While I don't live in Redmond, I was reading my copy of Redmond Channel Partner magazine this am..

I've semi retired from teaching a few years ago, and now just consult a bit..

As a Beta tester for Windows 95, and forward to Department Chair, Networking and Programming @ Westwood College, it's been fun..

CCAI was fun too.. and checking credentials for other colleges for the state of California..

These days I am on an extended vacation.. when I'm not writing on Unix or Linux..

On a side note, I just picked up a Dell Power Edge 840 dual core Xeon, Dell raid card, dual homed gigabit nics, and dual sata drives for $125.00..

I expect it to be fun too..

@jdmeister - Very nice on the Dell. My wife doesn't allow me to pick up "deals" any longer. :)

Well, my wife says that too..

But, I refurbish them and pass the savings along..

My HP workstations, Core 2 Duo, 4 gig ram, 500 gig Hard Drive, DVD-RW sells new for $2000.00 and I resell then for $300.00

(HP xw4600 @ 3.1 Ghz)

So she puts up with the mess..

Funny.... and all you need for a kiosk is win '98, a cheap wireless netcard, literally no extra ram and a less-than-3gb-hard drive-if-you-can-find-one and an ebay touchscreen monitor....

Everything except the monitor you can find in a dumpster near you.

(or in JDmeister's trash bucket)

Actually, if you were paying attention, I resell them..

And yes, a Xeon server is a bit of overkill for Karaoke..

I use a laptop like most..

You mean you still sell win '98 with a cheap wireless netcard, literally no extra ram and a less-than-3gb-hard drive-if-you-can-find-one and an ebay touchscreen monitor?

You have an empty trash bucket?

Well their "Gem" comes now in 30 track MP3G discs. I've spoke with them at Sound Choice and they're ok with a media shift to "one" show computer (that applies to any original, so I'm told). I can live with that, sure I bought alot of SC cd's in the past from vendors, but I'm also going to get their "Gem 6000". Why, you ask?... 1) I like the idea of being certificated. 2) Theres a (@$%&#!) load of songs I don't have, or of poor quality. 3) To help support Sound Choice as a whole... If you like them or not, they are still the best "quality" in the industry and we need to keep them afloat. Call it a bailout, but I'd like to see SC producing new CD's agian...

Strange how your join date and numbering of statements is so close to ChrisAvis. Makes me think you, Chris and HarringtonLaw could trade inter-office memos!

I think this is more assumption = paranoia.

I think I'll keep my info to myself. Even if I did it would prove nothing. Chris, you however seem to be very concern!

I am not concerned at all. I am just being very open. I was simply giving you every opportunity to solidify your conspiracy theory.

Chris, if it's OK with you, I'd like to take up that offer. I try to reach out to folks on both "sides" of this debate, in hopes of learning what I can about both the subject, and the folks involved... :)

Sure. Like I said, I am accessible. All you have to do is search on "Chris Avis" and anyone can find me. Search on "Chris E. Avis" if you want to get rid the pesky IT guy in Australia, the budding Photographer in London, and the perfectly useless PhD candidate in Canada.

Chris, I don't want to "research" you- I take you at face value. I was only asking if you'd mind a phone call?

Oh, Sure.

If anyone ever wants to call to talk shop, or if you have a question about Microsoft, please feel free.

The other info was just further effort on my part to be transparent.
