they were the only ones in the area with that capability. Funny thing is; they hired a guy to be a KJ for them and he worked in the store on occasion. He would let all of his karaoke friends when he was working at the store and he would give them an incredible 80% discount on whatever they "bought" and he pocketed the 20%. The store went out of business of course but all of his friends would be considered certified by Sound Choice because they have the physical discs in their possession. As long as Sound Choice got paid by the original store owner they don't care about anything else. It's ok to steal from anyone else, just not SC.

We had a store up here doing the same thing in the 90's. He'd go as far as copy the disc then repackage to resell. Yes me and few other local kj's did CARE about it as he was going in trying to take our shows for cheaper, but didn't know who to complain to so we didn't do anything. Luckily he went out of business about a year later in all respects.

So for you to say nobody cares is maybe in your own mind!
