Yes... I remember how vocal you used to be about piracy... And that was before the days of karaoke run on a PC had become the popualr thing to do.

Just make sure that your plane comes through Detroit.... and spend a couple days here too...

...wow, talk about salt to the wound..I had the biggest pirate come into my show so he could laugh in my face about hearing that I have been named in this lawsuit !!!
He said that that's how stupid they are.
Hmmm.
I told him that he's getting his but he just laughed and said they will never catch him.....
in fact he then delivered a burnt cdg to someone at my gig that night...talk about rubbing it in....
Now it's not about me......grrrrrrrr

Here lies the problem - he won't get his, he'll get yours. He'll settle quickly with SC once they file suit on him and get a brand new set of high-quality SC Gems (for much less than you paid for those tracks on original CDs) and he'll be your legitimate competition shortly, sporting a "certified" document from SC. Now what?

If you think SC will take the pirates out of the market you are awildnkrazykj! Their business plan is to sell them their product, not put them out of business.

Why if not making CDGs any longer would a company care about stopping piracy? It appears they don't! They are only worried about making $ off their existing product. They appear to continue to let pirates off with the purchase of their GEM series knowing that these same people will also be running illegal copies of other manf. discs. While it would appear attempting to impose a lawsuit against a legal KJ.

So it appears illegal non-customer pirates are allowed to payoff and are made legal while legal paying customers are made illegal and it appears extorted as if they where pirates! APPEARANCES COUNT! KJs would be better off paying an independent bonding company to bond them against these lawsuits with their own certification of all manf. discs. then to pay for what seems are extortion certifications. If true, reminds me of the mob protection rackets!

..Unfortunately it sure seems to be true, at least in my case.
In fact I know for a FACT that they did bust several pirateers here and they settled and in one case they purchased 3 sets of gems and are now running multishows every night, this without EVER buying a single CDG !!!!
One guy is running about 14 shows a week !!
He brags that he won't get caught cause he has a sign saying he doesn't use SC products, yes he may get out this lawsuit although his hard drive was bought from one of the biggest hard drive burners in the area and has EVERY SINGLE SC made still on his multi hard drives !!!
I can't wait til the other manu's get of hold of this guy?
I use original CDG's and will continue to do so....
What I don't understand, How does one get all their music from a CDG to a computer?
I have thousands of CDG's, the time alone would take me well into the next century.....Do they go to the Manu's to get the digital version?....still baffles me....
Oh well.......I can only vouch for me and only me...

Pop Hits Monthly (Stellar) sells their 1998 and later collection as digital. Just drag and drop from the DVD's they send out.

Chartbuster sells an all digital hard drive with 12000+ tracks on it.

Sound Choice has the GEM series. Again, just drag and drop.

How long it takes to rip greatly depends on the quality you rip at. Ripping at 320kbps will take longer than ripping at 128kbps (or even less....yuck).

The thing is, people have been ripping for years and years and practically everything that has ever been produced is available for download through a Torrent or an iRC channel. The moment a new set of discs is released, someone rips them and they are online. Years ago I saw folks online with 300,000 track libraries. I can only imagine what they look like now.

So when did you contact Sound Choice to set up an audit and will you get it done for free? I read on one of these forums that KJ's are charged a fee to do a disc audit.

An audit should clear you from the suit right away even if it's only to prove that you run only CDGs. I'd only do it if it's for free. I'm not a KJ so I'm not sure what the audit deal is.

KJ Pro's database is currently at 410,811 songs. We use 2 five dvd servers so we can rip 10 cdgs at a time (about 450 songs per hour). Alot of us do our own. But it does require originals.

I haven't gotten an audit with sc yet?...I hear that it costs a hundred dollars?..but then again I'm not in the loop of things.....I still feel with all the confusion with multiple kj's at my location previously that they mistaken me for one of them, they never got my name right EVER....Will find out soon I guess?

Someone said when pirateers settle, that they wipe out the drives even of other mfg songs but the ones in my area still runs shows with that same library.....in fact they are now running even more multi gigs thinking they are clear.....doesn't seem right but what is right nowadays, tha.k God my Mom taught me Morals..
