OK, before I comment any further, I'd like Mr. Harrington to step in and offer his take on this whole thing. I seriously doubt this is legal for commercial use.

are you now going to start badgering people who buy Digitrax because they encourage piracy?

youtube available to users of Siglos....bad :(
youtube available to users of Digitrax....ok :biggrinthumb:

Just one more thing... DigiTrax is trying to make money with subscriptions to the cloud, which would grant you a license to use their library for commercial use. Why on earth, would they offer it for FREE on YouTube? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the Cloud, doesn't it.

So, I'm sure those tracks on YouTube are for personal home use only. DigiTrax, can you confirm this?

And yes, we now have DigiTrax contributing to piracy with this brilliant move. Just because these tracks are available for personal use (if they are) , it's not going to stop the dis-honest KJ's from downloading them and using them in their commercial shows. And if it can't be linked to or downloaded, there are many capture programs that will record audio/video of anything on your screen.

So, the funny thing is that, manufacturers complain about how they are losing money to piracy and then do a foolish thing like this to make it real easy to get their stuff into the wrong hands. I don't get it. I just don't get it. I have nothing more to say.

Alan,
...Look, there's many of us here that have fought the good fight (turning in pirating KJ's, online illegally loaded hard drive sellers and so on and so forth). The battles continue but as for the War, it just doesn't look good and probably never really has.

...If you don't think I don't care then you need to go back into the archives and read some of my postings (thoughts on piracy). I have always done my very best to support the industry by purchasing legal content. Actually going all the way back to my first record when I was a child.

...I understand the frustrations by many posters here at KS. Although opinions may vary, I just can't see blaming one particular software company when you take a look around at the field of players (uploaders, downloaders, Karaoke Companies, file sharers torrent sites, etc.). For those of us that have purchased our libraries legally, we're in the minority.

...On top of it, over the last few years, I've seen KJs playing off of discs, hard drives, YouTube (without any player software) and Karafun. All of them in a Commercial Venue setting. You can only educate and make so many phone calls. Does it suck? Of course it does! By the way, I just went down to the basement and fired up the system and had no problem getting on YouTube, looking up a couple of Karaoke Tracks and playing them through my system. And no, I didn't use Siglos to play them. Just my Google Browser. Although I would never use it commercially for a variety of reasons. I just couldn't trust playing tracks from online source.

...In conclusion, currently there's no Karaoke Software Player Program that is going to do an audit of your tracks before allowing them to be played. We can blame the world (other KJs, Torrent Sites, KJ Manufacturers, General Public, etc.) for piracy but in the end, it's the user who has to decides to use or not to use illegal tracks.

Thus my conclusion based on your summary..... we're doomed. Most (but certainly not all) of today's youth thinks that anything they find on the internet is fair game and should be free to use as they feel. Sad but true.

Thus my conclusion, based on your conclusion to MadMusicOne's summery... I agree!

Really not all that different from those that think any cd(g) they buy they can do whatever they want with it too, just a different medium - albeit it free medium.

No that part I get, the thinking they can do whatever they want with it is what I was getting at.

<expletive deleted>, <expletive deleted>, and <expletive deleted>

I liked Siglos software. I have and use older Siglos software.

Now all I can say is <expletive deleted>, <expletive deleted>, and <expletive deleted>
