What are you talking about? Pocket Songs dropped out of the game last year. They are no longer producing Karaoke Tracks. They went back to their original Music Minus One format.

Then which "game" are they staying in? Do you mean, that they're just still in business (even tho Karaoke is no longer a part of their business model)? Is Music Minus One the parent company you are referring to? Pocket Songs was part of Music Minus One. To my knowledge, Music Minus One is no longer marketing or producing Karaoke related works.

My biggest problem with Party Tyme has been the lack of some sort of count in bars. I think the music quality is respectable for most of the tracks - definitely better than some of the other discs in my collection. Addressing that issue would take Party Tyme up a notch in my book.

One of the reasons that SyberSound/Party Tyme has stayed successful- other than actually LICENSING their music, is their focus on the home user. I have found that lots of folks- familiar with the brand as their home practice tracks, have started requesting these versions in my venues.

Speedier output would be appreciated, but other than that they do just fine in my area.

Geez did we scare away another producer?? where did they go?

There is a good reason for that, other than just the quality. There are more useable tracks on Party-Tyme discs than the average 2 or 3 on SC Spotlights. Much more bang for the buck all around.

In earlier posts I explained the work being done to digitally integrate the Pocketsongs library into Party Tyme. During this period, Party Tyme has been busy producing hundreds of new songs including Classic Rock and Metal. You can listen to 30 second previews of the quality here:

As if that is not enough... Party Tyme has purchased the largest Latin catalog produced by Tropical Zone which will increase the size of the new library to over 22,000 songs!

http://www.karaoke.net is the new site currently under development for custom burned discs and downloads. We invite you to add your email address for launch notification on the front page. Our anticipated launch is Nov. 1. The site will function the same as the Customburn site in the UK with a simple user interface, 30 second preview samples, fast shipping for discs, instant downloads and itemized receipts for all purchases.

Song Requests

So much discussion regarding new songs.... Perhaps we can make it a little more simple, democratic and get everyone's engagement? What I would like you to do (Lonnie and other admins) is to start a Karaoke.net Song Requests thread. I will leave it to you guys to compile a monthly list of 8 songs that you let members vote on. How you do it is up to you. Maybe take suggestions until a certain date. Then start narrowing down the list based on popularity. Once you have your 8 songs by the end of the month that everyone is happy with -

1. Email us your requests to sales@karaoke.net
2. We run it past our licensing agents to get approvals - if they can't get it nobody can

We will strike any off the list any that can't be approved of and let you know. Why have your hopes up for something we will never get the rights for?

We will do 4 songs per month which means that the list could grow depending on how the approval process goes and we will assess where we are as we go. The cost of custom discs and downloads will be $1.99 per song + tax, S&H.

These special requested songs will be $4.00 ++

That would be awesome to know what CAN and CANNOT be done - at the time of inquiry.

Will you have optional mp3g, mp4, avi download options? Any kind of bulk rate discount?

Depending on the songs, i'd pay up to $5 per track if it's something I know i'm going to get.

Also do your tracks come as 'clean' versions either changing words or do they show the words or **** them out? That was one thing I liked about many of Chartbuster and all of All Star tracks that had cussing in the original, they'd substitue clean versions.

Thanks for the feedback and registrations on Karaoke.net that have been coming in. To answer a few questions:

1. The downloads will be mp3+g. We are also doing full HD but those versions are only going to be available for the streaming service which I haven't gone into any detail yet

2. The versions will be clean with ***** in keeping with Party Tyme standard practices

3. We will revisit the bulk discount question later once we see how the process flows. For now, I think $4.00 is reasonable for the quality of the production.

It is no coincidence that we are working to round out the catalog with songs that people generally look to other manufacturers for - like Rock and Metal. I realize that you are only getting a 30 sec sample to review in the clip, but if you do a comparison to the best version you think you have of those songs, I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

OOOOO, I am excited!! I love new sources for good Karaoke!! These downloads will be legal for commercial use?? I am not going to waste my money only to find out that I can only use these songs at home. Thanks.

Absolutely... Party Tyme is a US company that does all of it's licensing in the US. I have seen some of your requests in the past and am sure we will end up doing some of yours, but we are starting fresh with the request list and want to give everyone a chance. We are committing to 4 songs per month to coincide with the other new songs slated for production.

We lucked out that one of the studios we use are all Rock and Metal heads So if you listen to the samples in the video, you can get an idea of what they can do...

Since I do not have industry blinders on, I tend to read things as they are written, and default to draw attention when it appears that the answer to a question seeking a black-and-white answer does not seem to meet the burden:

Answering that your company does licensing in the US does not in and of itself answer the inquiry specifically. I have never seen in any discussion on here that ANY manufacturer claims, with a specific standing that backs the claim, that their material is specifically licensed for commercial and/or consumer use. However, if there IS such a differentiation, then you, and others, are not making that line of demarcation very plain. I believe that, from what all I have read on here, it has always been, and still is, a point of dissention (the recent SC/PEP situation seems to come the closest so far to defogging the line a bit)...

My apologies for the lack of clarity. As it has been discussed at length on this forum in other threads, the PRO/Alphabets are paid by the venues for the performance rights of the songs in a commercial venue. Our (Party Tyme) licenses grant us the rights to sell you the content for both personal and commercial use. These two subjects are clearly spelled out as such and we wouldn't bother otherwise.

OK so I tried to go to your site off the facebook page and got a message that says
