So at the very least, if the tracks were licensed for production properly by SunFly and SBI, and I am purchasing from an authorized reseller, then I feel I have done my due diligence. I have been told that, too. Zoom uses them, too. I feel confident that I am doing nothing wrong, and will continue buying from them until they stop selling.

Well you can buy what is allowed for now if you download. Buy custom cdg and you pretty much still have full catalog. I'm sure most of the manus probably have something similar in place. We'll see if that changes or gets restricted to the US soon. Here is a blurb from just SBI. Only difference that will be for me is I won't get the songs immediately, will have to wait a week or two as I always get what I can on disc. http://sbikaraoke.com/site/node/2878Since Tricerasoft has already pulled most (if not all) of these artists/and or writers, says a lot IMO that they don't in fact get extra licensing on top of what the manus purchase/license like has been stated in the past or else they wouldn't be pulling anything. Now so far Karaoke-Version hasn't been affected, but I have a feeling that's only a matter of time.

I had an arrangement with them in the past, where I ordered downloaded files, and they sent me blank discs prelabeled with the tracks I ordered (as if I had ordered a Custom CDG from them), and then I was able to burn the downloaded files to those blank discs.

Is SBI even selling to the US any more? I thought none of the UKs could do that. To get a custom you would have to have someone in the UK buy it and then resell it to you.

They cannot distribute through US retail sources, you can still order directly - At least SBI does and pretty sure Sunfly & Zoom do too. Just bought 4 customs from SBI direct within the last few weeks when I found Selectkaraoke/Tricerasoft pulled all the tracks I was looking for.

Zoom won't ship "physical product" to the US. I don't know about downloads.

They all still sell downloads - just not those on the 'no fly list' - and even those songs you can generally get as an instrumental only via download (at least through SBI). Those no fly artists are sold on disc or custom disc only if you want the graphics now.

I have seveal custom cdg's from SBI and they play fine on my JVC single & triple tray. Yours might just need a cleaning or alignment (or laser replaced).

Sunfly, SBI, Mr Entertainer and Zoom and all the others in the UK license their tracks from MCPS/PRS and if they tell you they go direct to the publishers, they are misleading you... Do you really think a manufacturer in UK would do the painstaking research to identify the writer/writers and publisher(s) of every song and pay publishing when they have a "1 stop shop" that makes it simple and easy to do all the work? The only catch? They have to follow the PRS rules and distribute where they tell you it's approved. It's rather disingenuous to say "tracks were licensed for production properly by SunFly and SBI" when they all clearly say that they license their tracks though PRS. AND, they don't do that until after the tracks are sold... They don't ask or need any permission to produce the track like the US publishers do. I said it before, I think Kjams should be more than a little worried that they are providing vehicle to deliver unlicensed tracks to their customers which exposes them to action...

I'm amused that in 2014, DVD "Regions" exist, when DVDs are "So Last Year". Rights holders lobbied for a tax on 700 meg CDs., (So called "Music CDs") and this was granted. I'm assuming some of that tax was forwarded to the rights holders. (No Proof) I did hear that these same rights holders (UK) were complaining that the tax funds were drying up, as nobody was buying this outdated "Music CD" format any more. The real issue is, Sanctioning bodies want ALL the money. Even if they do not deserve it. Last I heard, sanctioning bodies do not create anything worthwhile. And they never learned to share in kindergarten. Apple managed to figure it out, (The download thing) so how long until karaoke does? </rant off>
